The Lamborghini Miura was first shown to the general public at the Geneva Auto Show in March 1966. Named in honor of Spain's bravest line of fighting bulls, the Miura was only 1,080mm high, featuring racing car style front and rear cowls and "pop-up" style headlights with the eyebrow-like decoration that became the car's trademark. There were numerous difficulties during the Miura's development. Especially problematic was the unreliable midship, sidewise arrangement of the engine, which placed unacceptably high loading on the rear wheels. The chassis also suffered from lack of rigidity, with resulting negative impact on handling. The interior of the car was plagued with high noise and vibration levels, and the gear box did not function as intended. However, the car garnered nothing but raves upon its public debut.

The Lamborghini Miura is a sports car produced by Italian automaker Lamborghini between 1966 and 1973. The car was the first supercar with a rear mid-engined two-seat layout, although the concept was first seen in a production road car with René Bonnet's Matra Djet, introduced in 1964.[4] This layout has since become the standard for high-performance sports and supercars.[5] When released, it was the fastest production road car.
The Miura was originally conceived by Lamborghini's engineering team, which designed the car in its spare time against the wishes[citation needed] of company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, who preferred powerful yet sedate grand touring cars over the race car-derived machines produced by local rival Ferrari.
The Miura's rolling chassis was presented at the 1965 Turin Auto Show, and the prototype P400 debuted at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. It received stellar receptions from showgoers and the motoring press alike, each impressed by Marcello Gandini's sleek styling and the car's revolutionary mid-engine design.
Lamborghini's flagship, the Miura received periodic updates and remained in production until 1973. A year later the extreme Countach entered the company's lineup, amid tumultuous financial times for the company.
The last and most famous Miura, the P400SV or Miura SV was presented in 1971. It featured different cam timing and altered 4X3-barrel Weber carburetors. These gave the engine an additional 15 PS (11 kW), to 385 PS (283 kW; 380 hp) at 7,850 rpm and a maximum torque of 400 N⋅m (295 lb⋅ft) at 5,750 rpm. The last 96 SV engines had a split sump. The gearbox now had its lubrication system separate from the engine, which allowed the use of the appropriate types of oil for the gearbox and the engine. This also alleviated concerns that metal shavings from the gearbox could travel into the engine with disastrous and expensive results, and made the application of an optional limited-slip differential far easier. The SV can be distinguished from its predecessors by its lack of "eyelashes" around the headlamps, wider rear fenders to accommodate the new 9-inch-wide (230 mm) rear wheels and Pirelli Cinturato tires 215/70R15 CN12 & 255/60R15 CN12, and different taillights. A total of 150 SVs were produced.
There was a misprint in the SV owners manual indicating bigger intake valves in English size (but correct size in metric). The intake and exhaust valves in all 4 liter Lamborghini V12s remained the same throughout all models. This intake size misprint carried forward into Espada 400GT and Countach LP 400/LP 400S owners manuals as well.
I can never convince myself to build an older supercar model kit. I think you might've changed my mind. Thank you.

A beautiful build of a beautiful car, Chris. And here’s another bit of trivia for you: Eddie Van Halen had one of those, and you can hear him revving it up in their song Panama.

Looks fantastic. I built one in blue last year. Quick little build.

If you've got the scratch to get yourself a Lamborghini Miura, you can afford to get custom gold calipers. Great model Chris.

I just finished the green detail up version of this one that comes with the photo etch set. It's a really nice kit. Very clean. I modified the louvers so I can remove them and see the engine other wise you can't see them at all.

@@hpiguy 😂😂
Frontugulant , I like it
RJ
Thanks!
Great rendition of one of the best Italian cars ever. Beautiful build. You’ve done it again. Another of your builds I must now buy. Stay well and thanks for the effort
Another awsome build Thank you
Thank you very much!
The Miura and the Ferrari F40 are the only cars I have ever liked from either manufacturer. To me they are the absolute truest form of what a driving experience is from so-called super cars. But the Miura is beautiful and neither car has traction control, abs, launch control or any of the electronics that for me ruin the idea of feeling the car as you drive or becoming 1 with the car. Just straight up function over form, raw power and handling that doesn't suffer fools. Beautiful job
Thanks Teddy!
Built as well as ANY Lamborghini Technician could.
Wow, thanks!
Cool kit, great job Chris.
Thanks 👍
Very nice car and very nice build on your part, but who could have doubted that ? 😉👍
Thanks 👍
Great build of a well detailed simple kit. Keep them coming.
That's the plan!
@@hpiguy Good plan.
If I remember my early teens fascination with Lamborghinis, they didn't use any chromed parts on their cars. Everything was either alminum or stainless steel. So good call on the wheels etc. Cool little car. Great build. Was gonna say as usual, but this is truly a cool great looking build!
Surprised you went with the bluegrass music, figured maybe some Italian opera. S'ok though,I prefer bluegrass.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful work on a Sexy car. Im going to have to find this kit
superbe bravo. great congratulations
Thanks!
Nice job, Chris! Yours looks better than the box art!!👍
Wow, thanks!
Absolutely beautiful and Hasegawa car kits from my experience do go together easily - I especially like the metal transfers for the badges, mirror faces and other chrome details on the inside.
Thanks!
I hope this is still available. My all time fav Lambo! Ever since I was a kid watching the I think 2nd or was it first Rocky movie??? He rolls out at night in a black miura playing Phill Collins in the air tonight....after seeing that I've always wanted one of these
modelroundup.com has them in stock as of today.
FORZA
Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Lately when I look at the Miura, I think the Mach 5 was loosely based on it. Also a little tidbit of trivia: the Van Halen song 'Panama', in the part after the solo when Dave does his "talking" part, those couple of "WOOSH" sounds are from Eddie's Miura.
Cool!
A candy on wheels
Thank you!
Crazy super detailed I've been out of model building for quite a few but recently decided to give it a try again I'm trying to find a better primer anyone got any suggestions
I use the Rustoleum line, just like I show in this video. Thanks!
Rip battery. Sympathy to its family. Pretty sure it's gonna be dearly missed by its wife in the fire detector and its kids in the TV's remote.
Kinda sad for the short shot part tho. But heh, sometimes it happens. Wonder tho, since we're in North America, can you get replacement parts? Else, this build is awesome, as always.
The manuals have contact info for replacements.
The grates are the front radiator...
Yes...helps to watch the entire video.
Fantastic build. Do you clearcoat and polish your models?
I clear with Future and I do not worry about polishing and all that stuff. Not for me personally.
Love your work! What do you do with your complete models?
Mostly stored.
Those headlamp surround decals look like misprints moon eyes
LOL
@@hpiguy they looked great on the car though!!
Great job as always on a really neat kit.
I’m curious how you deal with the unpainted spots once you remove the parts from the sprue.
As everyone knows that is the one big negative to painting parts in the sprue over out of the sprue; just curious how you tackle the issue as your finished products are excellent!
Touch it up with a brush as needed. Thanks!
Does anyone sometimes get air bubbles in the paint after you apply the primer and do the paint coat
Yo like how do u do like small lettering for car bodies like the first gen camaro I’m having a lot of trouble doing that when can u show that
I show it often, I use a silver metallic gel pen and follow the lines.
Lenborgini ou Ford GT ,40 clone houff🤔✌️👍👍👍
what kid of gel pen is that and where do i get them at?
Curious,l do you shoot the interior headliner to match the interior color? Nice work! Those tires were Pirelli Cinturatos in the original issues of these kits.
Nope, I don't worry much about the headliner. These are fast build up reviews, not show builds like I say often.
The chances of anyone ever flipping my models over to examine headliners is zero.
Chris how do you seal white wall deals?
I don't, I leave them as is.
Can you build an aoshima hilux new old school?
I built a nice one not too long ago and have at least one more planned.
Very nice Chris, quick question, can you substitute Pledge (future) for the Testor's Glosscote?
Yes, but Glosscote is thicker so you get different effects. Test it out.
@@hpiguy I will, thanks Chris!
