Tag along as I transform this 5x8 ft utility trailer into a 40 square ft custom micro home. In this video I prep the trailer for construction by removing the side rails and ramps. I also build, insulate, and install the subfloor. Lastly, I frame out all of the walls and roof to be ready for weatherproofing and siding. Stay tuned!

Excellent job, so good details you shared. I would have kept the short wall to act as a stabilizer for the walls. It may have been an inconvenience but the structural rigidity might be worth it. Thanks for sharing.

Great start. Did you say you haven't built something like this before? It looks like you have been building these for years. Well done.

Thanks! I’ve done plenty of projects and woodworking before but this is really my first time doing actual framing/construction stuff

I love your design. Do you mind sharing the rafter dimensions?

What made you decide on that height? Would doing 8 feet high make it unstable? I was thinking of doing 5x10x8 high.

I slowed it down to .25 speed and I still can't see how you remove the rails, may I ask? I assumed a compact saw with a metal cutting blade would be required, but that's not what I see happening.

The rails were just bolted onto the trailer I purchased, so they were easy to remove.

It's a travel trailer, so why not call it that? A house is something you live in on a regular basis...

Way too small! great for camping, but not as a permanent home! i would feel stressful to live in a tiny house like that! it's normally a size of one's bathroom or a small bedroom! lol

It's still a good idea. Y can't our government (USA) buy a bunch of them and build little villages and get the homeless people out of the cities? If u don't work in the city and can't afford to live there it seems like u would b happy to live in a mini home in a rural area.

Yeah, for you, not everyone is you. Some of us were raised in cars/ housless but a home is a home. He said that, too. It's a camper, not a "home". It's just for utility and function, not permanence. Did you watch this on mute or skip the first part???

Construction technique of th floor mounting on the trailer doesn't look so good. You really should've sealed all the way around th aluminum and not depending on 'lath strips' to hold th Al tight.
