      As mentioned in the reply, water from an internal shower will get behind the tiles as will rain water on this job shown.....there is no difference! Except when rain water gets behind the tiles shown in this video it will sit behind the tiles in the huge voids caused by just using a few lines of adhesive. This water will freeze in the winter and blow the tiles off the wall. There should be no voids behind the tiles particularly on an external project where water will get behind between the wall and tile. The wall and tile should be completely covered with using a notched trowel and external tile adhesive and if any oozes between the joints it should simply be wiped off. This video shows not how to stick tiles to an external wall.

    Hi mate, love your work, can i ask how does this work on a blockwork planter corner, how to get the neat finish, does it just butt up on the corner both sides, how do you hide the side of the tile the rough edge.

    • @tidybrickslandscaping

    Quick Q, The system U are using, Will it stand up to water ingress, frost heave ( delamination from background) Ireland a lot of rain, especially winter time, is your system suitable for North facing ? Big Thanks in advance if U reply

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  3 года назад +1

      Hi George and the answer to your question is the product itself is very delicate if I was to kick it with my boot bits would fall off so it’s not massively structurally sound especially expanding frost.
      Hope that helps 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    • @user-bh6fl4os8n
      @user-bh6fl4os8n Год назад

      Can't believe what I am reading. George you are correct. Water will get behind these tiles and sit in the huge voids that are being formed by just using a few bead lines of adhesive. This water will freeze in winter and blow the tiles off the wall. This video shows how not to stick tiles to an external wall! You should never form voids behind tiles. You should cover the wall and tile with an external tile adhesive with a notched float / trowel. Then press the tile firmly on to the wall. then there will be no voids! If any adhesive comes out between joints then simply wipe it off. The reply you have been given is unbelievable. The comment about if the tiles are kicked with boots then bits will fly off is just beyond me. And the comment about the tiles not being massively structurally sound is the most ridiculous comment I've ever heard. "Not massively structurally sound"! Tiles are not at all structurally sound! They are not designed to take any weight loading so what does "not massively structurally sound" mean?

    Hi, we’re putting ceramic tiles similar to those you’ve done on a concrete block exterior wall - is that primer and sealant the best one to use please? Would the Sika pva primer do the same job? The other side of the wall is backfilled (double skinned wall with a small gap in between) just looking for some advice please? Thanks

    • @tidybrickslandscaping
      @tidybrickslandscaping  Год назад +1

      I’m doing similar atm using a cement primer from Marshall’s. you must prime the wall and tile then stick. putting a plastic dpm behind the wall would also help stop water from penetrating through the wall
      hope that helps 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      Mate I wouldn't use this method of sticking tiles to an external wall. You should never form voids behind tiles particularly outside where rain water will sit in the voids. This water will freeze in the winter and blow the tiles. The wall and tiles should be completely covered will external adhesive using a shallow notched float. Press the tile firmly on to the wall. If any adhesive comes out of joints simply wipe clean. Do not use the method shown in this video. Hope this helps and good luck with your project.
