- How To Anchor at the Sandbar or beach by Boat - Understanding Tide & Current
How many times have you tried to anchor your boat at the sandbar or beach and stressed about it?? No one wants to be "that person" who ends up high and dry when the tide goes out! I would think 100% of boaters have hit bottom at least once in their lifetime. If they say they haven't well they are probably just not telling the truth! 🤣 We have been there ourselves! In this video we cover what tide charts we use, how to properly read them and what questions you should be asking yourself BEFORE setting up at the sandbar. We go over how to read the water, watch for fellow boaters and understand what anchor you should be throwing! We hope you find this video helpful and feel confident at your next sandbar or beach anchor adventure!

I’m old enough to be your Nona and you are teaching me so much!!!
I just retired and got a pontoon boat and need to learn everything. I’ve never had a boat, never came from a family of boaters but it’s something that I’ve always wanted. Thanks so much for helping me. I want to be able to take the boat on my own without waiting for one of my kids. I appreciate so much this channel!!!!
Dont forget most depth finders have an offset setting where you can input your vessels draft to always see your true depth automatically.
This is a genuine and informative RUclips channel runs by genuine people. I like the twin because they don't try to absorb the audience and make money by making themselves half-naked in bikinis with useless content. Good on you girls, keep going.
Thank you very much 😊
F’real!
Couldn't have said it better myself!! Totally agree!!
Agreed; great job!
@@GaleForceTwins no disrespect we wouldn’t mind if you did your content in bikinis
Another fine lecture by The Gale Force Twins Academy!🤙🏾
I just love your videos. You have such a talent for teaching in a straightforward, clear way. Thank you!
The Gale Force videos are so helpful! I'm an imminent, aspiring boater so all of these tips will be put into use very soon. Thank you Amanda and Emily!
This is the one video I was hoping you would make - really needed this. Thank you!
You girls are awesome! I’m learning a lot from you both! I’m looking forward to getting my boat and then I will be rewatching all your videos!
Great to see you two again. Really enjoy both of you young women and your adventures
Planning to move to FL from IL soon. Have a lot of Great Lakes fresh water experience but your salt water/inter coastal navigation and fishing videos are so packed with information It’s awesome! Getting so I can almost tell you two apart until you both smile. Then you look absolutely identical.
Great content as usual. Simple techniques to anchor quickly and safely so you can comfortably relax, go for a swim, explore or whatever.
Great training! Thank you! Very professional!
Thanks for the Tide Alert app suggestion. Just downloaded it for use on the Chesapeake Bay around Annapolis. Keep up the great work!
Still the best advice out there - so clearly concise and professional - brill stuff
good luck getting your silver plaque! I love how confident you sound, I get that as younger persons and not being men, tons of real life boaters probably think you are on your daddy's boat and no clue. Thats sucks, but here on the internet we are looking for helpful content. My only helpful advice as someone who is constantly the "new guy" to the boating community is say things like "this is how we do it " because someone where else it might be done exactly the opposite. Thank you for the videos.
Good video. There's quite a few Qualified Captain's that should watch this video. Seen enough in my day that's for sure.
Good work girls 👍
Love how informative these videos are. Keep up the great work
Wow! A great deal of information of beaching up at sandbar! Thanks.

Great job with this video!
Straight to the point 👍
Very important and helpful video. Thank you, guys. Take Care.
Thank you so much for this informative video. Learning a lot from you guys. Show them how is properly done twins!!
The drone shot of your boat at 5:34 is beautiful! The dark hull against the turquoise water, and the outriggers make it really standout! 👍
Always watching here in Abu dhabi sending all my support thank you so much for sharing your amazing tips
Such easy listening...informative. I like your style.
Great video guys! I am Key Largo, new to boating, and this was extremely helpful.
Just subscribed to your channel. Great info, great gal's!! Very informative. Love it!
Lots of great information.

You two are awesome. Knowledgeable and straight to important points. Thanks for all good info.
Guys y’all rock, I’m also a fishing lover,

Phenomenal Video As Usual !
Awesome job Ladies. Very informative
Awesome Video, I’m going to start sharing it with folks that rent boats, give them something to watch through the No Wake Zones
Awesome thank you so much For the videos. Very helpful.
Always like learning. Thanks for the video 👍
Very informative. Thank you!
full send bro never lift! knowledge is power!
This was Very good and detailed information! thank you 👍
Awesome advice for all boaters
im a first time boater this year. your videos are awesome helpful and very appreciated ❤
Great information. I really like this format for your teaching videos where you take turns talking/teaching instead of both talking at the same time. One question: if you anchor at low tide do you drift farther back than usual from the anchor before tying off?
Great information! Thanks for sharing.
I enjoyed watching this. I don't have a boat.
Your videos are great. I have learned alot from you. Thanks
Your getting close to 100K...! Amazing
It's very important to reverse back in idle after the anchor is deployed and tied off in order to set it.
Another well done, informative video which is why you'll be at 100K subscribers in no time. Keep up the good work.
I liked the video. Very informative. I learned a few things. 👍 Just noticed you passed 90K subs. Wow! So fast. You're well on the way to the 100K milestone.
Thank you thank you 😊
Nice video - great narration and camera work. Thanks!
On the Gulf Coast of Florida I face bow towards West as the waves come in if the stern was towards the West the waves would be coming up over the transom. I have a pontoon boat with fiberglass Haulls.. great video
Great video. Don’t forget to put out enough line also. 7 to 1 ratio I think. It’s been a while since I took the coast guard class.
You’re very professional.
I could be your father. I thought I new boating. I have learned so much with you girls. Thank you. Keep the good work.
Excellent information!!
Nice beach.(pantai yang indah)🖒
Amanda, Emily I was right , on your last video , I told you how I and others beech our boats on mud island , across Rockport, Tx and we all fish off the sand bars just wade fishing 🎣 Amanda, Emily you two are amazingly awesome, be safe and have fun always #AFANALWAYS
Twins - how do you recommend you calibrate your depth finder? I have mine set so that it tells me how much depth I have beneath my skeg (on an I/O boat), which seems to work for me, but maybe there's a better / more standard way? Thanks for your great content!
Gale Force Twins does it again. Great video ladies!!!
Thank you for your help.
Thanks you the lesson ! You both Rock ! 👍🥰
Excellent video. Very informative.... I've learned quite a bit from your channel ... :)
Probably be only a month or two before you hit that 100k milestone ladies, congratulations in advance! I was taught to reverse away from the anchor once I thought it was set (or at least solidly on the bottom). What are your thoughts on that procedure?
Great info!
I like your channel, specially the sea(wo)manship videos, thank!. Would you consider addressing (I thought you were about to do so at 4:32) the subject of scope some other time? Again, thank you.
great job thank you.
Awesome! Love your videos. Keep on 😎
Wow, great information!!
Love the videos. A video on beaching would be nice as well as anchoring two or more boats together.
Thanks ladies
And congrats on passing 90k subscribers!
Thank you guys for the great info, bcuz i've seen ppl do exactly what u said not to do and thank God i didn't which is tie ur transom anchor to a tree. I guess that's bcuz i was in Miami, you guys are the bomb!!
Excellent video. Can you help me with a question? I am a first time boater. I am moving to NW Cape Coral home with indirect gulf access this July and have ordered a Ranger Tugs R-27 with a draft of 3 ft. I am worried that the deep draft is going to make it difficult for passengers to get off the boat to walk to the beach. Would you say so?
Great video!!
Hi girls!👋 The channel is growing fast!!👍
Well done! On another topic, what happened to your starboard engine cowling?
Great job
Awesome Ladies
Great video have a Blessed wk stay safe
Great video!
Please make a video about antifouling
good stuff! Thank you!
These are great!
Great job!
Smart Information
Love the channel and the content - haven't read through all the comments so someone might have brought this up, but you said "Fortress" anchor instead of Dan-forth Type Anchor as Fortress is just a brand of Dan-forth Type anchor. Great Content!
That was an awesome video Thank you
Great job.
Please explain to your followers the importance of scope or anchor rode to pay out in different depths of water. Ex 5 to 1. Or 7 to 1. Along with an explanation of why the chain is so important. My apologies if that Information is in another video. Cheers Todd
Very informative
The fact the depth finder is at the bottom of the draft is so great to know,
Thank you.
Another great video on how to avoid ending up on the Qualified Captain's IG page
Thanks for sharing that. Almost at a hunge😉
It did help… Thanks!11
BRILLIANT way to go GIRLS, you learn things the proper first time around it keeps you safe forever, the other guy was not young but the amount of people on his boat tells me he has experience , ( maybe not in sand bars but still ) dont have a boat never will have one but I want a inflatable Dinghy with outboard motor. what your teaching here applies to all boats, as a novice I would alway look to what other boat are doing positioning but you gals explain why in which is good education, Thanks for the education Ray K. UK. YNWA.
Great video
Could have used this before we rented a bot on Torch Lake in MI this summer and we drifted around and around our anchor.
