A couple corrections to some things I said in the review. -The increased thumbstick tension module I install and test is from Epindon not Evil, although Evil controllers does make thumbstick modules for the C40 that are sold on Amazon aswell. -In the verdict section I misspeak and say the original warranty was 3 months but it was 6. Now it is 1 year across the board as mentioned in the video. Thank you for watching Stallions and Stallionettes, I hope you enjoy.
Awesome and entertaining reviews. I hope you do some video about Hal controllers overall, the pros and cons and which options are there and platforms where they support. AFAIK, there's no PS5/PS4 HAL controller, would be cool a video of how to retrofit one to the PS5 controller.
I really hope Astro make a new version for ps5, I loved the C40 TR. I think it sold poorly because of how late it launched in the ps4s life cycle tbh, but it was an amazing controller.
literally my favorite youtuber right now being a 34 year old gamer dad you have me belly laughing at a controller review... shout out from your black watchers
Captain Kevin....As part of the most comprehensive, informative and enjoyable controller reviews that can be found..... please let us know if the controller is compatible with the appropriate Brook adapter. It would be greatly appreciated if this was included in all your controller reviews. Thanks and keep up the awesome work.
I wished someone would come up with a mod chip to use on ps5 games without the need for zen beloader titan etc... this was by far the best controller made in my opinion. a c40 2.0 would be welcomed as astro did it right.
that controller is so cool men, i regret never buying it. i have medium-large hands, been looking for comfy controller since the original xbox controller. unfortunately this one is not sold anymore and it is outdated, but i am sure you will make a video if they ever make one for the ps5.
i still only play with my c40 . i am a pc player. Getting new modules once a year beats buying a whole new controller. I've had mine for around 5 years now. Battle Beaver is where i get my replacement modules from
The most comfortable controller i have own!! It's shame that it won't support ps5 games so i had to let it go after few years of constant use... btw i did customized potentiometeres instead of having stock I've resolder xbox elite tension adjustable ones and it worked like a charm!
I have this controller and I actually enjoy using it a lot only down side is that it doesn’t work with ps5 games but it’s still a good controller iv recently upgraded to the ps5 pro controller so I don’t use the c40 anymore
I bought this controller at launch. The PC software only works if its in its native Playstation mode. So if you're using reWASD or similar the software will not detect it. It's one of the annoying things about using it on PC. Another annoying quirk is it that Windows detects it as an Xbox for Windows controller anyway - so natively, games detect it as an Xbox and not Playstation controller and show the wrong button layout. Hope that helps! ;)
Hey, thanks for the info . I had reWASD and similar programs shutdown. Maybe it’s because im on windows 11, who’s knows. Im just glad I can rebind the rear buttons on the fly
Can you review the machenike g6? Apparently it has a hall effect sticks and triggers and it also has a micro switch face buttons like the razer wolverines. Much appreciated. :)
I loved this controller so much when I owned it, downside being that the stick modules were so cheap and prone to stick drift. I mustve contacted astro like 5 times just for replacement modules
ive had 3 of these in less than 9 months all broke despite me taking very good care of them. it was either the R1 button had broke or the paddles had got wobbly or the joysticks failed EVEN ALL OF THE ABOVE. I've done my research on the envision pro and that seems like a better choice lasting users 4 months and over.
Would you feel it’d be worth swapping for this from a dualsense edge for exclusively pc gaming? I’m not in love with the edge for PC use as there’s no first party software and when using DSX I feel like I get extra input lag. I like the ability to get increased tension modules as well.
No shot. Dualsense by default has a low input delay lower than most, if you overclocked your dualsense you will get 1ms. Dualsense or Aimcontroller by far is the best route. C40's overclocked has no difference.
@@real016 I don’t have a PS5 so I can’t program the controller unless I’m running DSX on my PC and I feel like I have more input delay when I’m using DSX compared to my custom DS4 controller. I just want something with swappable thumbstick modules and better native support!

I had a c40 and it stopped charging had a scuff vantage the stick paddles broke on The back and i spoke to someone at scuff they didnt want to help me with replacements till i told them i create content....
Another thing about the software, for Astro's software for their headsets, its also very frustrating to make them recognized or get updated. I had the Astro A40 and it was so janky getting it to update. From what I remembered, I had to manually update the headset with a file in the "windows" version. Before, I used the "Microsoft Store" version and it wouldnt let me update from the software OR manually updating it. Then after I did all that for the "windows" version, the "Microsoft Store" version showed I was updated and everything. Honestly, the hours it took for me just to find out that I can manually update and doing all that other stuff made me hate Astro. Still makes me very hesitant of buying Astro products at all with the trash software.
I really love that controller. I got it when it first came out. I use it for everything first on the PS4 and then when I switch to PC I used it on that I probably would still be using this controller but after using this for a couple years, the back left pedal sticks at times. I emailed to see if I can send it in to get fixed but unfortunately they had discontinued. The controller would like to see if Astro whatever get back into making controllers.
Wow thats disgusting sending that to you with all that grime on it. They should be ashamed of themselves considering the company size. They cant spare 2 minutes to clean it off? Heck, i can do a dang good job of that with just a little piece of paper and a paper towel. Thats just freekin lazy. I had a friend get a headset from Amazon before. It came to him used and disgustingly dirty, with hair in it and everything. Grime grease, the works. It was so bad. He returned it instantly. And it was, you guessed it. Astro headset. Seems they like to share peoples grime.
Yeah i was really surprised by the condition. oh wow, so it sounds like this is a going trend with Astro, good to hear it wasn't just mine, but also crappy on their part
Its absolutely crap for a price. After 3 years of using i have a 3 pairs of not working thumbstick . For a last few months i was trying to buy them from official website, but they are out of stock in Europe. Looks like not gonna be in stock at all . I also had some software issues like random lag ,or pad just remap all buttons without any reason .
just order custom ps5 aim controller From the us website but it is ship from Poland I thought it would ship from CT i did not know that they have a location in CT and Poland
I got this from eBay for £80 from someone and had so many issues the guy wouldn’t take refunds so I got my refund from eBay and the guy sent the controller back to me so I practically got it for free and sold it for £60 in a local store
I heard it does but only ps4 games on ps5 or games that are on ps4 and 5,like Fortnite and warzone; if you connect the controller to ps5 and go on those games it’ll work
they give your a year ... the controller will die 2 months after it runs out ... i had the A50's and now they are a paper weight because of the battery
The Astro TR C40 was a disaster with the Sticks, for such a expensive Price, im really pissed about Astro, and the best, they kidding us with the exchangeable Sticks, because they not sell them only, just a complete controller, so what brings you that invention on this controller? right, nothing! And the Price from other Stick providers on ebay or something, are so expensive, that you can buy a PS5 Controller. Astro, never ever.

I totally regret increased thumbstick tension on my BB. Hand fatigue and tougher micro adjustments are not it in competitive Apex
