Yes, welcome to the HEARTBREAK CLUB. The range of emotions that final run of chapter 6 is what puts this game on a stand alone pedestal. You served Authur and Roach well. The initial part of jumping in as John is a big adjustment but give it time. Once again, Thanks for sharing Your journey as Authur. As I have said before, watching Your journey is the closest WE get to experiencing our 1st playthrough. Enjoy the remaining story.

Few stories involve a fatal disease and it's one thing to lose a loved one suddenly, but another to watch them slowly die. A lot of games have sad deaths but Arthur's hits different. It doesn't make sense to folks who don't play games, but Arthur inspired me to be a better person, and since I finished my playthrough a while back, I've been kinder and more generous. You can tell on Dutch's face that he knows Arthur is right at the end and that he regrets on some level the mistakes he made. But a key part of Dutch's character is his narcissism. He can't admit he was wrong. It's why he was speechless but his expressions gives it away. That was the closest he can get to saying he's sorry.

Arthur Morgan is not only one of the best characters in games, but also one of the best characters in media; truly an extraordinarily well-written character who is the heart of a tragically beautiful story. The writers evidently gave so much thought and care to his character and I'm so grateful to them for giving us one of the best protagonists I've ever seen in media.
But Arthur would not have been complete without the acting and performance of Roger Clark. There was some exceptional display of talent in his work here, he truly brought Arthur to life in every way possible, it made it significantly more memorable and impactful and I can't laud his acting enough for that.
Arthur Morgan will always hold a special place in my heart and losing him almost felt like losing someone I knew. I had to take a week's break after his death because I simply couldn't bring myself to play as John 'cause I missed Arthur too much. It almost felt like I was grieving him.
So I understand if you feel like you have to take a short break too, but when I did come back to it a week later, it was absolutely worth playing it all the way to the end, and I love John as well. Not as much as Arthur, but I do love him. And I'm looking forward to you playing the epilogue and being part of the rest of this incredible journey

Arthur was the best character I've ever played as, I dont believe we will ever get a story half as impactful as this one.
Also, when asked how Arthur wanted to die / be buried, he says "face me to the west so I can reflect on the sunset, and all the good times we had", instead he died facing east, in my opinion, gazing over bright new sunshine that he gave to so many people just before his passing, so that their journies could continue. Arthur is with Isaac now, and he's finally free from his own poor lifestyle.

@craig2196 if that's what the game is trying to suggest, then that's what happened. the game isn't going to make you sit through eight to ten hours of running away. we can assume the pinkertons arrived minutes before sunset, and arthur and john eluded the pinkertons, ran up a mountain, said goodbye, and then the fight between arthur and micah, and finally arthurs death scene was enough time passed to be around sunrise. he definitely died facing east as the sun is clearly rising.

Losing Arthur is one of the hardest video game deaths I've ever experienced. I cry every time I watch someone else go through it too lol. Arthur Morgan is, imo, one of the best story characters in existence (counting both video games and novels)! He's always felt so real, and watching him grow and change and eventually find redemption all while battling a progressive disease is just heart-wrenching. You can't help but come to love him, which makes losing him that much harder. And that scene where you lose your horse is also so sad and impactful as well, especially if you've kept the same horse through the majority of the story as you guys have.
The storytelling in this game is absolutely insane, and it's been SO much fun getting to re-live it all with you guys. I've excitedly looked forward to new episodes every week, and while I'm sad it's going to be coming to an end soon, I'm super glad this series helped me discover your channel! Arthur's last ride, Susan's death, your horse's death and then Arthur's ultimate demise. All in the space of around 20 minutes. Brutal. One of the conversations early in the game is about how some members of the gang would want to be buried. Arthur said "Face me to the west so I can watch the setting sun...". He died seeing the sunrise instead, which is even better - sunset was about good old times, sunrise is about new beginning.
As for John, Arthur giving his hat and bag to John pretty much sealed it for me - he passed the torch. This may not be the character we love like Arthur, but this is the character Arthur would have wanted to go on, and it doesn't get more sacred than that. I think I almost heard him say "We both knew I would go, take care of him for me now".

Oh boy, where do I begin? First off, thanks for letting us be part of this incredible journey for well over 5 months. Your playthrough is one of my absolute favourites!
This episode was an emotional rollercoaster, mostly emotionally draining, but it hurt so good. The last ride with Arthur absolutely destroyed me during my first playthrough, everything from then onwards was just emotional turmoil for me, I teared up again when I lost my horse and during the passing of the baton (the hat) to John. And after all this time, I still teared up during all those scenes in this episode. It's always tough to watch those scenes, but my word, all those scenes are so incredibly well-written and shot, and exceptionally well acted.
We all grew attached to Roach, and as much as it hurt to lose him, at least he wasn't left alone with no one to care for him. I'll miss you Roach, and I'll absolutely miss your Arthur after having watched your version of Arthur for 5 long months. The passing of the baton between Arthur and John was a great scene as well. There was so much weight and emotion behind it. There' so much to process, but we'll definitely be ready for the epilogue!

Someone has probably already commented this but early in the game at horseshoe overlook, and in a conversation between Lenny and Hosea, they talk about how they want to die. They say they want to die around friends and then when Hosea asks Arthur how he wants to die he says he wants to die facing the setting sun. I think him dying facing the rising sun signifies how he didn’t go how he wanted and the end of his life didn’t go how he wanted but the end was still beautiful because he did get what he wanted

And yes, this part of the game is Niagara falls for most of us, whoever does not cry here is not human, and that ride, with THAT song, desn't help to not cry
And see, that is why the decisions mattered, even in the little missions, if you had not done some of them or decided something different, those tear jerker comments while riding would not have been there
BTW, notice how Javier tries to keep his gun pointed to the air, he IS loyal, Arthur was his friend, and after Guarma he started to realize that Dutch might not be all there, but still wanted to be loyal, although was not about to point a gun at his friend, unlike Bill
I do believe that Dutch's was a mix of senility and mental issues aggravated by the trolley wreck, the moment Grimshaw is shot, he is pointing the gun at both sides, not knowing what is real, confused and realizing all he thought might have been a lie, but he was also at a point of no return after betraying Arthur and John, his two "sons" and by omission killing Grimshaw and driving Uncle, Mary Beth, Pierson, Reverend and Trelawny away, so he was like, "no turning back, who is with me" and at the end, he ends up alone, without his REAL family and without the rats and that is why he was so bad off and deranged later on when John is hunting him down(Note that neither Bill nor Javier are riding with him as he chases Arthur down, it is only the rats and Micah, and IMO that is what causes both Bill and Javier to lose sight of themselves and turn so bad in the end, they betrayed their friends by omission and followed a man that was not what they believed, but noticed it after they could do nothing to save the situation, so they went at it alone)
That "thank you" to the horse and those last moments of Arthur with John are heartbreaking, especially when he gives him his hat and satchels U.U
You gotta visit the graves of everyone, from Jenny to Grimshaw, but you will need a guide for that lol
Note that almost nothing west of blackwater is marked missions, you have a LOT to do there, but is just not marked

2:49:24 he got an expression of a sad face. The voice actor Benjamin Byron Davis who played Dutch said at the con that after he went behind the rocks, he starts to cry a bit in the motion capture. However, I think for the story, Dutch realized who the traitor when was confronted by Arthur but at that moment he can’t act up as usual and confront Micah about it

This coming from somebody who’s played games ever since the original Doom in 93 and at 74yrs old this is the best and so immersive game I’ve ever played. I remember being very upset about Arthur's diagnosis when he got TB, I cared very much about him. But the storyteling made such a huge impact in my gaming experience, I still hold this game as the best game I've played with Arthur being up there, you just know you're in for a ride to tragedy knowing what is going to happen to him and unbeknownst to people, his poor horse. The story was hugely about redemption, Arthur's redemption. Noticed also how Javier was conflicted, he was loyal to Dutch, but he was unable to point the gun at Arthur, he still respected him. His passing really got me, Joel and Arthur are two characters that have been significant. Even in real life following the philosophy of *Doing good and being good to oneself and unto others*
It's tough when you empathise with a character, see him or her develop, know his thoughts, his interactions, changes and then to lose him. That feeling hasn't happened that way with a character, but Arthur.
I adopted many horses, but Isabelle (a white Shire) was the one that went to end with me, with Arthur. Felt like a teenage girl when she died.

I actually spoiled the game for myself (damn the algorithm) and knew that Arthur will get sick and die. Funny thing, the spoiler ended up not taking away anything from me. I was just as nervous as the story progressed, I was just as angry and frustrated and even though I would have seen the ending coming without the spoiler too, I was just as heartbroken and shaken. I could barely see anything during the last half hour for I was sobbing...And for a solid few days afterwards, any time I thought about it, I started crying again (and I thought about it a lot :) ) And after over a 1000 hours spent in the game, it still gets me every time. So, I was right there with you Sarah. :)
Thanks for sharing the playthrough with us and letting us coming on this ride. I hope you do enjoy the rest, and as always, go at your own pace, whatever feels right for you. Have a lovely day.

It’s kind of like real life, where you always think you have more time with your loved ones than you do. It can happen in an instant. I didn’t cry very much during my first playthrough because I was just in shock too. But my second play through and watching other play, I cried plenty. Arthur is the best protagonist of any game I’ve played.
I believe the epilogue is about 7-8 years later. There’s still some great story to come in the Epilogue!! Part 1, you’re kind of limited on what you can do, so I recommend just doing the story missions. But once you get to the second part the world opens up and if there are any side missions you didn’t do, they will be available again and you can do what you want again. Loved your playthrough and can’t wait for more!

Wow, I am going to miss watching you guys play this game. It’s been a while since I played but I really enjoyed how you took on the side missions and explored. Most RUclips “gamers” just ran the main missions to get through it. I like your play through the best! Please stick with it with John. If I remember correctly- no spoilers since you have already done the Hamis and Albert missions -if John goes to do their missions, they reflect or recap to John how Arthur helped them. (More time for tears. ) I say that because it is amazing how NPC’s change their stories based on how you have played the game and how high or low the honor level. I have been looking forward to each day, constantly looking for another upload. Even went back to some of the earlier ones to watch again. Great Job!!

Man, what a whirlwind of emotions. It’s crazy to think abt how much you guys grew to connect with Arthur and the rest of the gang. I fully understand Eric and his reaction to Arthur’s death as that was mine too (since I hadn’t played the game myself and had only watched play throughs), but it hits harder the more times you see it.
And I definitely should have mentioned to stop recording at the end of Ch 6 before moving onto the Epilogue 😬. It’s super jarring and isn’t a great headspace to be in at the start of John’s story, but I think you guys will start getting used to playing as him soon. He’s such a great character and it’s even more apparent in RDR1, so I really hope that you guys get to play that as well! And like a few people have said, doing all the main/side missions all at once will let you get to the exploration parts of the game much sooner without awkwardly splitting up the story. Looking forward to the rest of the play-through!

A whirlwind of emotions is correct lol There was a so much to process in such a short time-span. the first moment in the last part of the game that made me really emotional was when dutch road off and arthur was begging... just knowing all that time he spent being loyal to dutch who abandoned him in favor of micah who was telling dutch everything he wanted to hear. then when he was talking to jack. then the horse put me over the edge. i was crying the rest of the time. the only video game to make me cry.
i did a longplay... something like 9 months of the main story. i did 100% and i wanted to put off arthur’s passing as long as possible. also i used the same horse for basically the entire time, so i had a long time to get attached to arthur and his horse.
also some of the legendary fish are pretty specific. there were a couple fish i couldn’t get until i stood on exactly the right spot. the one in van horn was rough-2 times i caught it and dropped it in the water because you have to stand on the rocks. i would’ve been screwed for my 100% if it didn’t respawn.
