I have been a cosmetologist for fifty years. Just wanted to tell you one thing about hair color. Your hair has naturally many colors, so even if you choose your color it will never look the same all over. That makes it look more natural. That color looks fantastic.
I think it looks very attractive on you. You are the first person coloring their hair on RUclips that actually said I’m going to use an old towel.
I’m a hairstylist and when you start with darker roots that haven’t been pre-lightened like your ends were they will not take the color the same as your ends. That’s why it’s not even. Your hair has to be all the same color to start with first.
Would I have to pre lighten gray / white roots?
jennifer Loy fairhurst yes because even though the gray has no pigment the porosity of natural hair is completely different than bleached and the toner will take differently on each.
I agree die does not lift color. But it doesn't look bad in away i like the roots being darker then the rest of the hair
My hair is a steele gray but almost looks white but the little dark strands are ther specially if i put hair oil on but..bought some chrome color at sallys n gonna do ends n cap my hair n do streaks. Dont want all over to let roots grow out again...any suggestions

Absolutely!! I’m 50 in a couple of weeks and can’t wait. I’ve friends who feel depressed about their age but I’m honestly not bothered. I’m rather glad to be fit and healthy xx

I like the color on you and find it fascinating, also encouraging that there are younger women that are actually dying their hair this color. I'm transitioning to gray but I'm not going to say that it's easy, because I am so tempted to color my hair.
don't unless you let a professional help you transition by doing foils and lightening and toning the silver. It is a process, I have been doing it for a few years. It is like going in for highlights. But I am getting more silver of my own all the time. It takes a very long time to just let it grow out on its own. I would never try to do this at home
It looks blue/silver. I love it and it makes you look younger.

Pretty color. The yellow blouse doesn’t flatter your skin tone or hair color. A bright jewel tone such as pink would be awesome!
The roots will only tone and not colour as they need to be lifted the same as the ends.Also because the mid lengths and end weren't an even pre colour ,that's what causes the uneven result

Comb it through to get the color more even and use purple shampoo. I want to go grey but don't know if I have the guts to try it lol.
When going silver- if you look up "Silver foxes/sisters" on youtube, several ladies will show the whole journey! Unfortunately it's a lot of work, and never just 1 box of dye. There's lighteneing, bleaching, purple toning/shampoo, but silver is a process more than 1 color from a box.
Hi hon, you need to bleach your roots first, then you go in and colour tone your hair. There are different shades as your high lighted hair is different shades. It's not to bad as home dying kits go, and think if you cut it shorter into a cheeky bob it'd look fabulous. Xxx
I love the Silver Color on you. You may need to Dye again to get it Even. I have been thinking about going Silver myself and I am 59.

That brand has always worked well for me! I’ve used reds but not their silver. Would recommend the brand to Others who haven’t

You have a lovely fresh complexion any shade will suit you, the blonde hair is best for you in my opinion. I say this because you look naturally blonde, I'd say when you were very young you had very blonde hair. God bless and greetings from Dublin Ireland ☘🧚♂️🇮🇪

I love 💘 it, Your hair is so long , maybe you needed the two box's but I personally love the different tones. Definitely younger looking 👌
The silver is no bleaching colour therefore your roots stayed dark. But it still looked lovely. Try using a brush to apply colour and in smaller sections next time for a more even application and without needing as much product. 😀
The “lavender” goes away with a couple washes
Your roots won’t lighten without a higher developer.... the color you used is deposit only
To get the “true” color on the box, you really need to start with a light bleach color
It looks pretty though, it blended your root color to your foil
The colour isn’t evenly applied throughout but you know what it looks fantastic. The colour definitely works. Wear it for a couple of days with and without makeup and see how you feel. But I think the streaky “mistake” looks more professional.

I love this look, I'm about to use this exact silver shade soon when I'll go to bleach my hair in spring, cause my last bleaching was more than 3 months ago and now I'm wearing blue/green hair and my grow outs are pretty huge. I cannot afford to bleach my whole hair (from dark brown), because my hair is naturally very dry, so I always go for balayage method and because of this my hair is always "uneven" and some bleached parts make the final color look different anyway, mostly on my bangs or some hidden hair cannot absorpt the pigment. But I don't care, I just find all of the Live shades amazing. I've tried them all except red and silver.
I like it , it’s got different night lights . Wait a couple of days and put it on one more time . But it looks great !

I like the colour on you. I recently bought the same colour to do my hair, but just put blonde highlights through again before I take the plunge, as my hair has lots of blends going through it. I really want a darker grey, more like the blue grey everyone is pulling off, il try this first and if I’m undecided like you, il buy a darker grey , thanks for sharing your experience, it gives me some idea. And I’m 55 🤣
I'm real particular about using a comb & sectioning, I hope it evened out when you did it again. It's actually a pretty color.

You need like white hair for silver to take. I have the candyfloss/snapped off hair to prove it. Also very high maintenance colour that you need to use semi permanent silver dye or very purple shampoo/conditioner to stop it fading.
I think you need to cut your hair at least 6”. After all, trying a way cool hair color needs a way cool cut. And I’ll bet you’d look A...Mazing!

I think you need to get it all the same color and then put the silver back on it. Or cut it a little. Actually, considering how fast you did it, it came out very nicely. Can't wait to hear what your next step will be.

I’ve been really wanting a more cool color blonde but no matter how many time I use light ash blonde or purple shampoo/conditioner, it ends up looking strawberry blonde by the time i need to do my roots. So I’ve been dabbling with the idea of using this product! It looks fabulous on you, but if a Baptist missionary shows up to a church with lavenderish hair, it won’t go over well!🤣 so thank you again for saving me issues!

I really like it! I think it gives it definition. I'm a hair dresser and in order to get an all over even color you have to start with an even color, you cant start with new growth and highlights and get an all over even color . Another thing you have to put it on evenly. I like it like that though people pay a lot of money for multi dementional hair 💜💜
I tried the silver before bleaching the roots , it only went to like light brown/orange. So this time o do as all other times, bleaching roots , wait a day and then silver the whole hair. That will be perfect result

It looks nice. Im just passing through and on the fence about letting myself gray. You just need a good trim( ends only) with some layers to keep it modern and in good condition i you keep it.
First time seeing you. I really was worried about your eyes and your hair. When you did your makeup, it revealed spectacular eyes, and your hair is shiny silky with the new color! Really nice transformation!
Hiya...I just did the same thing with my hair (I'm 57 with natural dark blonde roots that lighten almost to white around my face &a more light/medium blonde all over). I've taken to dying my hair an ash light blonde to create a more even colour/time all over. So, wanting a change, I spotted this colour & fell in love with the idea of changing my hair to this. Best in mind my mum turned an affinity platinum white blond (naturally) for most of her life after 30. So I'm going that's what I'll eventually go to, this the reason for having the change with this colour!! I too wasn't sure afterwards, as it turned out a bit darker at first, but lightened up after a few washes. I think the colour does seem to have a bit of blue in it especially underneath. The colour has grown in me & I get lots of compliments so I may try it again! But just thought I'd share my experience! Hope you enjoyed yours (I just noticed this vid is 4 years old!) I know this has been a year ago almost but i really like it on you. You have beautiful hair and a lovely pretty face. I like your hair this way than before. But you look beautiful before too. I think if it was a bit lighter that would be beautiful.
I actually prefer that colour. It really suits you. I think after a few more washes it will more than likely lighten somewhat. Based on my past colour experiences, when I used the same colour again, It evened out my previously missed sections. When my roots appeared, I followed the regrowth instructions, which meant applying to the roots only, leaving on for the said amount of time and then combing to ends for the remainder. Over time, As I continued this process the coverage was good. Good luck!!.. 🙌

I have natural silver/gray. I used this to hopefully brighten my silver streaks, but instead it darkened my gray all over. Very disappointed.

Seeing this after it was done and hair dried I thought it looked nice for a hone color. Also, seeing the color dry it would look just as nice if you mixed the lavender purple in with the silver.

I used that color too with a similar outcome the silver tone on the light blond hair faded and was gone within 4 weeks. The roots were in a dark honey blond. Meanwhile turned into golden blond tone. So I will only use glossing and toner no permanent colour any more ir wont last but you have the damage non the less

I use this. I am 56 and was blonde for many years (diy). I loved dark hair and red hair but had to give up because my own grey was coming through too quickly. It was easier to go grey as it is so 'on trend'. This particular dye does lean towards blue/grey. They do a lighter one (can't think of the name just now) and that is more silvery. I get streaks 'cause these colours can't cover darker hair, but I have a lot of natural grey and I am ok with that x

Looks lovely on you 😊 a great tip of what I do when I add a colour in my hair, I comb it through, helps to spread the colour evenly from root to tip. I use my tangle teaser hair brush and it works a treat. I comb from the bottom up, helps get tangles out easily and doesn't pull on the roots while your hair is developing. I was red cherry 🍒 for years and I've legit gone from that to platinum myself at home and every step I took worked a treat. My favourite toner is the PROVOKE icey one. Got it from Amazon. It's a purple mask and really gives a good lift on lightened hair. Hope this helps you 🤗😘♥️

You may want to get a silver/purple shampoo to tone the colour. It's basically has violet pigments which helps to remove brassiness of silver/blonde hair. Have fun. ☺️
I think you should have lightened your hair first and then applied it but it looks quite good.
I know that some dyes state to apply to clean dry hair? I've leave in conditioner, should I wash it and dry 1st? I'm 47 so I've had two streaks of grey/white throughout the length of my temples from the age of 14/15 yrs old do have been dying hair FOREVER!! When I used to dye my hair,I always used a big comb to get it even when applaying it. Now I am silver.

Lady MaWa I have silver hair too....I love it. But it’s not easy to keep silver (have to use purple shampoo once or twice a week and some have more pigment in them than others) .
I like it on you! Schwartzkopf hair color is the best. It is the only dye my hairdresser will use. The color compliments your complexion. You might need to do the whole head one more time to even out the color. Hope you do a follow up video!
I’m 47 and looking for a change too. Haven’t coloured my hair since December 2018. Hopefully this will not show the regrowth too badly. I have been using Fanola no yellow so my Mousey blonde has that ashy tone.
It's a flattering color for you. I think the silver with blonde mixed in is a trendy high end celebrity look. But your hair went lighter at the roots and was toned all at once! I think I might use this for my hair to get more of an ash color to it! Thanks for the demo.

Metallic silver is that kind of pewter grey because it has a lot of blue in it, but that base tone works well with your skin and eyes. It took very well except a couple warm streaks on the side that you could go over. It’s a very nice color, the root is a shadow root, and looks good. Just fix those couple of warm streaks on the sides. Add some waves with the flat iron. Looks really nice. Outside it looked like your natural hair color.
I think it honestly looks gorgeous, beautiful. Enjoy it! I’ve just started using a professional colour mixed for you to use at home, and this is my second time and I absolutely hate it. Just about to email them and ask for more advice. Love the product, but haven’t got the colour right yet x

I think your hair looks gorgeous! I’m 50 and use this colour despite the fact that I’m naturally grey now. It’s also patchy in my hair but I think it’s quirky looking. I’m currently pink/lilac after using a colorista semi permanent colour but I like it so don’t care if people think I look an idiot 😂😂😂😂

lady m a w a. I did the same thing as you did. And I wasn't sure if I liked it. So today I washed it twice and conditioned it. It's a little better looking to me. But I do like the tie dye look Kalama with the silver up top and then I should go down the bottom it gets a darker like a gray and then it should go further down your hair it gets to a blackish coloring on the ends it's real black I saw it on a woman on RUclips and it looked great so I might try that. Or I might just do it back blond :-) I think it definitely made me look older

The same happened to me with this one , it doesn't last, it felt incomplete to me . I went copper afterwards that was less patchy . It did look nice .

I tried to dye my hair silver, Nice and Easy, I did it exactly as the leaflet said. When I took it off I was very disappointed it wasn’t silver at all, I have naturally blonde hair and all it did was make my hair lighter blonde, very disappointed, so I’m interested to see how yours turns out.
I really like it, I think it's a case of getting used to it. It'll fade in a few weeks anyway if you can't get used to it xxx

I absolutely love it! Wish I had blonde hair from the get go. I had to start with darkest brown, take the color out, then bleach it twice to get it orangy blonde. And then had to color it twice to get it to grey...and still not exactly where I want it. SO I've ordered another silver to dye it again in a few weeks. Hopefully mine will look as good as yours.

On Camera it does look like a metallic Silver the strips thar remained blond just looks like you needed an extra box to fully saturate the hair, but Im shocked that your roots didn't change. Love the flow of your hair. Looks silky smooth.
Pretty... the color is very becoming with your blue eyes.
I think you pull it off well, remember lighting, all always check it outside before disliking it. My fav line to play with is Joico (in a squeeze tube) and my fav for an ashy blonde is the titanium one but you can use any of their colors in that line cuz they are great and you mix with a white conditioner, this way you can play with colors without the scary permanent-ness.
