Fun fact. If you are playing Hellfire, it comes with the Monk class and this is known by everyone who's played it. However, with a small .txt file, you can also unlock the Barbarian and a Bard. Barbs use the Warrior model and excel at 2h Axes and do huge damage with them, however they have no magic and can only gain mana through items. Bards use the same model as a Rogue, but they do not use bows and instead dual wield melee weapons, although the in-game graphics only show them with 1 weapon. They are kind of a hybrid between a Warrior and a Sorc, having high magic and a higher cast speed than a warrior. BTW, in Hellfire you can lvl to 50 in SP. Lastly, if you ever play MP, do not take these 3 shrines: Ornate, Fascinating and Sacred. They will raise some of your weaker spells by 2 lvls, but they will permanently lower your max mana by 10%. This is not really an issue in SP, as you will never get to a high lvl, but this semi-bricks MP characters. For the same reason, you do not want to click on goat shrines and cauldrons as they are random.
i love the fact the monsters reveals theirs stats after killing a lot of them, seems more realistic and make you fear them
Fun times in the 90's and Diablo 2 in the early 2000's. Played them a lot. Diablo 3 & 4 are just no good to me :(

Knockback is nice all i can think about is windforce. I played a war but got tired of ranged attack so i made a rogue. Sometimes you get bad spawns like 10+ hounds in one area. makes me wanna play d1 again lol gog has d1 and hellfire for 9.99. A Diablo 1 remaster would be cool.

the church and catacomb regions (dlvls 1-4 and 5-8), have no elemental damage monsters (aside from the fire skeleton archers and the fire goat archers), however, in dlvl 8 (I think), you can get the unique spitter dog and its mob, which is extremely dangerous/deadly (make sure you got maxed out 'magical' resistance, and even then, they're still deadly), and also, there's the possibility of getting the unique grey goat archer and its mob, which will shoot the blood_stars (might also be arrows too "behind" the blood_star graphic/sprite, with physical damage as well, along with the magical damage from the blood_stars of course), which are extremely deadly too, make sure you got maxed out magical resistance for their blood_stars, as in general, the grey goat monsters do a lot of damage (I think they're the strongest type of goat monsters), and being a unique monster and mob, makes them even more powerful and dangerous/deadly
Griswald's Edge is ok if you are low lvl in Hell and have a problem with the mobs, but after you can kill them with no issues, it does become annoying due to the knockback. If you want a better challenge, play MP. Mobs have twice the HPs and hit harder, however you can't save and if you die you need to retrieve your items. There are also fewer quests and you do not get the quest items, However, you can do Nightmare difficulty and Hell difficulty when you hit lvl 20 and 30 respectively and can hit lvl 50 eventually. D1 used to have a very dedicated community years ago and it focused on MP, as SP was basically a one and done thing. As far as point distribution, you want to first max Dex, then max Magic while keeping up Str for items, which have requirements up to 100 Str and lastly Vit, but that's only for MP.

the SP/offline quest equipment can/will help you beat the game (on norm difficulty), especially griswald's edge for the warrior (and early on, with the butcher's cleaver), but it's far from the best weapon, which for the warrior, is the 'king's bastard sword of haste/heavens" (which you can shop from griswald at clvl 30 in normal difficulty, almost all of the end game equipment can be gotten in normal difficulty, aside from the royal circlet unique helmet and maybe a few other things), which also gets the x1.5 against animals (but x0.5 against undead), being a sword (and for dlvls 1-8, aka the church and catacomb regions, the best weapon is a 'King's war_hammer/flail of haste/heavens', as you get the x1.5 against undead, but x0.5 against animals), and other quest equipment: arkaine's valor (body armor), and the veil or steel (helmet)
(really wish axes would've gotten a x1.5 against demons and x0.5 against animals and x0.5 against undead, sighs)
there is a way of playing NM and hell difficulties on SP/offline (not going to explain how to do it here), but MP is still just better in every way (especially with having the entrance/exits to dlvls 5, 9, and 13 available at the start of the game, lol, it's not fun with SP/offline, having to literally go from dlvl 1 to dlvl 16, every single time, lol) (aside from the cheating of save-load in SP/offline, but that makes the game too easy, but it's not fun, not being able to get your body back and all of your GG, which can happen with MP/online, but that's the risk/fun/challenge/scary-ness of it, though it still suks big time, laughs, it's basically the same as dying in hardcore, but worse, as getting the GG can take years), after you played for the first time, and experienced all of the content/lore/quests of SP/offline

for me, the optimal stat placement (priority) for a warrior:
highest priority
1. DEX
2. VIT
3. MAG
4. STR (max it out with the elixirs)
lowest priority
except if/when want/need with MAG and STR for spell books and equipment needs/wants
the reason why STR is the lowest priority, is because it takes like ~ +10 str for just ~ +1 damage, which is a completely total waste of your stat points (all 3 of the other stats offer much more benefit to the warrior), aside from any equipment needs/wants, of course
of course, you want to max out your STR, as the 250 str is extremely useful for the warrior (especially with his critical hit bonus with ONLY melee weapons: the chance of critical hit with melee = clvl), just not the slow build up to it, you're just wasting stat points on that, but you do want/need the 250 str, it is very useful, but that's why you got elixirs, wink

I know this is a month too late, but when you swapped shields, you lost +2 Str, bringing you to 83. The shrine you clicked on then gave you another +2, returning you to 85 Str.
The Beezlebub mod is incredible
Hellfire is verry good, it just adds cool levels, 1 more class, some items and run in town.... its really improving
I hate those insect levels, but LOVE the deeper levels!

I just played through it... Seems a bit too easy with the books not being limited as it was originally. I just can't remember if you could buy them as much as you wanted. I played the whole game and never got teleport.

Yea same here. I missed the first stream and I was dead set on watching the second stream, but missed that one also. For the third stream, I went out grocery shopping at 9AM and returned at 10AM EST, got some soup boiling on the stove, and was 3 hours too late on the third stream at 11AM EST...

hellfire works fine. the same way diablo works. i just let diablo install first then i installed hell fire. you have to use the hellfire shortcut just like the diablo short cut @Sweet Phil
Weird you couldn't get the expansion to work, I quickly installed my copy from GOG and it fired up instantly and worked just fine. Started running a Monk into the depths for fun.
