If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

Pretty sure they’ve mentioned somewhere that they (Alex and Leila) spend around $40k per month on their video editing.
Their editor used to work for Gary Vee, he probably gets paid at least 20-30k per month I’d guess.

Love this. Apart from the editing (which definitely adds), this feels like classic Alex. Taking a business, or a concept, analyzing the hell out of it, and teaching the lessons. More of this.

I am personally not a big fan of Chick-fil-A, but I completely agree with Alex regarding their pedigree for service. The 1st time I went to one was back in 2007 just to see what all the fuss was. All I remember is the guy behind the counter was very friendly and personable. I went ahead and ordered a grilled chicken meal and I told him that this was my 1st time there and I was just checking it out. I kid you not, the guy basically told me that the meal was on the house because he wanted to make me feel welcomed. Now that's a 1st impression because I'm talking about it 16 years later. McDonald's, Subway, Burger King… No such memories either in the service or the food.
And by the way, give your editor a raise Alex! He does a good job.
Yea but mcdonald's subway and burger made money from you. Chik-fil-a not only lost money by giving you free shit but you never went back lol. If I was that guy that lost money on you I would find you and beat your ass for not coming back and I would tell you "you broka my heart" in the God father voice.
BK has the worse service! It’s definitely the people they hire. The one by my home cuts all the lights off like they are closed and the employee said it’s because they are short staffed and won’t be working like crazy!
We have been friends with the Cathy family for over 20 years . . . better people than business people. I once asked Truett if he EVER considered opening on Sundays. He just looked up and said, "NOPE!"
I spent over $1k on Chick-fil-A last year and i don't regret it.
They are one of the only fast food restaurants that actually deliver on what they promise and I've learned so much about service by simply interacting / watching them.
What do you mean deliver on what they promise? All ive ever know fast food places to promise is food…which they all deliver on

As a future owner operator of a Chick-fil-A everything he said was true but only allowing operators to run one franchise. The current franchise cap is 3 stores per operator.

Only for the top performing operators and it’s extremely uncommon. The vast majority are one store operators not “owners” chick fil a owns the store and everything in it.
Do you not feel that you’re setting yourself up only to be a glorified employee for someone else’s dream? Why not start your own business?
@@jamaico96 its not as easy as you'd fast food is one the highest risk hardest businesses too operate you could make a non branded chicken fil a but it's tough too match their revenue per store or food cost I've run retail stores most 711 franchisees make more and live better than a non 711 franchisee more rules n bs which they hate but in retail or fast food I'd recommend a franchise especially if you plan on owning 1-3 locations

I'm a fan of Chick-fil-A's sandwiches, but what I really love about Chick-fil-A is that no matter how busy it looks, I never have to wait in the drive through for longer than 10 minutes, tops! Their drive through game is top notch and I see others just now trying to emulate it. The problem is that other FF Restaurants have a complex menu and it's the cooks and line workers that slow it down.
Are you for real? I’ve never had to wait more than 3 mins at Mac Donald’s drive through. 10 mins 😂
@@CabinetFramingUK even 10 minutes was an over exaggeration. Usually it’s just a few minutes. But as for your wait time, I can obviously be time and location dependent. With all things being equal, including the number of cars in the drive-through, Chick-fil-A is always faster. In my own personal experience.
Fast food and fast money
Having served as a director in a Chick-Fil-A FSU and having visited their headquarters in Atlanta for a Talent Summit to meet many of their leadership, I am convinced that they are who they say they are. I’ve worked as a contractor at chick fil a corporate office in the past. The company culture there is unparalleled. They hire very good people. Also idk how they could be close 56 days a week 😂

Great video Alex, I admire what S. Truett Cathy established for the coffee he bought for each restaurant.
I know a little about that operation, my wife´s family owns a coffee farm in my country (Guatemala). Many years ago S.Truett Cathy visited and started a personal relationship with them. He agreed to pay a premium price to several latin american farms so they could have the means to export the best coffee beans for Chick-fil-A. It´s really amazing how one individual can bless so many people, and not just want the best Coffee price for his business but the best quality and long-term relationships with each farm. Customer interfacing and going above and beyond was made easy because of the expectations that were instilled in me even during the interview procecss! I think you can own up to 3. But "own" doesn't mean you own your franchise. You basically pay $10k to get the right to run the franchise. If you die your heirs don't get the franchise. So you own the cash flow only (net of costs).
For those interested in some of the things that make the system successful they run on similar lean manufacturing concepts used by companies like Toyota and Lexus.
Amazing business model and they do a fantastic job recruiting and training people that love to serve.

Alex, my wife works at CFA and is preparing for the operator training program (LDP). You can, in fact, operate multiple locations. There are only a few operators worldwide that “own” more than one. The operator of my wife’s CFA is in the running for another location within the same city. Corporate gives local CFAs first dibs on locations they plan to open, but only if they think they are good enough through sales, customer satisfaction, and food safety. Also, corporate is coming in to this store and is grading the entire store from open to close. They are watching everything. If my wife’s operator doesn’t get the new store, there’s only one other operator in the area that might get it before they offer it to someone within CFA’s LDP. Hope this clarifies.

lol I like part on not selling more things. I have a business partner/competitor who offers different sizes and grades of our main product while I only offer one. No customization, no overprocessing, no overproduction, no sorting, no separate inventory, nothing. It’s hard enough being good at one thing and if you’re the bottleneck in production and focus anyways, it often makes sense to stick to doing one thing well. Plus you can just refer customers to other suppliers for a profit too.
