If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

So valid!...Quick story - I did this 10 yrs ago when I realized I don't want the stress of figuring out if I would be able to sell enough to pay the bills.
My dad said to me, you need a little drop every month from every customer, and it will eventually fill the bucket.
Started charging $80/month to the first customer, and traded big checks for smaller checks every month, can't tell you how many times I was saved by this recurring revenue (I did CRM implementations), while traveling with my wife she got sick and then my baby boy had to be forced out and couldn't go back home for 8 months, barely worked, but I managed to pay the bills.

    • @EDMisnothouse
      @EDMisnothouse Год назад

May I ask what you were selling to get the reoccurring monthly money?

    • @matiasbarletta8995
      @matiasbarletta8995 Год назад +5

@@EDMisnothouse I hosted the CRM (open source) for them and included some maintenance hours. I will give them a lower implementation price if they pay the monthly option. It was a lot of work at first, actually the first few customers I sponsored the implementation cost myself, but eventually, it paid off and as I got reputation I got to charge more for the implementation. Lets say instead of charging 20K I would charge 5K and charge them between 500 to 1000 per month. Minimum stay was 3 years, average 7 years.

It's the same model RockStar -the video game company- uses to promote and sell their GTA's. That's why they don't release a game every year. They make the online experience better over time to the point where GTAV has run on stand alone for almost 10 years with recurring revenue.

    • @XTen1000DaysX

Isn't rocket science, that model started awhile ago with subscription MMO games like world of warcract. Then in purchase revenue things like league of legends did in 2010. If gta still makes money there is no point in making a new game until profits decline( which they are now) so they will make a new one now to recapture profits and attention

I have an offer that is nowhere to be found, insane LTV, even more insane Value to the customers and is desireable. I need to fix a lot of things when it comes to onboarding, customer experience and honestly I think I can at least adf 100x the value I provide and charge 20x when I keep on working on my offer. There is so much to work on it. I am confident that almost nobody knows how much knowledge you need in order to be at a level that Alex is. It seems like an endless arbitrage once you understand your position. I just lack skills

This is awesome, how would this apply to a plumbing company? Club memberships? Monthly blogs with tips for preventative maintenance?

Unsurprisingly he’s 100% on the money, I launched my accountancy firm on fixed monthly fee retainer basis and replaced my corporate salary in the first 6 mths. I didn’t have to be a genius just the right model

If the customers end up disliking the product (ex: insurance), how would you reel them back in or would you rather drop them and move on?

Summary: Make your product better so your customers keep coming back.
To make products better: Survey customers, analyse client experience, analyze results, make it faster, make it easier.
