@@EnglishEvolutionright now I’m trying to work and start a business. My work is in a medical setting so I have to devote a lot of time and attention to it, and then I work for myself and track everything myself. 12+ hour days on weekdays, and 10 on weekends solely to my business. In a year I will have my first employee, the year after company vehicles, after that another employee to do the actual job, then a employee to be primarily sales. This is all being actively funded by my sole efforts right now. 5 years and I will be looking for a retail location. All looking good on paper and just waiting for me to put in the work. Yes, creating something takes time and effort. Yes, you may fail. I may fail. 👍

Sounds like he was very messed up. Trusted people he shouldn't have, didn't have good solid contracts, had a business model that wasn't working, a girlfriend who tells friends to quit jobs, makes the same mistakes over and over, acts without thinking it through, hot headed, didn't handle stress effectively and more. Thankfully, must have learned from his stupidity. Lots of youthful ignorance about business. I watched Graham's interview with him and Leila and they're good communicators, but still very emotionally charged in their decision making.

Learning to avoid high interest debt while also learning how to put your money to work for you by investing is a very powerful combo (especially when you learn young) The earlier you start investing your money and putting it to work, the more time compound interest has to work its magic on your portfolio. This is how I'm going to achieve early retirement and it's possible for everyone. All you need to do is learn and start.

Every other interviewer just tries to extract value and info from him in as little time as possible rather than letting him speak and provide chronological context. Allowing him to speak freely with a little bit of measured guidance produced such an authentic transparent dive into his journey where he was able to share his ups and downs in a more detailed/relatable manner. So much respect for you and him. Gives me hope that through all I'm struggling with, there's always light at the end of the tunnel 🙌🏾 thank you thank you 🙏🏾

    Alex is my business hero.
His advice and stories are amazing.
Yet, his experience and advice only target “easy businesses” gyms and online learning are great. But, the hard issues of our time are NOT EASY to fix…when making a profit from day-one is “a requirement”.
Alex please raise your sights to the challenges of our time. Global Warming, Metabolic Disease, Food Security and Cheap Abundant Energy.
Our startup, a biotech, is poised to end the current diabetes and obesity epidemic and is a case study on the application of Alex’s advice. We had to convert the advice to work for a pre-revenue business. Businesses like ours can scale to hundreds of billions of dollars per year (while saving hundreds of millions of people from death and disease, while avoiding Trillions of dollars in wasted healthcare spending).
Alex, if you are listening, please ask yourself “is this the best use of our skills, traits and believes?” Or is there a “faster boat” waiting for you out here?
I’m living in the open spaces of hard technologies. These companies have never been exposed a “can do” business leaders, all these PhDs are just preying for a business leader with vision , integrity, and the competitive energy to win.
I wish I could have five mins on the phone with Alex or Leila to show them what I’m talking about:
As an industry, science companies need this formula of leadership. What the industry doesn’t need are business leaders with PhDs (adding more scientists is the problem).
We need non-scientists as leaders and company representatives to communicate with the 99.9% of the world that don’t have doctorate in science. The VC’s, patients, health care administrators and, insurance companies.
Communicating with non-scientists is infinitely more important than communicating to other scientists that can’t actually help you with finding, logistics, approvals and sales.
I’m here, I’m ready to talk. Look me up, I’m one a three executives running a $500m biotech, with no personal background in science.
    The company name is:
    S C I M A R (dot ca)

I love this John. I just got into the medical industry a couple years ago myself. What are your thoughts on all the doctors on youtube talking about metabolic health and such. Many are selling their courses and supplements. Do you feel this is another quick cash grab for them? Should they be doing better and bigger with their reach?

    • @johnwest3768
      @johnwest3768 2 года назад +3

@@TimBambu.Racing Working in medical research, I have learned is that Medical Doctors are consumers of medical research (far from experts). They tend to disregard any new developments after they complete medical school. From the moment they graduate medical school most Doctors become “experts” in their own minds are not receptive to new developments.
While medical researchers continue their learning with an open mind, disproving and refining our understanding of nature everyday, medical doctors are working in the field practicing medicine using a dated understanding from when they went to med school (older if you think about how long it takes for new knowledge be printed in textbooks).
I’m not saying Doctors are wrong, just not in a position to communicate the implications of cutting edge treatments or promising new discoveries.
Learning that doctors are not the ultimate authority on medical subjects was a huge paradigm shift for me. It was a flawed understanding that I had held all my life.
Second, be skeptical of any “new diet book” or dieting fad. The only way to have a best selling diet book is to 1) Have a catchy title 2) Invent a boogie man like “Big Pharma” or the “establishment” 3) share a personal and relatable story of weight loss by the author.
      (None of this is science)
Sensational titles sell books with no direct health benefit. A best selling books need to arrive at different conclusions than the scientific majority (nobody want to read a book that says “eat less and move more”.
And it is the author who is most bias to see positive results where there are none.
We know that a diet high in processed foods, simple carbohydrates and refined sugar is terrible for your health. Now is not the time to write a book. The only thing that needs changing is behaviour (personal, industrial, environmental, societal).

Our mission is to end the underlying cause of type two diabetes, not to sell a bunch of pills(that will happen on its own) Making billions will happen as a side benefit. We intend to use the money to educate and advocate for specific social changes using the data we collect.

I would be interested to hear Alex's perspective on Aristotelian/Thomistic thought. What drew me to it was how it deals with David Hume's "is-ought problem". In essence they never saw a problem in the first place.
Alex seems to have a Alex Rosenberg-esque nihilistic worldview born of naturalism and I think Thomism could be an interesting counter to that.

His great grandfather was basically royalty in Iran and his dad had only 1k when he got here. Sure. That’s like Gary V when he said he used to stick shelves at a liquor store then finding out his family actually owned it. These people are not starting from where most of us are. Keep hustling but don’t feel bad if you aren’t them. You don’t have their family boost.

Is anyone else scratching their head about how he talks about character being such a big value of his? He made some shady dealings early on, would drink a 1/2 bottle of Jonny Walker to cope + yet “wasn’t an alcoholic” then finally got the ball rolling + starting making big money…that’s the story I got. Where did the character change? I’d love to see the examples of that. (in my mind, giving Layla an out early on in the relationship barely counts) Seems like he’s only out to benefit himself + his people + bc of the fast growth everyone eats this up with a spoon. He’s lying to us y’all. The “ I don’t have anything to sell”is such a play. It’s 100% reverse psychology. I don’t believe for two seconds that he is a 8-10/10 “giver”. He understands how business works because he was so driven by his spite to be richer than his father. I’m not saying he isn’t successful, but let’s pull back the curtain here… I’m just saying people need to pay attention.

Ah ok finished watching the last few min + the reason he said that is bc he sells ✨branding✨ sounds like selling good character is something he hopes people will buy into about him. Esp as it probably relates to past mistakes. Hope I get to see some of that from him…(given this interview is 2 yrs old looks like I can go down a rabbit hole + likely find out😂) Great questions asked in this interview btw!

Very interesting person, with royal lineage that although Alex may not be aware of, is the reason for his success, Iran once ruled the known world under Cyrus the Great and his lineage could go back that far. One thing that is obvious to me from listening to Alex ( I was asked to check him out ) is that he's a nice person, is obviously successful financially, but is still seeking for the meaning of life, are we just born, live our life out then die and is there an afterlife or not. As the Host of this show said, how can you know until you've actually died. I then would add, what if there is an afterlife, a place for the wicked and a place for the good. What if you had to prepare in this current life to make it to let's call it Heaven and by so doing you avoided let's call it Hell? Alex reminds me of most people on planet earth, rich or poor, black or white, young or old, great or small, and that is, you will never discover the true meaning of life and get the answer to, what's my purpose on this earth, who am I and what is my destiny, is it finite or am I an immortal being, until you connect to the One who created it all. He said if you seek Him with all your being, He will appear.
