Vienna's Indestructible Nazi Tower

- Our visit to Vienna's Augarten Park to see its mighty flaktürme (flak towers) was just one of many highlights during our 2 weeks in Austria and Germany.
This tower is Flaktürme 7 and it's difficult to appreciate just how massive and formidable it is unless you've it in person - I hope this video helps to give some sense of its immense scale.
As an aside, no auto modes were used during the filming of this video in fact, I still haven't tried any of the Mavic's automated features and prefer to fly in manual mode. Enjoy!
Thanks for watching
=)

I dont know if you are right about the soviets trying to destroy the towers in Arenbergpark. I never heard that story.
I can tell you that the "G" one in Augarten is inside completly destroyed, the inner construction has collapsed, because ammunition exploded inside after the war, ignited by playing kids.
They were killed too of course, when this happend all the surrounding building had shattered windows.
I talked to old people who witnessed this live. I live close to the towers in Augarten. To my knowledge this was the only damage that ever crippled a tower. You can see missing parts on the video here those were taken off by a construction company only a few years back (sometime around 2000 something) because of danger of parts falling off from the tower. The wrapped the remains with that belts you are seeing around the top.
Thank you for that illumination.
Yes I have uploaded this previously but I discovered errors that needed to be corrected and unfortunately RUclips has no mechanism to allow for updating or replacing a video and instead you are forced to completely delete it and start over =(
Love this video! Great view and quick facts plus the music iced the flak tower cake
Monuments of times that tried to prevent the present.
Wow Very Impressive - Great Aerial Footage - Big Like! 😎👍
Thank you! =)
In Berlijn staat er ook nog 1, al is daar wel een gedeelte van afgebroken.
Danke, Nico! I will look for it when I visit Berlin 😊
Wonder how the larger guns were implanted
I believe they used cranes to lift them into position
Are you sure it’s only 12 meters higher than how wide is it?
Hi Tamás. Yes, some sources even list the difference as being closer to 10m. The proportions of the 3rd generation G-Towers are incredibly stout but the wide angle lens on the Mavic Air makes it appear more slender that it really is. Cheers!
It´s the DIAMETER, not width (43 meters).
High is 53 meters

Sim! And they will probably last as long as the pyramids 😉
