Fantastic footage! When some of these structures were built, no one would have imagined that in 75 - 80 years later, they would be on the beach instead of above it looking out over the ocean. The erosion is unbelievable even looking at it today.

Amazing how the fortifications slid down the hill and stayed in one piece.
With all the rebar and thickness of concrete it`s darn difficult to even blow these things up. A little tumble is a mere nothing.

check out klitmoller in national park thy. 4:00min is national park thy close to klitmoller and hanstholm. locals call it cold hawaii cause of the good waves. its worth a visit

im german and spent holidays at klitmoller denmark, nationalpark thy, i was at atlantic wall arround hanstholm, ist a huge artillery bunker complex battery. in one bunker was still a german motivational in old german, "HOFFE WENIG, WIRKE VIEL, DAS IST DER KÜRZESTE WEG ZUM ZIEL"

Silent salute to the brave souls who died on those beaches the moment they set foot. Most of them never even fired a shot but killed the second they stepped out of boats.
This isn´t Normandy. This is Denmark, no beach landings here. They did shoot down a few allied bomber planes from there though.

Taking Denmark would have cut German access to the North Sea and severed its connection to Norway, so every inch had to be defended.

thank you for this great view of blockhouses... sad page of the story, but it would delight many directors of short films! especially the one with the cannon ... Superb! pity I do not live in the area! in any case we see that in Denmark people do not tag too much these paint blockhouses! and prefers to leave them as they are, there are really many! Eine schöne Dokumentation der Landschaft. Aber nach über 70 Jahren erkennt man das verschwinden dieser unsinnigen Vergangenheit. Und die übernächste Generation kennt diese Orte so nicht mehr.......
It should be maintained not only for the purpose of history but for the uses of that in the future yes we are highly develope when it comes to defence but it will make a very big difference if that structure will be usable to. The country it may cost a lot to repair but it will give a big defence to our country.
Dont just make them aa attraction make them aa destruction to whom wanted to ruin your country.
There are 6000 -7000 WWII bunkers in Denmark. Several of them are maintained museums but we can´t maintain all of them.

why don't they reinforce the sea bed like in the Nederlands so that it wont washed away by sea .
Because here in Denmark we can't manipulate with nature, there are very stricked rules to follow.
Does seem a shame to lose them to the sea but sea wall defences are so expensive that in many places especially here in the UK there is a policy of using flood mashes instead of continually shoring up sea wall defences. In the Netherlands sea wall is essential as so much of the land is below sea. level. With cliffs its a losing battle and our relativly little island is being eroded away at an alarming rate.
Many soldiers die in this place 😔😔😔😔
