In this video I'm going to show you how you can clean and instantly revive your carpets with a simple hack! This is a perfect thing to do while you are in quarantine or lockdown. Get your carpets clean and good as new while you're stuck at home.
This hack is also perfect for getting pet hair out of your carpet!
You will need:
- Hoover or Vacuum Cleaner
- Bicarbonate or Soda
- Fabric Condition Solution in a spray bottle (1/4 Fabric conditioner, 3/4 water)
- Window Squeegie

Hello! What is “fabric conditioner”? Is that what we call “fabric softener” in the States?
Do you have a preferred brand?
Yes it's the same brand! I use 'lenor' mostly, but it doesn't really matter as long as you like the scent, they all do the same thing and soften up the carpet!
*My family (mostly me actually) are re-doing my room, it just didn't feel comfortable to me. I've made a whole plan of where I want everything, I just needed to find a way to clean my carpet without using too much money. Thank you, will definitely be testing this out.*

You can put the squeegee on the handle of a broom stick that way you don’t have to scrub on your knees.

Haha it was in the summer! It doesn't get fully dark until about 10pm!
My rat hid under my desk and sharted everywhere and 3e had do get him out but the carpet cleaner is too loud
Never thought to use the fabric softener!! But i do have one tip! I squeegee my carpets to get the max amount of pet hair up easily because i have huskies and obviously they shed like ridiculous savages! Anyway i use an extendable ice scraper for the car that has a squeegee side for windows! Its got a super long handle so no on the knees scrubbing:)
good job , you can use a cotton nappy and a spay bottle of water with 2 drops of dish washing per 500 mill water spray the carpet then put a damp nappy on top and use your electric iron on top of nappy low heat but careful not to touch the carpet with the iron .i use this to remove stubborn stains , 20 years carpet cleaning business.

Can I ask when you say cotten nappy do you mean like a damp towel? Sorry just nappy in uk is dipers in us. 🙈 X
@@bobbitaylor5859 dipers are throwaway nappy are washable old school i use them in the cleaning industry even microfiber will work on low heat damp towel ok to ,great for wine spills if you use a little vinegar , heat the top .,it will draw.
Okay so my usual carpet cleaning routine is mostly like this. Except after the baking soda, I use a little broom & dustpan (yes on carpet) to get most of it out before vacuuming.
My Reasoning:
Baking soda & any other gritty, sandy material can really get into the vacuum, & it’s actually really hard on the motor. So since my husband vacuums like he’s got a lifetime warranty, I try to be extra easy on our vacuums. 😅

Nice video, well done. Just be careful not to leave any residue from what you have used on your carpet, as it will attract dirt/traffic on the fibres. Ideally it should be extracted after. Nice tips though :-)

I'd skip the conditioner (its oil) and put some essential oils in the bi-carb soda for a smell instead - do this too often and the carpet will be a soil magnet. Nice presenting style btw :)

Does your method actually clean carpet and remove stains or just lifts play doh and refresh the carpet?
It removes any 'debri' and deodorises the carpet, I have removed stains but doing this just because it scrubs the carpet more thoroughly but if you had a tough stain I would buy a carpet stain remover and use that first!

Yes but I wouldnt use it it will leave residue behind use something antibacterial

Is this like a general clean too for a worn down carpet because I've stupidly used shoes and walked on it... Will this help??
Yes this will definitely help! If it's badly stained you might need to get a professional in to clean it, but there's no harm in trying this first!

A rubber broom with an extendable handle might be easier than a squeegee. Not sure! I use mine to pick up hair in carpet before vaccuuming. Might get those other pieces loose without being in the floor. Thanks for the video!

Where can you get the fabric solution spray? What did you use?
Just 1/4 fabric conditioner (any brand is fine like lenor or comfort etc) and fill the rest up with water. Let me know how you find it! 😊

It should help, it depends how bad, but it does help a lot with odours!
Hello, how often do you reccomend to clean our carpeted flooring?
I just do it when it looks like it needs it, we don't wear our shoes in the house so it's not very often!
My carpet dried and is sticky after using a water/white vinegar/ dawn dish soap solution mix to treat a spill. Any suggestions? Should I just rub it against with water/vinegar, or just water? And after doing that should i try and soak up as much as possible by standing on a towel before sticking a fan by it?
If it's sticky you probably want to get rid of as much of the substance with water so that you're not adding another solution on top of it! Paper towels are always a good way of helping it dry too!
Small dogs have accidents more often it seems… my carpet seems in need of some deeper cleaning. I refuse to buy a $300 cleaning machine that leaks or breaks in two years. I think i will try a wet/ dry vac with the fabric softener for some heavier spots and then the baking soda essential oil for overall cleaning… thanks for this video.

Baking soda is the same thing 🙂 oh no! How frustrating the baking soda will help so much with the smell! Leave it on overnight to work it's magic 🙂

Haha you could just try and rub it off with a cloth (the fabric conditioner solution softens it.) but obviously the squeegee is what pulls anything that's stuck in the carpet off more easily. I think I bought mine for £1 in homebargains!

Put a bag of ice on it first! That usually works!
A rubber/silicone glove with nodules would work well too if you have trouble with holding the squeegee

Yes I have seen other people use it on thicker carpets and rugs! It's the fabric conditioner that softens any stains and then the squeegee rubs it off and brushes the pile back up

I've done it on my old couch before and it worked really well but I'd check the manufacturer instructions on cleaning your couch etc before you use fabric conditioner on it! 😊

Any hacks for cleaning the dirty edges around light carpeting? Dust and dirt collect there and Just vacuuming isn’t enough.
Using a hard bristled brush on the edges of the carpet to agitate the pile and shake any dirt loose before you hoover will help! The squeegee might also do the trick too!

what was the point of bicarbonate of soda, you put it on then hoovered it up, didnt see any point
It deodorises the carpet, so gets rid of any smell!
what do u do if the carpet is a bit greasy? i bought a second-hand carpet and am regretting it now. I don't want to just write it off so any tips would be most welcomed.
Tip - Don't buy a greasy carpet in the first place
If you have a tub fill it with detergent and hot water. Leave it for cca 30 min and then stomp it... Then change water until clear and leave it outside to dry

Have you ever considered playmats over the carpet you can swiffer the mats.
Yes I do! 😂 The little one still manages to get play dough off or even under the mat!
@@SheSaidYesWeddingPlanning oh, my... think of a task for them to do... to clean up the play dough. If they put it under the matt that they will have to do without their favorite toy or tv show for a certain amount of days.

the baking soda dont go away easily
If you give it a good vacuum it should! It might be harder depending on what your vacuum cleaner is like. Make sure none of the carpet is wet before you do it, that might help. 🙂
Is baking powder as effective as baking soda? Have baking powder on hand.

@@bon-bon2668 Yes, you could, but you will have to use 4-5 times more of the baking powder to get the same effect as baking soda bicarbonate
