9:14 “It seems like this one has legitimate story” Dunno about you, but the L4D1 trailer teaches you the mechanics while also looking cool, and the L4D2 tailer is just looking cool
Both of em had a lot of story but L4D1 has more. Sacrifice comic goes more in depth on their personalities and origins, and shows who canonically dies in the Sacrifice DLC, along with how they ended up there and how they also ended up in the previous levels. L4D2 has story but you have to pay attention to the characters speaking to get most of what happened, such as the car from Dead Center getting blocked by the bridge in The Passing, where they meet the L4D1 survivors, etc.
The Versus mode community is toxic as hell but online Campaign mode is really fun. I found a custom server group on Steam recently that allows 16 people to play at once and 2x special infected spawn. For those who did not understand why Bill appears alive in the last stand update, it is because it is a campaign where if you remember in the last chapter of Death Toll there are two paths and in the original universe we take the left path that leads to the house on the lake (from there on the story ends in The Sacrifice) while in the universe of the last stand we take the path on the right that leads us to the lighthouse that can be seen in the first game as a map for the survival mode (same with L4D2) but unlike the first game here is a campaign of only 2 chapters but quite entertaining and challenging if played on high difficulties, but getting to the point the campaign tells us an alternative story where the survivors Instead of taking the left path, they go to the right path which takes them to the lighthouse where they have to call the attention of a ship to rescue them. In conclusion, the last stand campaign is not canonical in the l4d universe, so bill's death is the only canon so far
The intro of the first one was actually setting you into the mood of the game: everything you see them do, it's in the game. The second one was more action oriented, changing the prospective of the actual gameplay. You can't even carry two shotguns on you back, for instance.
16:54 I wouldn't really even associate turtle rock studios with left 4 dead if i'm honest, Both games were pretty much worked on by 90-95% valve employees, maybe even more, i'm not an expert at %. And as a certain, very popular video sharing the same name kinda showed, Back 4 Blood sorta proved that... It is unfortunate we never got another left 4 dead game, but that is sadly the fate of being a valve game: so many, many years valve had a certain higher up who would go around and cancel any in-development games (even cancelled an in development Left 4 Dead 3. ) That higher up has been fired roughly around the time of the Half Life Alyx release (a game that he supposedly tried to cancel as well...), so its entirely possible we COULD see a left 4 dead 3 in the future, at the very least its more possible than it used to be.
@@jamzilla1220 this one is kinda a complex answer, because its been pieced together by multiple sources throughout the years. BUT, Leakers, former associates of the company, and even current ones from some interviews have either directly or subtly mentioned this certain higher up, and how he would basically step in, see projects, and then find a way to nitpick at every detail of the project until he just pulled the plug. If you ever play these, never play on Expert realism, unless you want to truly suffer. The tanks will kill you hundreds of times on that mode. Might as well be shooting a nerf gun at The Hulk with how strong they are. And the normal zombies will Chuck Norris round house kick your head off. It was painful beating the game with my friend on that. Don't even get me started on the witches on the hardest difficulty.
i remember having a mod installed that made the Tank look like a mutated Johnny Bravo. All the regular infected sounded like Scout from TF2, there was a much more whimsical soundtrack for the tank. The Jockey was Aran Ryan from Punch Out, Hunter was Sonic, Smoker was Yoshi, Charger was the meme version of the Juggernaut....
The Last Stand chapter was non-canon and not part of their real timeline. It was made to show how the survivors will deal with the zombies until the end if they ended on a wrong place. That chapter is a fight-until-the-end type of gameplay (well it has no end since hordes of zombies will eventually swarm all over again).

Canonically Bill dies at the end of "The sacrifice" the L4D characters have to raise a bridge to escape, but to do so they have to use a generator, halfway up the generator dies with 3 tanks(big muscles) charging, Bill sacrifices himself to restart the generator so the others can escape, in "The Passing" the L4D2 characters can actually find Bill dead by the generator,
I probably haven't played L4D2 in five to seven years. Steam tells me I haven't played since 12/14/19, but I haven't REALLY played hard in seven years. I was spending WAY to much time on it and went cold turkey. Considering the game was released in 2009 (I think) between 2009 and 2016 (seven years ago) I have 1735 hours playing (according to Steam again). I completely stopped playing L4D when the L4D maps and characters were ported to L4D2. Steam tells me I have 551 hours in L4D. I have to commend Steam for continuing to support obsolete games. They had "small updates" in 8/10/21 and 1/31/22 for a game released in 2008. I remember when L4D2 was released there was a bit of an uproar about the "money grab" of releasing a 2 only a year after the original. I was annoyed at first too, but the upgrade was worth it. I played both until the maps were officially ported.

Left 4 Dead doesn't have an actual story. The game was always cooperative gameplay first and foremost, with the story left in the background through a combination of the Survivors' various dialogues and environmental storytelling. You aren't there for a "thought provoking piece of narrative"; you're there to kill zombies and survive. The first game's campaigns were originally split as they were intended as like standalone zombie movies (which is the game's entire style given the movie-like posters), before Valve decided to have them all connect as the group's various efforts to seek safety. Left 4 Dead 2 leaned more into connecting each Campaign with each other, and having more of the "story" told through their ever-changing dialogue and banter.

12 days? Man I had these characters for a while
You guys need to see Crowbat's video on L4D and Back4Blood.
Also the thing about that original trailer. Everything is gameplay accurate. Everything they showed, you do or will have to do. Shooting though damaged doors, special infected, the hordes, weapons, everything is 100% to the game.
For a trailer that WASNT gameplay, it was the most accurate trailer I can think of.
People still playing this game to this day thanks to mods. Seems like average players is 26k.
Suggestion for you guys, react to a fan made live action short film of Left 4 Dead by Airsoft GI
It's really cool and well made for a fan film made in 2011
Also... I know you guys are focusing on reactions and all but... This game is a coop for 4 people... There's 4 individuals on my screen... just saying lol
It Brings Tears Seing My Favorite Game Being Reacted..
Well… theres 4 of you… I’d say thats a good multiplayer lobby to play
God I loved these games. Brilliant reactions ❤️❤️🔥🔥
i loved this video so much man... i knew it when i saw trailer at time in 2009-2010 i said: " 1 day i will play this game. :-')
Tell me you haven't used one of the survivors and used their gun specifically from the intro.
It's not that they're short on funds, they've just decided to finish it will on L4D2 and work on a diff project instead. They don't want to keep milking the franchise until players finally get sick of it.
I like how they explained why zoey doesnt spawn with 2 pistols.
11:00 If you want to test copyright, play some of the Midnight Riders music.
TV Shows for you!
Dinotrux, Dinotrux Supercharged sequel, TMNT 2012, Lego Ninjago, SonicX, Transformers Prime, Camp Cretaceous, Max Steel, Batman The Brave and the Bold and Skylanders Academy! All Action and Fun!
I love people who haven't seen L4D reaction to the tank
I've still been playing this game for years.
The last stand update is not playable on xbox
Both games are still gold
Value should bring back left 4 dead 2 for the Xbox One
I still playing that game is my childhood
Man I love left 4 dead. I played it when I was in elementary school, and met one of my best friends on their. Bill is my favorite, he’s just the dad of the group 😂.
Edit: I just finished the video and holy heck I didn’t know they updated! Now I really need to go back to that game.
Wondering if they will play this game soon or later, it could be a fun stream to see them get lost in the maps for their first time
If we did it would be on the gaming channel
L4D was the best childhood games ever
I'mma be a One Man Cheese Burger Apocalypse.
You guys now need to react to valve made l4d2 by crowbat, a great in depth video
to this day i don’t think there’s a zombie game that comes as close too left 4 dead 1 & 2 it’s such a timeless game easily a top 100 game of all time or higher
14 Years and its still the best game ever made
6:55 I've always wondered... Was Coach is first name or last name?
You should react to "How back 4 blood proved that valve carried left 4 dead" by crowbat.
amazing video and truly shows how amazing left 4 dead truly was.
I vividly remember that elevator scene
I always disliked Louis, anyone stupid enough to wear a tie in a zombie apocalypse deserves to be shredded by the infected, take off the bloody tie, ties suck!
(And yes, I know it was a Shawn of the Dead reference, it still sucks, ties suck.)
Best video game 🎮 in the world 🌍
Stil play L4D ad loving it 😄
Just thought id let you know they didnt datamine the unused voice lines, they just found some spund files in the game files and used them.
You should have added Turtlerock Studio's new version of L4D called Back 4 Blood's trailers here.
