The only reason Matt isn't mentioned in the same breath as the other greatest footballers of all time is that he played for Southampton and not one of the " big " clubs. I am a Newcastle United supporter but I am a lover of great football and I always applaud truly great players who had insane skills and used them to entertain ( as well as get results for their teams ) For me, Matt rates as highly as any player who has ever graced the beautiful game. On top of that, he's a top bloke as well.

The greatest British player ever, in my opinion. A humble and loyal man. He could have earned far more money and caps - but he was one of the few who stayed true to a small club.
He shows his wisdom and class as a human being even more now by passionately defending truth, democracy, real science, honesty and people’s free will and health against evil oligarchic totalitarian forces. He is, thereby, far far greater than England’s finest ever footballer! More than just a legend -a true hero.
Dear Matt - thank you for everything - and God bless you!

He preferred Paul Scholes, all u can say is put Paul Scholes in that Southampton team and see how he does, le tissier kept them up year after year fantastic talent.

Such a shame you didn't pick really horrible, disgusting music for this clip... oh, right!
    ; )
Still gave you a thumbs up though, I remember hearing great things about Le Tissier back in the 90s
but until watching some in-depth video on him recently I had no idea exactly how unique a player he was!

Gotta be one of if not the greatest player that never won a World Cup or even a premier league trophy… surely… even as an Arsenal fan I think Le Tiss was marginally better than Bergkamp and Cantona.

England should have built a team around him. So his "work rate" wasn't brilliant, he should have been surrounded by men to give him the space and time to do his stuff. He would have walked in to a Brazilian side.

Selecting Paul Scholes instead of Matt Le God. Looks right but it is not. It would be like discarding Iniesta for Spain. England needs more spark and less seriousness to win another World Cup.
