Johnny was great in this song and was having fun with it, doing an almost "Bobby Darin style" approach to this number. My one objection is that band was WAY TOO LOUD and overpowered his powerful voice....Had the band been tuned down about 15%, this would have been totally stellar....Even so, Johnny Mathis was incredible in this clip!!!!!!
Thank goodness Johnny Mathis is still with us (as of this writing). I don't think The Lady is a Tramp fits Johnny well, though. He was more into romantic ballads than hard-hitting songs that suited Sinatra. But here it is, though. And he tries his best. Thank you for this Ed Sullivan Show segment from late '58 on CBS-TV.
love you johnny...but this....does not work....the high notes are wrong...but..does anyone think johnny knows the type of woman...this song is about?...lol
What a terrific singer he was !
I can listen to anything by Johnny
Johnny was really good and so good looking!

He was good for sure.
I'm not quite sure if this is the right song and style for Johnny, but still, what an outstanding talent he is, just wonderful.

Awesome I still DJ this one I am 66
i mean....❤👏
This performance strikes me as Johnny Mathis being a good sport with some manager or producer's suggestion.
📺 🧙♂️ 👏👏
With his great vocal range and feeling, handsome Johnny could have been a great jazz vocalist; instead, he opted to go pop-commercial.
1:20 Kilgallen, Dorothy Kilgallen?
Yup 😀
I was 7 months old. 😂
Who knows what the gesture means at 1:17 about Coney Island?

This may be a song that describes Cardi B.

Give Johnny a break. Sure, he’s got sugar in his shoes but he still knows about the bitches and hoes.

Not Johnny’s type of tune.
