Great video ! Really helpful on how to cut a thick chain. I have a thick chain I need to cut as I lost the key to the lock. I dont have a vice but the other things you recommended were real good like the bigger bolt cutter and hacksaw. I will see if I have those around the house or ask a friend to borrow there's. Very helpful in solving my issue.

Thank you! My son’s swingset has chains that can’t be adjusted because of the ends, we don’t have welding abilities or really even bolt cutters (I have a friend who will let me borrow his). I will get a good solid link to put it back together once I remove a few links. Poor kid has been dragging his feet since his last grown spurt.

The real question is how to chains differ. Some chains are rated to withstand 10 tons of pressure and have a certain shape. Others are rated for only 1 ton of pressure. Would the bold cutter cut through all chains?
One other thing you didn't show using is a hydraulic chain cutter. It is somewhat like the bolt cutter you used at the end but uses hydraulic pressure instead. Great video though! :)
Or a dremmel; or angle grinder; or multi tool; or a bench grinder; or a cable cutter; or concrete saw; or an Axe; or a plasma cutter; or welder; or compession cutter... did i forget any?
