I wouldn't count the Tenth Doctor as 2 separate incarnations, as you yourself specified, he healed the body and stored the rest of the energy that would have changed the incarnation into his hand, but that is up to each one of us' interpretation. Apart from that, really great video, nice that you included the other timelines as well.
www.digitalspy.com/tv/cult/a536819/doctor-who-matt-smith-is-the-13th-doctor-says-steven-moffat/ Moffat retcons if so the Tenth Doctor is one Doctor in incarnation 11 and 12. So while it’s one Doctor. It takes up two spaces in the cycle. Moffat even says Smith is the 13th incarnation in this article. Also the line “thirteen silly Doctors” is said in the episode. 😀
@CultOfThirteen I feel like Moffat's explanation is an oversimplification for the casual viewer to understand what is going on and because people often overlap the terms incarnation and regeneration, whilst I agree there were 12 regenerations and 10 did regenerate in The Stolen Earth, I do not agree that he is two different incarnations. Besides, if we take into account BTS stuff, you should also take into account RTD's comments that every Doctor bigenerated. The 13 silly Doctors line is also an oversimplification and a reiteration to the rule. But again, I don't think it's a set in stone thing and is open to interpretation, as I said in my first comment. If we are doing an analogy with the U.S. presidents, if Joe Biden is reelected this year he won't be the 47th president, he will still be the 46th, but if he loses and he is reelected in 2028, he will be the 48th, similarly to Tennant's 10 and 14 Doctors. Besides, we're overlooking the most obvious evidence, that he isn't called the Eleventh Doctor post The Stolen Earth. He did not number his War incarnation because he wasn't considering himself the Doctor at that time, but surely he would have counted 10 as 11 because he wasn't ashamed with that particular incarnotion. Just my two cents.
This video FINALLY explained the timeless child to me in a way i could understand Techtaeun used the timeless child to edit the genome of the Gallifreyans allowing them to have 13 incarnations Then when the timeless child grew up into the doctor they joined the division and where Chameleon Arched from their original specied to a Gallifreyian MEANING that the doctor we knew before the timeless child story was actually NOT reconned at all especially since the thirteenth doctor did not open the chameleon arch at the end of the story
Hmm. Tbh I didn’t actually think about it that way until 4 years after the episode ended. It still bothers me that the Doctor supposedly is the bases for all time lords and I don’t think that’ll ever change, but it makes it a bit better knowing that the Doctor is biologically a time lord
Since we're counting the Curator, i think its fair to maybe include Dr. Moon from Silence of the Library since Russel T Davies and Steven Moffat thought of the idea. Also, as a reminder, Doctor Moon would also be the 45th doctor. 😂😅
In Doctor Who Magazine 551, an article called 'Showrunner Showdown' had Russel T Davies and Steven Moffat interviewing each other about Doctor Who and their work. During the introduction, Davies reminded Moffat about "when we were making Silence in the Librabry, Moffat once told Davies the Very Last Scene Ever of Doctor Who." This prompted Moffat to dig up the email Davies was remembering, which he revealed that the mind of Doctor Moon was secretly that of a future incarnation of the Doctor who'd gone back in Time and uploaded himself into the Library so that River wouldn't be lonely.
I think there are two others answers : 1 - Ruth's Tardis happens to land in the 60s before she goes into hiding ; taking on a Police Box form and therefore it is a coincidence / 2 - The 1st Doctor unknowingly stole his own division Tardis, that had been reset like him, but her true nature showed by taking once again the form of a police box. / I think the answer is that like the pre-Hartnell Doctors used the same Tardis, and they share a special bond. (Also the TARDIS is not affected by time and knows about the future, it could have retroactively taken on the familiar form of the police box even before An Unearthly Child)
Nice work including the comic relief doctors also, the amount of times I had to correct people that Joanna Lumley was the first female to play the doctor!

Great video, always glad to see someone label 10 after journeys end as the 12th incarnation and not the metacrisis Doctor as the 12th. Just one question, wouldn’t the fugitive Doctor be before the morbius doctors, because in brain of morbius it’s working backwards, so presumably seeing she didn’t show up then, she’s somewhere between the last timeless child and the first morbius Doctor.
You know... The Master Doctor never settled as a permanent regeneration, but he did use up a whole regeneration to turn into The Master, the energy from the cyberman managed to reverse the damage and prevent further use of regeneration energy
Dr. Who at the end isn't in another universe according to The Day of the Doctor's novelisation, also the Curator is implied to be a future version but it isn't confirmed. Otherwise great!
There are expanded media stories that have outright confirmed The Curator as a future Doctor. The Then and the Now comic initially. Also there is a Doctor Who short story that suggest Dr. Who is an alternative universe, but you’re right to say Moffat believes it to be a fictional telling in universe though.
@@CultOfThirteen I don't trust the titan comics as canon material, really. Even if they don't conflict with canon now, they likely will eventually (e.g. if they ever bring sutekh back)
Kind of...i do believe that when a time lord retro regenerates (or degenerates if you wanna call it that) they regain a regeneration energy, this isn't the first time the doctor went through a retro regeneration, that includes the master
I saw a theory that fugitive is between 2 and 3 because we didnt actually see him regenerate and then we see pertwee fall out the tardis, so a theory could be the timelords wiped his memory after that and granted him an extra regeneration therefore the “lives count” would stay the same
@@CultOfThirteen Perhaps they could've made the doctor get back in the clothes prior to wiping her memories? i dont know it's just a theory i saw somewhere! Pretty cool headcanon though to makeup for the inconcistencies
@@jbxss2023 I'm certainly a big proponent of 'Season 6B' (The Five Doctors, The Two Doctors, Players, World Game, etc.) but I don't see the Fugitive Doctor having any part in it.
I personally like to think that The Curator is a regenerated version of the Bigenerated 14th Doctor. After the Nobles are gone he moves on and retires with a different old face.
War Doctor after 9 is depicted in the video under timeline 3, timeline 1 and timeline 2 depict other 9th doctors that were originally intended to follow on from 8. The BBC has never declared anything non-canon, and Steven Moffat himself said he counts The Curse of Fatal Death, additionally, Paul Cornell also counts The Scream of the Shalka as an unbound timeline. So I’m going to go by the writers intentions and not fans who still incorrectly claim that some stories are non canon.
I think that Rowan Atkinson was actually good as the Doctor. I know that his special featured an alien language conducted through farting, but I think he was quite convincing.
The curator might not be a regeneration, he could be like Commander Maxil or Caecilius, somebody whose likeness was duplicated during a regeneration, and who was employed by Unit so he can pretend to be the Doctor in case something happens.
Dr. Moon from the Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead two-parter is supposed to be a version of the Doctor from the future, somewhere between the Fifteenth Doctor and the Curator. Stephen Moffat confirmed he's supposed to be something like the 43rd Doctor, who copied his consciousness to keep River Song company in the Library mainframe.
For the Fugitive Dr to make sense, she needs to be between troughton and pertwee. A forced regeneration and mindswipe by the Timelords during the War Games leading to her working for them. Then turned to Pertwee and exiled on earth. This is the only explanation for not having a sonic, still having the original design Tardis and not recognising Whittaker
My theory is that the curator is the 4th Doctor but in a timeline where he didnt regeneration like in tales of the Tardis 5th 6th 7th never regenerate they just aged it makes sense
My theory is it isn’t an alternative timeline, but that Bigeneration was retroactively applied to all doctors, and this was what the 4th doctor did post bigeneration
@@thereinforcementshavearriveRTD specifically said in the in-vision commentary track for The Giggle that bi-generation does split the timeline, so every bi-generated Doctor is in a different timeline from the Doctor they split off from. I don't understand it but it's explicitly what RTD said is the case, and he invented bi-generation, so it must be the case.
So the Doctor regenerated at least 16 times in the Timeless era, 17 regenerations since 1 one of which was reversed and once at some point into the Curator. So at least 34 times.
What annoyed me about the Fugitive Doctor is that she was called "The Doctor" and had a blue Police Box TARDIS. for the Doctor to have had a whole massive life before being Hartnell is fine but the First Doctor should still be the first *Doctor* or at least the Police box should have started then
@@CultOfThirteenConfirmed by which episode? At no point is it stated explicitly that Fugitive is pre-1. They could easily be in-between 2 and 3. You need to cite a source to back up something as "confirmed".
@@HOTD108_ She’s placed with the pre Hartnell Doctors in the flashback line up in the Series 12 finale. She also is confirmed to be pre sonic screwdriver.
It's kind of vague but I think the consensus is that eventually, after retiring on earth with the Nobles, Fourteen regenerates naturally, returning to the moment of the Bigeneration as Fifteen.
The whole regenerations in NuWho is a total mess the showrunners and writers really screwed the numbers up and creating these unknown Doctors that no one asked for before Hartnell is totally disrespectful to his memory its been stated very heavily in "Mawdryn Undead" and "The Five Doctors" that the First Doctor is the original and there were no others before those faces shown in "The Brain of Morbius" are Morbius even The Seventh Doctor calls himself the seventh twice and The Eleventh Doctor refers to himself as 11 atleast that was before Moffat did his emergency rewrite for the 50th and didn't think things through. Paul McGann should had been in the 50th and be the one to change into Christopher Eccleston theyve really gone too far with wrecking established canon its becoming fanfiction. The Fugitive Doctor can't possibly take place before Hartnell because her TARDIS is a Police Box and she can't take place between 2 and 3 because hes already been through 13 regenerations in his first life cycle plus she doesn't know what a sonic screwdriver is plus The Third Doctor was in the Second Doctor's clothes it would make 10 times more sense if she took place into the future which im still sticking with that theory but also the fact Chibnall didn't think things through. Chibnall might had increased this but Moffat started this mess.
This is very silly. Philip Hinchcliffe has stated very openly that those 8 faces in The Brain of Morbius were the Doctor. In fact those faces are said to be the Doctor in the story. The outcome of the Mindbend only works if they’re the Doctor. Yes many stories have said the First Doctor is the first, but they would since it’s established the Doctor doesn’t remember anything before 1 because of the mindwipe and the chameleon arch. Moffat wanted Eccleston in the 50th. He said no. Moffat then wanted McGann. The BBC said no. The Fugitive Doctor is intended to be pre Hartnell and the reason for the police box a mystery. “Moffat started this mess”. All he did was add a war incarnation and confirm that the first Tennant regeneration counted.

Excellent video, but god do i still hate the inclusion of the Timeless Child making the Doctor an infinite god that fights for the justice of the timeline-or whatever. Completely contradicts the core themes of the show, kills stakes, and makes every incarnation of the doctor just a little less significant.

I love how 8 is where the regenerations get all tangled up
I wouldn't count the Tenth Doctor as 2 separate incarnations, as you yourself specified, he healed the body and stored the rest of the energy that would have changed the incarnation into his hand, but that is up to each one of us' interpretation.
Apart from that, really great video, nice that you included the other timelines as well.
www.digitalspy.com/tv/cult/a536819/doctor-who-matt-smith-is-the-13th-doctor-says-steven-moffat/
Moffat retcons if so the Tenth Doctor is one Doctor in incarnation 11 and 12.
Thank you for including the Valeyard, he often gets overlooked. And I forgot about the Curator. 😅
This video FINALLY explained the timeless child to me in a way i could understand
Techtaeun used the timeless child to edit the genome of the Gallifreyans allowing them to have 13 incarnations
Then when the timeless child grew up into the doctor they joined the division and where Chameleon Arched from their original specied
to a Gallifreyian MEANING that the doctor we knew before the timeless child story was actually NOT reconned at all especially since the thirteenth doctor did not open the chameleon arch at the end of the story
Exactly!
Hmm. Tbh I didn’t actually think about it that way until 4 years after the episode ended. It still bothers me that the Doctor supposedly is the bases for all time lords and I don’t think that’ll ever change, but it makes it a bit better knowing that the Doctor is biologically a time lord
Hooray someone who gets it.
Though I don't blame people for not.
Oh thank god
Still time lord is a title they must obtain, not every gallyfreyan is a time lord, it requeirs a lot of knowledge @@kobeangelesdamelio
Since we're counting the Curator, i think its fair to maybe include Dr. Moon from Silence of the Library since Russel T Davies and Steven Moffat thought of the idea. Also, as a reminder, Doctor Moon would also be the 45th doctor. 😂😅
I thought Moon was just a program
Can you explain further? When was it implied that doctor moon was anything more than a computer program?
In Doctor Who Magazine 551, an article called 'Showrunner Showdown' had Russel T Davies and Steven Moffat interviewing each other about Doctor Who and their work.
During the introduction, Davies reminded Moffat about "when we were making Silence in the Librabry, Moffat once told Davies the Very Last Scene Ever of Doctor Who."
This prompted Moffat to dig up the email Davies was remembering, which he revealed that the mind of Doctor Moon was secretly that of a future incarnation of the Doctor who'd gone back in Time and uploaded himself into the Library so that River wouldn't be lonely.
By the time we get to the 45th Doctor the actor is gonna be dead haha
@@tableprinterdoorbut with AI of the time that won't be an issue
Given the Fugitive Doctor had a police box Tardis, some believe she came between 2nd and 3rd Doctors

Or... she came later.
I agree with this that after war games, the dr becomes an agent for the time lords.
Nice work including the comic relief doctors also, the amount of times I had to correct people that Joanna Lumley was the first female to play the doctor!
Shout out to 4 and 13 (15), taking it outside of the tardis, knowing full well it was going to happen.
that thumbnail with the Master-Doctor is too damn BLURSED 😂🤣
I think that Ruth is a doctor from either the fatal death or shalka timeline. Maybe she popped into our reality during series 2. That’s why she doesn’t know 13 or the time war.
BRUH this is the first I'm hearing of the chameleon circuit being on THIS WHOLE TIME????
Ooh this should be interesting. I wonder if Brendon was included. I worked on something similar earlier, but the number to memory wipe ratio doesn't QUITE add up.

The 12th regeneration after the first Timeless Children
Great video, always glad to see someone label 10 after journeys end as the 12th incarnation and not the metacrisis Doctor as the 12th. Just one question, wouldn’t the fugitive Doctor be before the morbius doctors, because in brain of morbius it’s working backwards, so presumably seeing she didn’t show up then, she’s somewhere between the last timeless child and the first morbius Doctor.
We decided to go with the line up shown in the Series 12 finale, but there’s no definitive order so either is okay.
Imagine showing this to someone new to Doctor Who
I don't think we truly ever seen his first incarnation we don't know if the little girl already regenerated before
Finally a complete list. Thank you.

I actually believe the Fugitive Doctor precedes the Morbius Doctors since we never saw this Doctor in the mindbending scene in The Brain Of Morbius.
This is actually super cool!
So we're on the Doctor's 42nd Incarnation(yes, I count Brandon as an incarnation)
Only thing missing is the Unbound Doctor I think, and 6th Doctor Curator
Thanks for noticing, but we were only doing on screen Doctors to make things a little easier 😄
I love how 13 had 3 separate 15th regenerations
Kind of...i do believe that when a time lord retro regenerates (or degenerates if you wanna call it that) they regain a regeneration energy, this isn't the first time the doctor went through a retro regeneration, that includes the master
I saw a theory that fugitive is between 2 and 3 because we didnt actually see him regenerate and then we see pertwee fall out the tardis, so a theory could be the timelords wiped his memory after that and granted him an extra regeneration therefore the “lives count” would stay the same
But you do see three fall out of the Tardis with two’s clothes on
@@CultOfThirteen Perhaps they could've made the doctor get back in the clothes prior to wiping her memories? i dont know it's just a theory i saw somewhere!
I bet if the 15th Doctor took his my heritage DNA test his past ancestry would be huge and very very long.
Just goes to show that even regeneration isn't a strict progression of cause to effect... (you all know the rest!)
I personally like to think that The Curator is a regenerated version of the Bigenerated 14th Doctor. After the Nobles are gone he moves on and retires with a different old face.
2:05 No this is wrong because that incarnation isn’t apart of the show and also after 8th Doctor it’s the war Doctor then 9th
"... that incarnation isn’t apart of the show..."
Says who?
I loved Jodie Whittaker doctor and I have so many decent memories of her
Thank you 4:49
I think that Rowan Atkinson was actually good as the Doctor.
The scene itself, Steven Moffat and expanded media all confirm that The Curator is The Doctor
Great vid
Nice video, although at some points things are flashing by too quickly to read
❤❤❤
I enjoyed this. Cheers
Im confused on the timelines. How does this work? AND WHERE IS THE ONE WHERE THE LEMONS ARE ALL POWERFULL!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!??!??!?!?!???
For the Fugitive Dr to make sense, she needs to be between troughton and pertwee. A forced regeneration and mindswipe by the Timelords during the War Games leading to her working for them. Then turned to Pertwee and exiled on earth. This is the only explanation for not having a sonic, still having the original design Tardis and not recognising Whittaker
Bad news about the timeline of events here-
My theory is that the curator is the 4th Doctor but in a timeline where he didnt regeneration like in tales of the Tardis 5th 6th 7th never regenerate they just aged it makes sense

Hopefully neither metacrisis or 14 end up the Valeyard.
"how many of me are out there ?" a lot actually
I’m not really a math guy how many times is that in total?
So the Doctor regenerated at least 16 times in the Timeless era, 17 regenerations since 1 one of which was reversed and once at some point into the Curator.
So at least 34 times.
Shalka doctor is ‘canon’ now I guess! 😅 (whatever ‘canon’ means in doctor who!)
perfection !
I always hate when the Doctor regenerates.
You forgot Matt smith getting shot by the astronaut
True, but since it was the Teselecta faking a regeneration, rather than a regeneration that counted I omitted it.
@CultOfThirteen Timelords can trigger a 13th regeneration (that doesn't work), so that could work as an explanation.
@@Hilda_ogdenNo, it was a Teselecta. The show confirms it. It's not up for debate.
Haha I was waiting for the Valeyard
Doctor Who in the Multiverse of Madness.
What annoyed me about the Fugitive Doctor is that she was called "The Doctor" and had a blue Police Box TARDIS. for the Doctor to have had a whole massive life before being Hartnell is fine but the First Doctor should still be the first *Doctor* or at least the Police box should have started then
What about Merlin?
The fugitive doctor can't be before 1 though since her tardis also looks like a police box
It’s a continuity error definitely, but she’s confirmed to be pre First Doctor.
@@CultOfThirteenConfirmed by which episode? At no point is it stated explicitly that Fugitive is pre-1. They could easily be in-between 2 and 3. You need to cite a source to back up something as "confirmed".

I’m afraid not since pre-Hartnell doctors are canon
i personally think the curator is the fourteenth doctor's regeneration after the bi-generation
That could be cool
That or we can take a darker path and say 14 becomes the Valeyard.
What if the curator and the Valeyard bigenerated from the same doctor?
@@tableprinterdoor :0
It's kind of vague but I think the consensus is that eventually, after retiring on earth with the Nobles, Fourteen regenerates naturally, returning to the moment of the Bigeneration as Fifteen.
Man, no Lenny Henry!
Aaaaaaaand it's completely funked. Shalka etc etc etc
i dont understand the timeline thing, why are there multiple timelines?
It has been due to retcons of multiple episodes
Is it bad I would take the curse of the fatal death as canon before I'd take the timeless child? Not least of all because better writer
It's not a bad take. I personally don't care about the timeless child reveal, but I think the episode itself is awful.
I will watch all
There's also Doctor Moon
Doctor Moon is missing
All he did was add a war incarnation and confirm that the first Tennant regeneration counted.
bruh not you counting The Curse of Fatal Death
bruh not you not counting The Curse of Fatal Death
i love doctor who, i understand the timelines make no sense, but i feel like i'm gonna puke my brains out after watching this, lol. i feel like i'm gonna keep repeating the word binary until someone decides to wipe my memory
I think the 14th doctor Regenerates into the fugitive doctor, then the curator. Just a theory
The 14th doctor would end up regenerating properly into 15 (Ncuti gatwa)
If she were then she would have recognised thirteen
The fugitive doctor is highly implied to be before hartnell
@Ragingalcholic I think it's pretty clear the 14th Doctor (David Tennant) will regenerate into the 15th Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) since he mentions about being Time Lords and doing rehab out of order further implying the 14th Doctor will get better when he becomes him.
I personally think that the bi-generated 14th Doctor dies and becomes the Curator
Excellent video, but god do i still hate the inclusion of the Timeless Child making the Doctor an infinite god that fights for the justice of the timeline-or whatever. Completely contradicts the core themes of the show, kills stakes, and makes every incarnation of the doctor just a little less significant.
Where is rick sanchez
And apparently Dr who is an human AU 😂
Watched last the thirteen doctor , then i just stopped watching not because it was a female doctor but i grow up into not pirating tv series 😅 . The problem is that in Italy is just hard to get the doctor who ... Pirating is the great equity
That other 13th Doctor ( Timeline 1 ) looks like Jodie Whittaker but no!😂 Who is her?
Joanna Lumley who plays the thirteenth doctor in The Curse of Fatal Death
You forgot that capaldi started to regenerate and then canceled the regeneration
When?
@@cameronbaker97 i think he means The Lie of the Land, though that's explicitly confirmed to be a fake show, the same way the Teselecta also projected regen energy at lake silencio when 11th shouldn't have been able to.
@heathbaum That wasn't a real regeneration that was fake it does not count.
I honestly really like the idea that the doctor has more faces and incarnation before the first doctor, it’s add more intrigue and mystery to their character. But him being not from gallifrey and the reason the time lords regenerate? Nah.
