      No, though still interesting. The Watcher was a projection of The Doctor’s next regeneration, summoned early to help out. Another Time Lord, Kanpo Rimpoche, pulled off the same trick, but much cleaner. Kanpo projected his next incarnation outwards, allowing him to have an assistant, Choji. When Kanpo regenerated, he became Choji, merging back together, like Tom Baker and The Watcher.

    I've warmed up to the Timeless Children idea for a bit now. The addition of the Shalka Doctor in the actual show made me realise what the Toymaker meant by making a puzzle out of the Doctor's past. I think it's a way from the show to tell us that we don't have to take it for granted, and gather up the puzzle pieces we as viewers personally see fit. Like, if you don't like the Timeless Child, you can think of it as the Master's lie, and if you do, then you can add whatever you want in the mix.
    My personal opinion will forever be that Hartnell was the 1st Doctor, in and out of universe. Fugitive can be from a split timeline, or between 2 and 3, I don't mind that one bit. That would require for the Meta Crisis regeneration not to count, which I see being plausible. 11 on Trenzalore realising that he couldn't regenerate, and then thinking back onto it, and coming to the conclusion that it must have been it. Or then just have the Time Lords give them an extra regeneration to hide the gap in the timeline. All goes in this puzzle.
    Shalka I wanna include as well, a part of me hopes that he will be the 16th Doctor. Richard E. Grant is still in enough that he came for a photoshoot, as the picture used of him was a fresh one. But for now I think he's from the Ruth timeline.

    • @HylianKnight02
      @HylianKnight02 8 месяцев назад +18

      Originally, that was going to be "our timeline", the one we watch in show, and would have been had Eccleston agreed to return for Day of the Doctor. RTD's original vision was that The Ninth Doctor was the one who fought the Time War, that's why he was so bitter and distant in Series 1 until Rose softened him up. But Eccleston didn't like how 9 was written in the script, it was a lot of "You're not the Doctor, I'M The Doctor" stuff from him, sort of like how 1 is characterized in Twice Upon a Time. When Eccleston refused to do the 50th, they had to come up with John Hurt's War Doctor to slot between 8 and 9....(Personally, I think they should have just gotten McGann to reprise his role as the Eighth Doctor for the 50th and have HIM be the Time War Doctor, would have been so much better, especially as he's so full of hope in the TV Movie, to see that same Doctor become "The Oncoming Storm" of legend would be amazing)

    • @tableprinterdoor
      @tableprinterdoor 5 месяцев назад

      @@HylianKnight02pretty sure they wanted to get McGann but the BBC declined it for an unknown reason.
      "I know that in DWM or something Moffat said "he personally didn't believe 8 could have pushed the button" but I think that was a nice bit of PR as to not throw the BBC under the bus. In this interview he says that Eccleston said no to returning and so he asks if it could be another Doctor which the BBC declined. And he's very quick to defend the BBC's decision which again seems to me like trying not to throw them under the bus. It sounds to me like it was the BBC who shot down the idea of any previous Doctor, McGann included returning.
      Then he goes on to say how he suggested a secret incarnation played by a very famous actor and how he immediately thought that was an awful idea and would have ruined the numbering and everything, but the BBC executives loved it. So I personally believe that Christopher Eccleston was plan A - shot down by Chris himself, Paul McGann was plan B and another Classic Doctor was plan C - both shot down by the BBC, and a secret Doctor was plan D. So given the circumstances I think Moffat did the best to please everyone with what he was given (And I am sure he pulled every string he had to get a McGann minisode and a Tom Baker cameo)."

      www.digitalspy.com/tv/cult/a536819/doctor-who-matt-smith-is-the-13th-doctor-says-steven-moffat/
      Moffat retcons if so the Tenth Doctor is one Doctor in incarnation 11 and 12. So while it’s one Doctor. It takes up two spaces in the cycle. Moffat even says Smith is the 13th incarnation in this article. Also the line “thirteen silly Doctors” is said in the episode. 😀

    • @bobdallas4860
      @bobdallas4860 9 месяцев назад +1

      @CultOfThirteen I feel like Moffat's explanation is an oversimplification for the casual viewer to understand what is going on and because people often overlap the terms incarnation and regeneration, whilst I agree there were 12 regenerations and 10 did regenerate in The Stolen Earth, I do not agree that he is two different incarnations.
      Besides, if we take into account BTS stuff, you should also take into account RTD's comments that every Doctor bigenerated.
      The 13 silly Doctors line is also an oversimplification and a reiteration to the rule.
      But again, I don't think it's a set in stone thing and is open to interpretation, as I said in my first comment.
      If we are doing an analogy with the U.S. presidents, if Joe Biden is reelected this year he won't be the 47th president, he will still be the 46th, but if he loses and he is reelected in 2028, he will be the 48th, similarly to Tennant's 10 and 14 Doctors.
      Besides, we're overlooking the most obvious evidence, that he isn't called the Eleventh Doctor post The Stolen Earth.
      He did not number his War incarnation because he wasn't considering himself the Doctor at that time, but surely he would have counted 10 as 11 because he wasn't ashamed with that particular incarnotion.
      Just my two cents.

      During the introduction, Davies reminded Moffat about "when we were making Silence in the Librabry, Moffat once told Davies the Very Last Scene Ever of Doctor Who."

      War Doctor after 9 is depicted in the video under timeline 3, timeline 1 and timeline 2 depict other 9th doctors that were originally intended to follow on from 8. The BBC has never declared anything non-canon, and Steven Moffat himself said he counts The Curse of Fatal Death, additionally, Paul Cornell also counts The Scream of the Shalka as an unbound timeline. So I’m going to go by the writers intentions and not fans who still incorrectly claim that some stories are non canon.

    The whole regenerations in NuWho is a total mess the showrunners and writers really screwed the numbers up and creating these unknown Doctors that no one asked for before Hartnell is totally disrespectful to his memory its been stated very heavily in "Mawdryn Undead" and "The Five Doctors" that the First Doctor is the original and there were no others before those faces shown in "The Brain of Morbius" are Morbius even The Seventh Doctor calls himself the seventh twice and The Eleventh Doctor refers to himself as 11 atleast that was before Moffat did his emergency rewrite for the 50th and didn't think things through.
    Paul McGann should had been in the 50th and be the one to change into Christopher Eccleston theyve really gone too far with wrecking established canon its becoming fanfiction.
    The Fugitive Doctor can't possibly take place before Hartnell because her TARDIS is a Police Box and she can't take place between 2 and 3 because hes already been through 13 regenerations in his first life cycle plus she doesn't know what a sonic screwdriver is plus The Third Doctor was in the Second Doctor's clothes it would make 10 times more sense if she took place into the future which im still sticking with that theory but also the fact Chibnall didn't think things through.
    Chibnall might had increased this but Moffat started this mess.

    • @CultOfThirteen
      @CultOfThirteen  8 месяцев назад +3

      This is very silly.
      Philip Hinchcliffe has stated very openly that those 8 faces in The Brain of Morbius were the Doctor. In fact those faces are said to be the Doctor in the story. The outcome of the Mindbend only works if they’re the Doctor.
      Yes many stories have said the First Doctor is the first, but they would since it’s established the Doctor doesn’t remember anything before 1 because of the mindwipe and the chameleon arch.
      Moffat wanted Eccleston in the 50th. He said no. Moffat then wanted McGann. The BBC said no. The Fugitive Doctor is intended to be pre Hartnell and the reason for the police box a mystery.
      “Moffat started this mess”. All he did was add a war incarnation and confirm that the first Tennant regeneration counted.
