Playoffs or no playoffs, Fever needs a skilled coach who can truly develop the talents on the team and take them to greater heights. Why pair a young team with a sophomore coach? It's a waste of everyone's time, efforts and talents. They are good enough for the playoffs but can be much better, imho.
The coach is bad... It's obvious after she let those runs go. Sides got destroyed by coaching. Fever were winning well, BUT then Hammond decided to coach and Sides decided to just stand there gapping and making bad decisions. They had a bad game plan that the other team overcame. Couple that with bad shooting--and then the fourth was a blow out because of no adjustments being made. If Clark wasn't able to contain Jackie Young, they'd probably have been blown out by 40 after the first sub rotation.
CC has an uphill battle. Not only does she have to worry about a coach but also an owner. She can’t control the misses or team members not being able to handle passes. She’s doing the right thing by letting the team work it out. She gets payed regardless. The most important thing is the fans and she signs autographs. The fans will be her voice.
I appreciate you being here after the Fever loss. Needed someone to share it with. Tough question. Tank and get a good draft pic or try to win. Paige Buckets and Caitlin would be dynamite together. Need to trade for another big if they get Paige. My suggestion? Let CC shoot 25 logo 3's per game to make the crowd happy, and then Tank. Even if you get lucky and make playoffs, you are not going deep into playoffs anyway
Agreed. Last season you had Aces, Liberty, and the Sun at the top...this year it's the same. Aces and the Liberty got star free agents to build those teams, but Indiana isn't Las Vegas or NY as far external opportunities and the ownership groups don't operate the same either. Seatle just built their team with star free agents too. So either do that, which I doubt they can, or build organically which imo then they need just ONE more piece to skip past being mired in mediocrity for 4 years and go into "we have a super team too" in 2 years.
If the Fever win more than 13 games (what they won in '23), I'll take it as a positive outcome, especially if that gets them to the playoffs. Beyond that, they need defensive help. Stat.
I mean, if I could write a script and it could play out, they get a lucky #1 lottery pick again and take Bueckers. Paige and CC both running point and shooting equally, best backcourt in history easy. They trade Wheeler, Mitchell, and Smith for a good solid big #3 to pair with AB and Fagbenle and they would dominate under leadership of new coach, like a Mark Jackson type. But that is just a dream at best.
I was looking at 6'2" Rebecca Allen on the Mercury thinking about how quickly I would swap a couple old guards out for her, might even send Smith if they sent picks back so I completely agree with all of this. Even getting the 2nd wouldn't be a bad consolation prize, Iriafen is a jumpshooting 6'3 wing/big hybrid that can can dunk off of one dribble and jumps for rebounds and on defense. And can catch. BUT, CC and Paige is ideal, I was rubbing my hands thinking about it at 1-7, and I'd prefer to watch Kiki stay home in LA. As long as neither ends up in Dallas, Washington, or Atlanta
I'm with you. 3 games left against the Lynx I have them taking one of those, and a back to back against the Aces that I think they'll split. NY on Saturday is definitely ripe for a loss too
@@micdewittHave to say. So much improvement in a short period. They actually hung with the Aces. They are not going to shoot as badly in most games as they did that 4th Qtr. Run and gun offense keeps them competitive against anyone but looked liked they were gassed 4th Qtr.
@@FUBAR1986 analytics depts in every franchise, players read scouting reports before every game, and they look at their schedules when they're released and mark potential schedule losses, or games that they want to rest stars. They don't just lace em up and play, they look at a lot of statistics first and that helps them win. And why oddsmakers are pretty good at setting the odds before any bets influence the lines

My guess is a broken small foot bone and she’ll be in a boot. Those take forever to heal. What I really want to see is if the WNBA will back up what they said by naming CC the number 1 alternate. DT and CC looked to exchange positive words at the game and DT praised her in the post game interview. I think when you are the number 1 player on the opposing team scouting report, it’s got to mean something. I just want a USA team CC jersey.

I want the team to do well, but, even if we made the playoffs with the current team complement, what would happen? Win one game ... lose the first game, and we're out? Just seems like there's only so much we're ultimately going to achieve with the current team. I think the real benefit, besides being able to be high on the list for next year's draft, would be losing the coach.
