1090 Jake shares his story about joining the Bloods gang as a teen in Tampa, Florida. He says that most of the people around him at that time were part of the Bloods, leading him to follow suit. The gang is primarily made up of African-Americans, and as a white member, Jake navigated his path within the gang by proving he was capable of violence. He mentions he was accepted by the gang before facing racial discrimination in county prison. Jake asserts that while racial divisions exist in the prison system, Florida is an exception where "anything goes." He further explains, the only white gang in Florida known as 'Unforgiven' has essentially no respect within the prison system.
