I thought I could be a full-time entrepreneur, but what I found about myself when I was laid off is I don’t have the discipline. I work better with structure than a 9 to 5 offers and I like a study paycheck. I decided that I’m still going to pursue entrepreneurship, but I also still continue working my job. Good luck to you! ❤
Stability is everything! What an extra job does for you, that is what having God in my life does for me. You are doing Great! Keep going. Sounds like you are figuring things out and it is working out for you and the girls.🎉 Don't stop! Just know somebody is out here praying for you!❤
I understand 100%. I am a wife and mother of 2 kids. Finding the balance between finishing my two degrees, running my company, and being present for my family is 😪🥱 exhausting!
This is such a good video. You have to do what is best for you. One thing one thing I wish more women were honest about is that sometimes they have kids at the wrong time. This is we’ve been conditioned to think that’s all we came to earth for. Having kids is a blessing for sure. But so is fulfilling your purpose and having kids at the right time with the right person. Good for you in changing direction to take care of your wellbeing.
Who will decide what is the wrong time? Not everyone can order them like they come from domino's or so. I think better at the "wrong time" than being too late, and already infertile. But that is just my perspective, as someone that loves children very very much, wothout children, that works with children that is 24.
I have worked full time 9-5 for decades and have had a business for 26 yrs. that is NOT a side hustle. I attempted to work my business full time for 2 years and it was tough. I was working 16 hr days and had no joy. Good for you to step out on doing what you felt was best to bring that balance to your life. Over the years I have bonded with other women of color in the same business and we have formed our own network to keep each other lifted and inspired. You are doing great, Amber. I am such a fan. I miss your hair videos, but just love how you keep it moving... Love and Respect
So many people were becoming content creators especially during COVID so it's so congested. But you were around before then and you still have your faithful subscribers.
Amber, you've obviously been through the fire and come out the other side more grounded, grown and gorgeous. No need to make excuses for your choices and your life. We all have to hustle to get where we want to go. Find your happiness however you can and take care of you.
I was influencing and working part time in 2016 and lived a comfortable life. My mistake was not working with more agencies and diversifying more. Mind you, I don’t have kids, that’s a huge burden even with a 9-5 and society doesn’t make it easy for women.
This is the best thing ever please tell all these dam RUclips the truth and they should stop with the mess of quitting their 9 to 5. everyone wants to get rich quick and act like working as a RUclipsr is crazy. child I work and love my job and still a content creator. blessing to you
Amber, you do you! Your old videos helped me decide to "go natural" back in the late 'teens. Am forever grateful for this, but we're in different phases of life. I retired in 2020 (the pandemic accelerrated it by a few months, but I'd long planned on retiring in 2020).. You seem to be open to whatever life brings you. As an oldie, I know that this is the best way (wish I'd known this when I was young). Still no regrets and I'm looking forward to seeing where you go in the future.
It can get tough to have a business when YOU are your business. You have a good following...you may simply need to do something else for now until you are re-inspired. Take this time to re-discover what inspires you at this time of your life. We'll be here!
Thanks so much for sharing! I’ve enjoyed your channel for years. This was a very timely post. I’m not aspiring to be a content creator, but it still encouraged me. I’m a. My late 40’s and a former stay at home mom who is working to return to working full time. I’m working part time while taking classes to inter a different career field. It is really hard balancing family and work. I don’t always feel encouraged or supported by my family. I want to finish what I’ve started for myself. I feel like I’ve given so much of myself for everyone else for so long. I’ve set a goal to finish all of my classes before I turn 50 years old, but feel like certain responsibilities will require me to slow down. Honestly, the thought of slowing down my aspirations is frustrating. Listening to your story helped me see that slowing down a bit is better than quitting and to appreciate the lessons and opportunities that may come during this detour. The main thing is to be kind to myself and keep going. ❤
This is so refreshing. I’m retired. All my life I’ve listened to women talk about work/life balance likes it’s all doable. And it is, but to do both well alone, without unusual resources, is not realistic. Something always suffers. I respect you for your transparency and honesty. No matter what you do, your success will be evident through the genuine reflection of what it means to be a whole woman. Hoorah for you!!
I saw so many people on RUclips say they went back to work part-time but still kept their RUclips job, are there entrepreneur business but just got a part-time job because they had bills to take care of and they had children to take care of because they did like you are doing they're doing what works best for them and their family
Thank you always for being transparent and sharing your life experiences with us. Maybe it's just me, but it sounds like you didn't have the support you should have had in your life to be able to make the mental and emotional space to take care of your family, your business and yourself🥺. I'm sorry that you had to go through those tough transitions seemingly alone, but I'm glad to see you on the other side thriving as a woman, a mom and a boss❤️. We're always rooting for you over here, friend😊. I'm glad that you've found such a bespoke fit in your new role, and thank you for coming back to update us every so often along the way. Congratulations, and we're all happy to keep cheering for you😊.
To each its own! Some of yall don’t have financial discipline and I think that’s the biggest issue. Make your money work for you. Not everyone wants to have a business nor does anyone want to work for someone else making them rich.
This is a great video on entrepreneurship ! I left corporate American in 2016 at the age of 35 and realize it’s just not for me! I can make more money doing my won thing. The time i was spending building their life and business i can do that for myself; i can invest start my money; start my youtube and social media content and be paid more instead of waiting on them to give me $1-$2 raise. Sometime you may have to go back to work for a little while but keep working on your side business and you will succeed
Amber, I have been watching you for years and I just want to say I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!! You are so strong, so resilient, and adaptable. You do what you need to do to keep you and your girls safe in this world!
This was my experiences being a college student and mom and freelancing aaaand working part time…. It just created a year after year series of damaging my body and not prioritizing my health. My skin, hair, and body suffered for that! Luckily for me I was wearing locs so I could get away with not doing moisture routines (I have curly hair) buuuut everything else suffered and I wasn’t even working to the capacity I needed to in order to financially thrive…. I was just making myself suffer. I think it’s important for us to realize what’s going on with our bodies and life.. and to make changes when necessary!
This was such an informative and vulnerable video. Thank you so much for sharing. This inspired me immensely and gave me the motivation to give myself grace. As a mom to young children, I feel like sometimes I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. This video reminded me that there are many paths to my road to success. Thank you for sharing🤎🤎🤎
I have been watching your channel since shortly after you created it, so I’ve been here through all the seasons with you ☺️ I’m so happy to hear you’re doing well and much happier now that you have more overall stability recently 😁 Life is beautiful and rough, all at the same time, but you’re handling it like a BOSS🙂 This new journey you’re on will take you to great places and lead you to the success that you deserve 😉 Keep holding on strong, pushing towards your dreams, and stay positive to keep your mental energy balanced ✨💖✨
Wow this is a great topic! I feel that way working on 9-5. I’ve had to make boundaries and work less hours. I always thought being an influencer would be more freedom as a mom, but this has opened my eyes!
I work 9-5 , I know people who’ve left to do buniness running care homes the likes. They make good money but here’s the thing they work HARD!!! Even weekends non stop 24. 7. And the responsibility. I could never. I stick to my 9-5 clock off, get sick pay , relax when I’m off etc
Not easy to be self employed. But…depending of what kind of business she has it could possibly work for her so that IF she’d be sick(cold/flu), or have a dr.‘S appointment or she wants to focus more on family time all this flexibility goes a away with a 9 to 5 job. If the company she works for one day closes she’s stuck having to start over again somewhere else OR go back to being self employed…it’s a delicate position to be in but as long as she’s comfortable with her choice and she evaluated all possible outcome it’s all that matters
Wow! This is Fantastic sometimes God puts you in places you need to be. Your gift is now helping other people. if you didn’t start working part time the women you are mentoring would miss out on what to expect ups down your firsthand knowledge you’ve been thru it all so it’s perfect So Yay! For you Amber I’m a longtime follower so I seen stuff… 😂And this is an amazing part of your journey.. you go girl very proud of you❤
Do what makes you happy. Money is nice, but is it worth your health and sanity. Do you. I will always remain a follower even if you make content once a month. I am here for you. I learned so much about my own hair care journey because of your videos. Thank you. I take part-time content creator any time. Even if you decided to give it all up, I will always go back to your videos just to remember how to do this or that or whatever. Thank you for helping the natural hair community through the years.

Yeah, noooo... I knew being a full time entrepreneur was not gonna be my thing.😂😂😂 I saw my dad go through it (self employed truck driver). I decided I'm keeping my day job while keeping the "fun" in my side hustle.lol I have to say I am amazed at how long you've held this channel for and you've done great things.
