Not a word about Joey Tempest from Europe? This is the most interesting and surprising news from Opeth to cooperate with a classic hard rock singer with his capacity. That is something to look forward to. I hope JT can contribute and make a new dimension to the melodies and arrangements in the lead performance. We will see.

Opeth just keep marching on some 30 years later. This song just gets better every time I listen to it and Mikael sounds like he hasn't missed a beat. That album artwork might be my favorite so far and the story concept surrounding it has mystery and intrigue at every detail.
I love every album. Progressive Death Metal, Canterbury influenced progressive rock, and whatever elements Mikael throws at the wall. It's going to be glorious to hear it all come together with my favorite growler in metal doing his thing again. Since they went full on progressive rock it's taken every 2nd album a while to sync in for me. Heritage made sense from the first listen. They were finally going balls out and following their muse. I didn't really get Pale Communion fully until I started playing it after we had a release date for Sorceress.By that time I had gotten more into 70's progressive rock and proto progressive metal. Lucifer's Friend and IL Paese de Balocchi soon became two of my favorites of all-time. Sorceress had me from the first track. I have all three versions of In Cauda Venenum. It was the release of the "extended release" 3 disc version that I started to love it. When I started hearing reports of Mikael growling on live versions of songs from the last four albums, like I'm sure many fans did, I was expecting at least one track from the next studio album to have his signature growls in place once again. I'm already hearing "final album" rumors about this being this one. I assume it's becuse of the album title and the formal wear the band is wearing in the press releases . I really don't think that's what this is. Then again "The Last Will and Testament Of" with guttural vocals could be "The Sting" that "is in the tail," As much as I would miss my favorite progressive outfit of all time, it would almost be fitting if this is the end. I hope nope not. Since hearing Opeth, in what seems like aeons of time ago, My ridiculously large and growing physical release music collection has basically had two categories for a couple of decades. Opeth music, and the music I discovered before Opeth, and the albums I discovered between Opeth releases. Nothing lasts forever but I'd sell a kidney to ensure we get a few more Opeth releases.Right now I'd sell a finger or two for it to be October 12th already.

Awesome snippet and great picture! I am looking forward to this quite a bit. The last 3 albums frankly are not bad at all. My favorites are still My Arms, Your Hearse and Watershed, but hearing more "metal" Opeth again will be a treat \m/ \m/
