How I Convert FLog2 to Rec709. (No Luts)

- Dear Ghosts,
A lot of you have asked for a colorgrading guide so here is a very basic flog2 conversion i use. I may do a more comprehensive one in the future once Flog2 is supported. Surprisingly I haven't seen anyone post about this topic. ArriLogC is the best match for FLog2 I think, though you may have to correct some red, green tones. I've uploaded a petition for Flog2 to be supported natively in Davinci Resolve, though my channel is quite small i thought I would try anyway. If LEICA L LOG can be supported, there's no reason FLog2 can't be one year after release. If all 750 of you sign it and share it to some others to then maybe we can reach our 1000 signature goal.
Love,
CGC

Update: FLOG2 IS FINALLY SUPPORTED NATIVELY IN DAVINCI RESOLVE! There you can transform normally with colorspace transform.
With the newest version of Davinci Resolve, Arri Log C has been replaced by Arri Log C3, which should function identically.
Finally someone spoke up about it, it's been over literally a year since the XH2s release.. this is beyond sad that there isnt any FLOG2 support T_T
Yup, I will say that ArriLogC is a good bandaid.
So that’s why you left Fujifilm……T_T

Great Video!! Love the simple breakdown of your color grading process with Flog2
I only make videos that I would want to watch
Thanks for making it quick and simple. Love this type of tutorial!
Are you sure you wouldn’t prefer me explaining what this video is about for the first 2 minutes?
Super nice. Subbed. Thanks a lot
Hey, Davinci Resolve finally supports Flog2 natively for color space transforms. However, you may find a subtle interesting look with this method anyway.
Like!
Hi, I went into this today. Going step by step as you showed here. Interestingly, I have only "ARRI LogC3" and "ARRI Log C4" to choose from (Input Gamma). The C3 looks very dark, the C4 very bright. I am running DR 18.1.4 build 9 ... I guess trial and error is a good way to go ... !??
Depending on your exposure, the log profiles have considerable dynamic range so you want pretty strong contrast. If you're a beginner at color grading might i suggest using the brighter log profile and reducing gain and midtones
@@cleverghostchili Great advice ! Thank you so much. I feel like in a CG-class here with you as my teacher :-) ... I have some test footage around from a family event and will practice now.
@@fauland_photography Best of luck!
Up, up and away!

@@cleverghostchili I'm running into the same issue! The ARRI LogC3 completely blows out my highlights :(. Why did the standard ARRI LogC disappear? Do you know how to get it back? The conversion looks great for you using it. Any help would be super appreciated 🙏
@@henri-julienunfortunately all I can suggest atm is revert to a previous version of davinci 17. That’s the sole reason why I haven’t updated 😭 will report back if I find another solution as I will be forced to update soon
👏👏👏👏
Stay awesome,

Thanks for the video, exactly what I was looking for :). Question: what settings do you use in the "color" tab of your project settings? If I'm not mistaken you can already convert your footage to arri 3c in there.
I've never tried it converting it that way with with input lookup tables, i always manually colorspace transform, kind of a habit by now. Also sometimes i might use a different colorspace if a clip has a kodak lut, so I have no Lut selected for all settings
I use Blackmagics 5th generation lut and it gets me really close to what I want.
Amazing, under project settings, what your timeline color space and output color space?
Colorspace is Rec709-A (because im on Mac) and the output colorspace is "same as timeline", and i just use CST for everything output to rec709 gamma 2.4. Also slight update, with newest davinci you use Arri Log C3, which should be identical
@@cleverghostchili thanks for your reply, you mean Arri log c3 as an input for the first cst?
@asmashingwayita9200 yes for the first cst just like the video, instead of Arri log C which has been replaced, you’ll have to use Arri log c3
The Fuji flog2 conversion luts are super weird in my experience. Have you tried them? They look awful honestly.
Yes, i dont like them that's why I made this video. I think the luts will work well if you expose similar to the maker of the LUT, but the problem is that everyone exposes differently
Hi. Can you reveal the contrast settings
Hi this video was a long time. Luckily i think i found it in an old drp! Something like...
Primary color wheels: 1.3 contrast, 0.04 lift, -0.10 gamma, 0.76 gain, 20 shadow, -20 Hi/Light
You can also do this with curves which might be more intuitive, however there's no way to describe it specifically like I have here
