Someone please tell Taliesin that Alleria and Turalyon *can* touch when she's not in her empowered void form. They do in one of the books. He keeps making that mistake, and he's usually pretty accurate with the lore.
That’s stupid, the promotional short story they heavily promoted for BFA made it seem like they couldn’t touch at all.
I mean it could be easily explained with the void influence actually getting worse with time, which could be why her voice is also a lot more echoey in her normal form.
Eh, I'm cool with them able to touch now. There's an understandable difference between the times where you've just received a big power-up and when you've mastered that power fully.
Shadow Priests don't have to be in Shadowform all of the time either. And if void wielders couldn't suppress their energies, we'd have had a much easier time in discovering who was a Twilight Hammer infiltrator.
After what happened at the Sunwell I'm not suprised she thinks she should stay away from her Family.

I would argue the line asking Khadgar how he is, is very needed and intentional. What is does, is create a touchstone moment for players, where if and when something happens involving Khadgar we will wonder if he knew something was coming, or he already felt himself fading etc. Specifically because his answer wasn't a customary platitude or throw away like "I've been better", there was a moment where just maybe, he thought about mentioning something else to his friend. With what has been shown on the Alpha, I think it entirely reasonable for this to be included where it is.

at 42:00: I don't think that Jaina already knows that Anduin has visions too. I think she is going to go find out who does, and then that quest to finding out is what leads her to Anduin. Bit nitpicky I know, but yeah, I don't think she is going straight there. That also fits with the timeline of when the war within cinematic takes place and where this one takes place
I don't think that the dialogue where they ask each other how they are is unimportant actually. I think that they wrote Alleria's question to Khadgar, so that he would ask her afterwards how she is, and that part is important because it shows something about the characters. Alleria isn't doing very well with family and Khadgar is sorry for asking about it. So there is progression and importance there as it sets up our expectations of her relationships for the future. In general there is a world where they left out Alleria's question, and go straight to Khadgar's, but Alleria's is also there to set the stage for how long it's been for them seeing each other. Which is a really long fucking time
I agree with Evi as well about Khadgar. He looks soo different and it's weird to see haha. It's like his face is a lot more slim, and it's not just age showing. I hope they don't go with that look, because I actually dislike it
at 1:01:00 Alleria and Turalyon can touch each other btw. She is keeping her distance, because the void has a habit of popping up whereever she is and also likely because she knows the void is dangerous in general with temptations and whatnot. Trying to keep it all away from her family. It is also likely because she knows that she has changed and she isn't ready to deal with any of it yet
The idea that Alleria and Tyralion cause an explosion when they touch is only true when she is in her purple void form- that is when it occurs in the (excellent) radio drama. We see in Before the Storm that they sleep in the same tent, are implicitly sexually intimate, and that they can touch with no issue.
So she is staying away from family for other reasons related to the void, which i think offers quite a bit more dramatic tension anyway.
The expodey thing is headcanon a LOT of people on forums and threads and such seem to have accepted (mostly to argue against the inclusion of paladin for void elves as an option, which is annoying), but it isn't situated in the lore. Tali observes correctly that disc priests would have a very hard time if void + light always exploded, and the fact is lightforged can be shadow priests, who explicitly use the void, and void elves definitely spend 2/3 of their time as priests using holy magic.
So yeah, not a hard and fast rule despite the chatter.
They did not sleep in the same tent but they touch like thrice in the same chapter and is said she really loves his touch, like it is a soothing balm.
In the Vow Eternal it is said word for word that there was some tension but they have rekindled their romance

I think Alleria's reaction is not so much to the "Void" part of Khadgar's comment as it is to the "same old Alleria" part. She's definitely *not* feeling like the same old Alleria lately, and is not entirely sure about or happy with who or what she has become.

Love when you break down cinematics, the history, lore, I learn so much. The "Harbinger" connection was smart and interesting! Everything makes sense after watching.
Tali, the Wrathion legendary shot is from the balloon photo quest in Thaldrazus, not Waking Shore - I just want to make sure you are aware because I'd hate for you to miss it if it came around.

I like the familiarity that the "redundant" dialogue shows between Khadgar and Alleria, it shows you that these two are actually old friends that we havent seen together since _WARCRAFT 2_
They both were in Legion. I'm not sure if there is any meeting of them shown in the Expansion, but in a universe where teleportation is a thing and rather cheap and easily available it is safe to assume they have met on plenty occasions since and had a few nice talks since WC2.
Skipped ahead so maybe I'm missing context but 26:24 to 27:05 was PAINFUL to watch. Poor Evi.

normally I'm with Tali complaining about the "how are you" dialogue, but in this case isn't it meant to show that Khadgar and Alleria have an important history together and haven't seen each other in a long time? I thought it was fine in this specific situation

Really interesting comment about Alleria using work to avoid family / isolate (maybe). Per Sylvanas novel, her parents did the same, especially her mom. Dad was a diplomat or smtg, out of town a lot. Mom the ranger-general of the high elves. Interesting too that Alleria, the oldest sister, refused to become ranger general herself. Wonder if that part of her history would ever come up again?
I think Alleria might be getting the head aches because Xal'atath is in Dalaran. Maybe they can feel each other???
Wow, Tali can be SUCH an ASS to Evi sometimes. Watching their dinner discussion 26:02 where he was not listening to her, and then he has the audacity to reprimand her for not "providing context", and then him completely disregarding her defense that she did mention dinner, and THEN him passively aggressively calling her out for not instantly recalling the name of the Darkheart patch....I was done with this video at that point. And Evi was clearly unimpressed, but she moved on accepting it all gracefully without a word of complaint. I would have left him years ago.
One thing I wish for from your channel is the old format back when doing cinematic analyses. Having it as a podcast topic is better than an editet stream bit, but nothing beats the old scripted format. I'm sure it was a lot of work, but it was genuinly my favourite content from you guys.
I have a theory. Alleria will be the final boss of the expansion. Midnight being a focus on the elven tribes coming together could the after math of her death. She seems to be struggling with the whispers. Xalatath may sway her throughout the story.
I immediately wondered if Khadgar is sick in the cinematic. He doesn’t look well. Thought maybe preparing us for some life change with him…
What if Khadgar gets thrown into a void-rift and next time we see him, he's together with Medivh who we know is out there

They COULD work it that when Medivh made Khadgar old in his youth it fixed his age, at say 60. And he's still 60 and will stay 60. Edit: Knowing Tony Amendola is retiring, and if they want to keep Khadgar, maybe something will happen to him during his Nerubian torture/capture (I doubt he's dead unless they are bringing Arator to be the new head), and it changes his voice/looks.
Indeed. There's a lot of ambiguity around the spell he cast on Khadgar that allows for flexibility. Throughout the years there's been speculation that Khadgar may have reversed the effects to some degree or that he didn't age any further, or it may have aged him, but he didn't lose any of his lifespan.
According to a blue post, Dragonflight takes place in year 40, which is 37 years after Medivh cursed Khadgar in year 3. So if Khadgar was aged to be around his '50s or '60s 37 years ago, he would be physically be between his mid to late 80s and over 100 now. He definitely does not look or act that age at all. Based on lore he should be in his mid to late '50s which seems a bit more accurate though maybe a tad young given the burden he's carried most of his life.
I think you're right that it's a mixture of pre-rendered and in-game footage. The shot at 1:06:15 where you start to second-guess yourself - Khadgar's outfit is different from how it appeared in the close-up shots.
your math on key lvls is not correct tali - its +10 not double - so an 8 is like an 18 of old keys and m0 takes around +10 difficulty but without affixes and timer so more 8ish i guess
To Talie's point around 50ish minutes; and I definitely do appreciate him breaking down his literature and acting background, I think they were maybe the direction was to specifically convey something. I think, in this extent, they were trying to make Alleria seem more fleshed out and three dimensional. Some people might not know her history, so I think a bit of that added dialogue that does seem a bit like "padding" is placed there specifically to humanize Alleria a bit.

BTW Mythic dungeons will be changing to be a difficulty of current M+10, but will drop current M+10 loot without a timer or affixes. So you are doing better than you think though the affix change makes things easier as well. If they doubled each time that would be absurd and wouldn’t make sense. The difference between levels would become huge… ie… you would do a 20 and it would be like a 40 but you do a 15 and it would be a 30…. This is not the case. Cutting edge groups are already doing +19.. which are like 29s. This makes sense instead of people already doing 38s.
I would usually agree on the « no how ya doin’ » between characters but in this instance I really loved it. It almost brought me to tears having Alleria and Khadghar, who have been through so much, casually exchange FOR ONCE. This made them feel so relatable, especially because WoW really follows that rule and NEVER goes for the how you doing. It’s always « YOU ARE NOT PREPARED » or « I FAILED MY PEOPLE » « HOW CAN WE EVER RECOVER FROM THIS » « WHAS DIFFERENT THIS TIME WE ARE » super drama (that i love) but super heavy

Tali i love you but it is 100% an in-game cutscene. They call it that in the original upload description. They have just gotten this good. We can tell that it is an in-game rather than a pre-rendered because of their walking animations and the way their clothes stretch rather than flow. Jaina's walk into the portal and alleria's walk up to the platform are both the default walking animation rather than a pre-rendered walk. Khadgar's little overcoat thing stretches with his arm movements as it does in the regular game and has no independent physics comparable to how it did in the pre-rendered cinematic he was in with Kalecgos at the start of Dragonflight. You can also look at their hair movements for this - Alleria's hair has the default in-game physics long hair has in the regular game, as opposed to the way it kind of can bounce and flow as Kalec's does in the khadgar cinematic I just mentioned or even the one where Alleria consumes the void from Legion. This is 100% an in-game cutscene, they have just gotten VERY good.
To me, the "Doing well?" question was put there so that Khadgar would ask a similar question in return out of politeness, and that would lead to the topic of the Void being brought up. So to doesn't seem like filler to me!
I still love that Khadgar cinamatic. That, Jaina's in bfa obviously, and probably ardenweald afterlives are my favorites I still watch sometimes.
If you’re doing the hard keys and are so geared as you say then carry her to get more gear in the mythics also she would get better vault items. Also mythic zeros would help …
Khadgar's face is slimmer, more frail and somehow more boyish looking than we're used to. And smaller. And I think that the sheer exhaustion that the voice actor is putting into his voice, making Khadgar sound so TIRED, old and almost weak, in combination with this unfamiliar face is what makes people confused about his "change". So he sounds ANCIENT but looks almost youthful which contradicts each other, adding to the feeling that something is WRONG.
Im excited to see what the Arathi undead are gonna be like. In my head i want them to function similar to protoss dragoons or the daenei/eredar mechs where they're fallen soldiers willingly brought back to serve again.
I'm not so sure that the back half of the cutscene is prerendered. It looks very strongly like this cutscene was all in game render.

Khadgar would be around 60, now. I remember that he was 17 way back in WC1, and Medivh's spell made him look 30 to 40 years older.
Just saying: radiant song sounds more like light to me than Azeroth. From the blizzcon cinematic, I thought Azeroth also, but seeing this cinematic, I'm not sure!
I'm hoping Blizzard is trolling us with the destruction of Dalaran. Perhaps parts of Dalaran are broken off and fall but Khadgar mid-battle portals away, goes to Karazhan, gains the mantle and power of the Guardian, then saves Dalaran and portals it to the new zone. Perhaps at the end though he is taken hostage or is lost , only to return with the light-forged Draneii from the AU Draenor!!
There is one thing that bother me...is that sometimes...the player character doesnt seem to exist at all in story, like...player character shadow priest during legion would be the person everybody ask about the void and the hardbringer...

No, they do. Bobby just wouldn't let them kill sylv cause of merchandising and the fact that she was the most recognizable character in Warcraft.
But most of the characters they kill just happen to be horde. Saurfang etc.

Totally disagree on the "how are you" thing. I think she asks it so that Khadgar can NOT say he's fine. I think Khadgar has some kind of terminal illness, or is feeling like death is coming somehow. He has repeatedly hinted he's not OK, that he thinks he's dying.

I do not think this is actually a fully pre-rendered cinematic. That's why the models, the lighting and everything looks different. It uses cinematic models and cinematic animations but it is likely in fact rendered in-game real-time. This is why the character at the beginning could indeed be our player character.

Main reason i don't like the new Khadgar look is that i'm worried they're purposfully making him look older to visually suggest he's at the end of his life and will die for realsies in The War Within. I'm fucking *done* with wasting beloved characters for the Worf Effect. We're running out!
He canonicly appears old. Medivh drained him during their confrontation, leaving him looking old. If anything I'd say he looks too young now.

I mean, Khadgar would be pushing 50-60 at this point, and that's not including being magically aged, In reality his body is probably aged to twice that amount. The man is literally held together by magic at this point. His VA is pretty old too.
Realistically, there is only one thing they CAN do with Khadgar. It would be a waste if he died peacefully in his bed, Give the man his blaze of glory.
