Loved Evi’s breakdown of the short story. As a fellow “art history person” and poetry person I was sooo impressed by this story!!

People are wrong about *Dagran.*
Even Moira is proven wrong at the end. Yeah, he's painted as a weak do-nothing nerd at the start. But he *is not a second Anduin.*
Putting aside that Anduin became an incredibly powerful swordsman anyway, Anduin's deal is that he was unsuitable for becoming a swordsman. He lacked the strength, the skill and the emotional state for it. An overload of emotion has always been his deal. Anduin's tale is a tale of struggle. Living up to his legacy, his father, people's expectations, the Light. Even now, his journey is still about emotions.
That's not Dagran's journey. He isn't a warrior right now, because he does not want to be. His interests lie elsewhere. He wanted to find his own path. Not his father's path of strength. Not his mother's path of cunning manipulation. But though he treated his mother's path with disinterest, he did pick it up, better than she'd have ever imagined. I'm sure, if motivated and given a mentor for it, he'd pick up the ways of the warrior quickly too.
But while Moira is emotion and his father is strength, Dagran is brains. While he'll use the other tactics too, he is a problem-solver. And this story? It's his success story. He's not been doing nothing, he's been laying down the foundations for his own path, and now he is stepping up to walk it. Anduin will always have uncertainty. But this is the story where Dagran already found his way. He has chosen his path. And this tale? It's where he succeeds.
That said, did anyone else read this story and by the end feel Dagran is being written as being a Dwarven version of neurodivergent? He seems hard to read, even to his mother. He is a late bloomer. He is very smart and obsessively dives into his interests. And he has ways to go in learning to keep the emotional resonance with his audience, when veering off into his interests. If that's what they're going for, they did a pretty positive representation.
I look forward to seeing more of the character. The storytelling style, and dwarves, do not resonate strongly with me. But it's a good origin story for a character I would not mind seeing more of in the future.

I mostly agree with everything else you said though, but I do still worry a tiiiny bit about how well he fits in in TWW. A contrast, or less depressing character isn't always needed. Sometimes I want them to just let things be dramatic and bleak.

Remix mode is a pretty solid option during expansion wind down. I think timing will be super important for future Remix modes.
The problem I have with remix is you don't really play a your class. Most of the leveling experience is pretty quickly one shotting enemies. Part of the reason you choose a class at all is that you like the way it plays. If all you are doing is hitting one button, every class plays the exact same.
This kind of broke it for me. I love the idea but I think there needs to be some equalizing.
Ok, barely in and I can't stop looking at that new "OBVI(wow symbol)USLY" logo - i mean legendary. It's brilliant.
I would listen to Evi read that all day lol, I am big on the wow ebooks, I have downloaded most of them from audible and I will def be checking this one out
Respect and sympathy for both of you because you bring so much humanity and fun to a game like WOW.

For Evi and anyone else curious... Cat Valente is an absolutely great author. She has a book called "Space Opera" which is a scifi-themed love letter to Eurovision where a down on their luck band is chosen by aliens to compete to determine if humans are legally people or not. It's as bonkers and magical as it sounds and you should *absolutely* look her up.
I majored in Linguistics, and reading his breakdown of the script was *chef's kiss*

Weekly quests are confusing too. They need to be changed. Maybe to blue quests, maybe a different colour, but I am getting kind of sick of picking up a profession quest thinking it's something I've missed only to realize it's just a weekly quest that I have completed and don't need to do. Wouldn't be hard to just change their quest icon colour to blue, or green, or any other colour but yellow.

I love how Tali is such an eloquent speaker until he has to share the space with his wife. I feel so bad for Evitel sometimes. Not because Tali is a jerk or anything, but just because he's so excited she can't get a word in edge wise half the time.
I think a small change that'd be a big QoL help for new, returning and veteran players is for each quest to include a number that shows which expansion, patch and chronological point on the timeline it falls within that expansion somewhere in the quest description or name.
That way if you're trying to unlock Zaralek Caverns you can ignore any quest that doesn't start with 10.1.X
The Dragonflight prepatch was my favorite 😭😭😭 But then I'm really obsessed with the elements aesthetic, you could give me anything with the four elements and I'd love it XD (As you can imagine, I was really living in all of DF.)
In a nutshell, the Moira story does a really good job of sympathizing with many current western political issues without the narrative being controlled or injected by them. It developers characters respectfully, and Dagran is allowed to be "intelligently strong and masculine". Dagran's mental process is above much of the dross that has been plaguing Dwarven culture within the WoW universe.
Edit: As an additive, plants which grow amongst rocks might seem weak by comparison, but their roots will eventually break and fracture nearby rocks. The plant can grow and change. The rock doesn't. The "lilac" (or any plant) is actually a good metaphor to represent Dagran. He isn't set in his ways like so many of the other Dwarven leaders (as portrayed in the short story). Moira is worried that she's raised Dagran to be "too feminine" in a world seemingly dominated by masculine priorities and concepts. Fortunately, Dagran surprises her and proves her to be wrong.
I'm glad the podcast happened again. I enjoy these weekly shows.

If he's like me, he just needs someone to say "ok, hold that energy, just let me finish here real quick" the moment he interrupts in order to calm down and organize his thoughts... It sucks having that much energy and lack of self control, but it is manageable with a little help and patience.
Leveling in Remix is so much faster. I've deleted existing 60s to get a new 10 to 70 in a few hours.

Speaking of hidden quests, if you received Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest staff, there is a little questline in Dragonflight that turns the staff into the mount, so you no longer need the staff to transform into Tarecgosa.

Could have a few Northrend allied races, those ice dwarfs and tauren. Could even add vrykul and the amani trolls. And tuskarr for both!
I love Amadeus and also always talk about how good of a movie it is, mostly because though most people have never seen it so it's a sleeper talking point.
Not sure how I feel about early access, I will say this will be the first expansion since BC where I won't have auto quest accept turned on. I'm actually excited to not feel rushed to get to max LVL and start gearing and basically have the permission structure to enjoy the story.

Lmao, just had the most perfect ad timing: talking about not adding another support class and saying “they briefly dipped their toes into that with the oracle hero talent and the player base went like…” [watch this 47 seconds of calming music and visuals from the Calm app] :P I legit thought it was part of the video and that Tali was about to burst in with “Nah, it was a shit show obviously”!

I maxed my gear and bought every last thing I could with bronze in Remix. I'm still playing. I still play on my "main", mostly to help others. I also leveled a couple of alts which I also started to gear just to see how they perform at peak item levels eventually. I play less since I bought everything but I still play pretty much every day.
I assume they would only do another one at the end of TWW at the absolute earliest and by then I would probably look forward to it again. But I think I could also easily wait until the end of the world soul sage for another Remix. I really think they should keep the next Remix in reserve for whenever the next expansion will take a bit longer, it can be agreat gap filler.
I would love to meet you guys at Gamescom!! It would be so so lovely!! I'm a Cologne local and Gamescom is my yearly highlight, I just never get to meet creators I actually watch because they never make it all the way out here :(
Tali mentioned the time early access goes live. Where can I find that for my area? I was able to find the 26th launch time, but not early access, so I have just been assuming it’s the same.

Not to act like a boomer, but I really really really don’t want more classes. 😂 The various specs and class combo’s are already complicated enough for me to “grasp”, and already seem difficult enough to decently balance. Am I really alone in this? 😭
Reasonable balance is important, but perfect balance is a waste of time. Who cares if there's a top tier dps tbh.

There's nothig of value in the early access from "elitist" perspective. You don't gain any advantage power wise.
Why would Dwarves, a race generally defined by its expertise in craftmanship (art) and long memory of history (ancestors) act brutish around someone explaining the meaning of a piece that f art? That characterization of the dwarf nigh nobles doesn’t sit well with me. I’ll have to read the short myself. But that description worries me.
I think it’s in very poor taste and worldbuilding to write characters of a race based on stereotypes (that blizzard themselves came up with, yes). This is a great characterization of out-of-touch nobles in power who have little care or contact with culture, traditions, and issues of the people they supposedly represent-and I don’t think that such ideas should be written off because “dwarves don’t do that.” This is just my opinion of course.
Expertise in craftsmanship for war basically. Dwarves were always described as short tempered men with big axes and little patience. They hide inside mountains and are stubborn as rocks. There is nothing wrong with their chacracterisarion actually

except beta is beta and live is live. that 3 day difference means quite a lot to people who want to hit max level asap and start gearing for raids

theyre a well-matched couple (and entertaining and smart etc.) and they obviously love and care for each other, but often talie acts like a guy who's afraid his gf will leave him as soon as she perceives her own mate value accurately so he keeps trying to diminish her
