The Aquatic Elves seem like kinda the best of the elves in terms of being just generally pretty nice. Like they don't think super highly of the other peoples of Faerun but for pretty justifiable reasons
I think the accusation that Sea Elves aren't as magically inclined is High Elf propaganda to denigrate the Sea Elves and further demonize the Drow

I think that if I had to run the *Malenti* idea, i would do a thing where the party is hired by a sea elf clan who belive they are cursed, as more and more of their offspring age quickly.
"Over the last few centuries, more and more of their ilk seem to losing their elven longevity. This gets bad enough that even the eldest prince, next in line for their clan's throne, has started to age at an alarming rate, possibly sounding the end of the ruling family line. A quest is posted for a cleric to come investigate said *curse*, which can then be picked up by the party."
Great episode! The importance of keeping their word, sharing resources among their community, and enmity for Sea Devils make them way more interesting than I thought. My first impression was that they were an elf with gills. I’m happy that there is more to them ... that what you see on the surface. 🌊

Since picking up Monsters of the Multiverse. I've ended up playing more Sea Elf's than any other Elfs just because of the lore and are just really nice to everyone. I have 4 Sea Elf Characters; A L4 Horizon Walker Ranger/L1 Fighter, Oath of the Watcher Paladin L5/ Oath of the Ancient Paladin L5 & an Arcane Archer Fighter L6.

There are groups of good Mylentae (sorry for the misspelling) that live together in the Sea of Fallen Stars.

The complaints about elves having too many variants is unnecessary, Any D&D race should have as many variants as the setting requires, the problem is Forgotten realms being expanded to include everything makes everyone think D&D needs everything.

I get the things where people aren't into elves anymore, I'm playing a water genasi instead of a sea elf because there are just more exotic races now and elves are like last years news
I like sea elves more than tritons because i hate being charmed and being put to sleep against my will, i like not taking such a long long rest, and having extra proficiencies is cool. The spells that tritons get are kinda meh, and i never really find myself in a situation where talking to an aquatic monstrosity or elemental is beneficial or necessary. Sea elves are more versatile than tritons.

Imagine visiting a sea elf community your a half-sea elf . since sea elves like being isolated how would you explain to the elves on why your half-elf.
But are there lava elves?
I like elves, but I never liked how any of my players play them, they are all the same character with different skills, and it feels bad because I dont want to hate on them but its just so boring and eye roll inducing. Exception; one player played a elve with actual personality.

@@Sezren so wizards has added to drow lore now saying there are three types of drow. Those that are traditionally known about the matriarchal evil society rule by Lolth and her priests, drow that went north and like the cold, and more druidic drow that have powerful illusory magics
@@darnell1391 so is this changing the lore completely, or are they just adding new stuff? Like is the stuff we already knew still intact, or is it partially retconned?
Hard to say they haven't released all the details. I just know its tied to drizzt and whatever plans they have for the character
@@darnell1391 Hmmmm sounds a tad bit like they might be legitimizing Matt Mercer's version of the Drow from the Explorer's Guide to Wildmount...or they're just adding ice elves and earth elves to DnD...haha 😅
I had a real derp moment.
When Will said that Sea Elves are known for taming sea lions.
My mind instantly thought of an aqua based lion with a thin like seaweed mane, blueish green in colour. With huge webbed paws and arms in the front. But a big ass tail in the back.
When it roars, it caused like an under water tsunami or wave distortion.
