Southern Baptist here. She wasn’t “equipped” for spiritual warfare because it is not a focus of Southern Baptist doctrine like it is in some more charismatic circles. I can count on one hand the amount of times “spiritual warfare” has been talked about in my Southern Baptist upbringing. We choose to focus on the sovereignty of God and our personal responsibility of sin as our doctrine, as well as the perseverance of the saints, and much less of the devil is lurking around every corner. We believe spiritual warfare exists, but it is not a focus.
Oh that makes so much sense why she would use being raised in a southern Baptist church as a negative talking point because SO much of her online ministry is talking about spiritual warfare/battling demons and less about personal accountability and not giving into fear. Thank you for adding that context!
Is it just me, or do they come off as really inauthentic when they talk about demons? It's like some sort of catchall term - everything is attributed fo "demons", and that makes it really hard to take seriously.
For sure, it all comes off as very casual. If I thought I was dealing with a demon I would speak with reverence the entire time. The way they talk makes me feel like they don’t actually believe a lot of the stuff they say.

Mike and Mark love trying to trigger people. It’s ridiculous and doesn’t even work. People not responding positively to hateful views doesn’t mean they’re triggered it just means they disagree and don’t like what you’re saying!

I started going back to church after finding your channel.
I have actually been in the situation similar to Britney's. I had a husband that was unavailable emotionally, did not want to do house work, and did not work. After we parted, I used to say a lot of stuff about him. Because I was emotional. I was on edge, because I was basically a single mom with a grown up child. However, now I prefer not to talk about it. Out of respect to him, actually. But more because I just do not want to live it through while talking about it. So I can easily imagine why she was not nice to her husband in the beginning, and then decided to not talk about it anymore.
The amount of eye rolling about how just being a good Christian will save you from suicidal ideation-I cannot. As someone who’s been medicated for almost half my life due to depression and anxiety and having been suicidal at one point-who are you helping?!?!? Oh so God just hates me? If she were an atheist would she have died?
WftW-met my new psychiatrist (yay for the constant resident rotation every year) and didn’t feel judged having to tell my life story. Having him ask different questions than those previously and giving a variation of my current treatment that was NEVER approached before

I agree- I love long videos! While Running on my treadmill or putting them on as I go to sleep- the problem with the sleep one is that I get too interested and emotionally invested and I end up staying awake instead of getting my much needed sleep 😆

I will never get over the wild double standard of “burning sage to cleanse is bad” but “anointing with oil to protect” is okay. ‘Witches’ do both of those things lol.
She REALLY doesn’t understand that ‘witchcraft’ is JUST a practice. JUST actions. And it can be pretty much any practice or action that you put intention behind. And the intention can be rooted in literally anything or any religion. Despite what people say, you CAN be a christian who practices ‘witchcraft’, because ‘witchcraft’ can be literally any action you do. Asking God for protection through the physical action of anointing a place or person with oil or water, or smoking a room or person with herbs. Connecting to God through the action of communion, or meditating with Him out in nature sitting under a pretty tree. Praying to God before meals and bed, or having a specified ‘alter space’ to pray and dedicate and give thanks to Him through physical and spiritual representations. ALL of these things fit into Christianity as a religion, AND witchcraft as a practice.
There is SO much more ‘witchy stuff’ in Christianity than people want to acknowledge, and that is NOT a bad thing. Im so tired of “witchcraft” being a bad word in Christianity, and immediately being synonymous with the devil, when that is literally, by definition, incorrect and just plain ignorant.

My win for the week is cooking Thanksgiving dinner all by myself for the first time! I wasn't planning to do anything, but the day before I decided to go for it since I was feeling a bit homesick (I live abroad). Sooo sleep paralysis demons?!? I can’t!! Nope , just nope!!! Sleep paralysis is one of the symptoms of my disability. I should have just prayed my disability away… why didn’t I think of that?!?! I am feeling all the angry and ugly emotions at the thought that I just need to pray more.

19:21 I 100% think she is playing with words here. "Took my first handful" could mean that she ingested a handful of pills, or it could mean that she took a handful of pills from the bottle.
She’s previously said that she never took any of the pills, she’s so gross in the way she talks about this situation now. Her stories change every time she tells them.

I've been a Christian for my entire life and I can pretty confidently say that I don't believe anyone alive on this Earth actually HEARS God speaking to them. God puts thoughts in your head, or speaks through other people (in a way that He puts thoughts in their head about things they need to say to you).
It's crazy that a 16 year old has more common sense than 2 adults.

I was following her at the time and from my memory the majority of the comments were people asking her how she could do that to so many woman for so long.
She got a lot of kys comments and I believe she got a lot through PM/her website. The vast majority though were calling for her to be accountable to the people she deceived.

Spiritual warfare.. aka the guilt that comes from her past scams.. aka the pain of taking accountability for your actions is basically “spiritual warfare.”
i feel like theres something about these influencers and viewing speaking out against abuse, bad husbands, etc as like "disrespectful" rather than truthful and maybe she can be playing into that too since she's changed publicly since then.

And also, I wonder how many comments get deleted- can’t really trust the validity of comment sections, especially when the owner of said post is known to delete or block any commentary they don’t agree with.

It baffles me so much how people like her get so much support. And that the majority of people can't see through her. They are watching but not really listening and really paying attention. They just believe what she has to say and don't care about analyzing it for themselves.. 😢 especially (maybe) the more younger audience who are mostly easier to deceive.

I find all these "I became Christian testimonies" a lil dangerous. Ofcourse there are genuine ones out there, but unfortunately with social media these days, there are a lot of phony's 😢 I just don't know how to feel about that.. social media is a dangerous place, especially when you're an attention seeker and will do basically anything to "go with the flow of the audience"

I really preferred listening to this retelling! It’s really triggering for me to listen to people like Britney for too long. I often can’t finish listening to your podcast - though I love hearing your takes! - but sometimes it’s too overwhelming to listen to the Christian-ese scare-tactic rhetoric.

So I used to be a witch before I had an encounter with God and gave my life to Christ. I was a sex worker, deeply suicidal, and an addict. I had an encounter similar to Brittany because I was ready to end it all when I heard God in my car. He said “I have work for you to do.” And I gave my life to Jesus. I threw out all my witchcraft stuff and experienced waves of deliverance too. The spiritual realm is more real then this world we’re in now. Suicidal thoughts is absolutely a spirit of murder and God delivered me from it. I could see and hear in the spirit when I was saved and I saw/heard demons running when I experienced my conversion. I get that it sounds crazy if you’ve never experienced something like that. It’s hard to articulate. It’s like trying to explain what faking in love is like to someone that’s never been in love before. I don’t think it’s fair to nit pick her suicide story. When she said God wasn’t in her townhome, I took it as she wasn’t honoring God in her home. It was so dark, it felt like he wasn’t there. Realistically we know as Christians that God is omnipresent. Also if she didn’t mention she took a handful of pills in another podcast she may not have been ready to share that yet. It’s a heavy topic. I think a lot of what you’re saying could be resolved by talking directly to her.

I grew up in a church where it was taught every bad thing happening in your life was demonic or demonic oppression. If those things were happening then you weren’t reading your bible enough or you just weren’t a good enough Christian. They encouraged getting medical help as a last resort, but encouraged fasting, praying, and deliverance. It was interesting, everything going slightly bad was demonic. It couldn’t have been a chemical imbalance, or life getting you down. NOPE! It was demonic because you were a bad Christian.
Its weird how she used the same phrases in both of her suicide stories. I don't think I have EVER done that when authentically telling a story more than once. It's giving rehearsed. Maybe you have to rehearse stuff when you're an influencer, but it just futher adds to her fakeness. Or she probably just says stuff and thinks "oh yeah. That was a good one!" and puts it in her back pocket for later. Which is a really weird thing to do considering the context.

They are both meant to make Christians stumble! In these last days Satan is using all he's got and all he has in place to take our eyes off of Jesus. A lot of these "demon slayers" are causing confusion 😕

I hate how she talks about that suicide attempt. I have had a very similar near attempt and I have a hard time listening to her retell and inflate that story for sympathy. It does not feel genuine and using something so dark to flip the victimhood to yourself is disgusting.
And how can we believe anything she says?! Did she even really have a suicide attempt? Did someone really point her out and say that about her/to her?! How did she really come up with Hazel & Layne? Is it even really hers/her ideas/etc.? 🫣🤷🏼♀️
