Good video, thanks. The replacement parts I got for the tub seal had 3 parts - the spring-loaded seal, the cone-shaped mounting stem AND a teflon ring that had to be carefully seated in the underside of the mounting stem. The teflon ring will allow the mounting stem to slip around the carbon face of the seal during spin cycle. NB kits from several years ago had the teflon ring imbedded in the underside of the mounting stem.
Thanks for a great video ... everything was accurate. I would recommend getting the appliance out in a garage or an area with some room. This one is pretty clean, not so much on my 30 year old Maytag. She’s now good to go for another decade 👍🏻
Great video! Thank you! I didn't have the wrench, so I used a similar heavy hammer, and a long, flat ended bolt. Put the end of the bolt into one of the indents in the nut, then hammered on the bolt in a clockwise direction, and it came loose. Note: I'm not intending to reassemble the washer. I want to take the drum to use as a firepit
What do I do if the agitator shaft keeps popping out while agitating? Is there a way to keep the agitator shaft in place? The shaft comes out with the agitator.
Great video! I have a Maytag model LAT8706AAE which started leaking from the bottom of the tub. Should I just replace the Mounting Stem/Tub Seal Kit or should I also be prepared to replace the tub bearing kit?
When reviewing your model most customers have purchased the mounting stem/tub seal to correct the leaking issue from the bottom of the tub with your washer model. Some customers have purchased and replaced both the seal and bearing kit at the same time. I would prepare yourself just in case 😊
I have this identical washing machine but the entire axle/agitator assembly lifts free when there's more than a half a load of laundry. What's the problem with it? I've searched the internet but can't seem to find my specific problem.
... Thank you for a great video. That is the model I have. Your explanations were spot on. All back together and the basket will not spin/move. I believe I did everything in the correct order with no parts left over. ;-) Could I have tightened something too much. Tomorrow I am taking it back apart and starting over. Thank you.

Very useful! It covered everything step by step, and made my work easy.
Thank you. Worked right the first time. This video is a GEM!
This video is great - I can’t seem to get my seal off. Video shows it popping off after a few twists, but mine seems really stuck!
Beautifull Job and Help. Mine was leaking recently from tub seal.

How does one get that specialty wrench and what is it actually called? Part number?
Thank you. What is that gritty coating on the stem where the tub mates?
Anyone have a source for the spanner wrench?

Mine has the Metal Ring. Sumbitch won't come off. I will put some Butter, around it. The damn thing is probably Toast, anyway.
You should have recorded this in a dark hallway with the machines in a little cubby with a bad dryer vent hose and a cat that wants to help you .
LMFAO. Real world situation! His garage is impressively clean and clutter free.
When reality hits and you have to cut the mounting stem out with a chisel the entire job changes.
Ahh i see your also a man of culture
