    As a younger platinum guy myself who isn’t a business man or dresses fancy it’s always fun to have them thank you for being platinum. My brother is in his thirties and is a million miler and gets looks all the time lol.

    Thank you for the review. I'll be on a similar Delta 757-200 going to KEF from DTW but it's listed as Premium select instead of first class. And you sounded nicer to Karen than I would have been. Closing my window shade crosses the line for me.

    Karen was hilarious! POOOOKE!!!

    Wow, I definitely would've been annoyed especially if she's trying to make me shut my window while I am trying to make content. Props to you for remaining calm throughout the whole situation.

    I would have kept opening the shade to spite her. She’s more than welcome to go back to main cabin to sit. Not surprising she’s a Diamond member though

    I had a similar experience with a Karen on a flight a few years back while traveling with my sister. My sis was in the window seat and I was in the middle and while we were taxiing the Karen reached across me and my sister to shut the blind. However, she ended up smacking me in the face to which I started cussing her out. The F/A came over and while she was trying to explain her actions a few other passengers told the F/A she hit me. Plane turned around and Karen got to meet some very large and very annoyed Broward County Sheriff's. 🤣🤣

    How old was the lady who was bothering you? I was at Nassua in the 80s and they didn't have jetways. Will you be able to earn Platinum Medallion again this year? I wonder how much longer 757's will be flying for UA and Delta.

    • @theplanesguy

      She was most likely in her 40's or 50's. I just hit Platinum status for next year thanks to my credit card.

    to make it simpler you could of flown on British or Virgin to London to save the back and forth but Good video as always!

      As I mentioned in the video, this was part of a SkyMiles award redemption that was only available out of Nassau, which was 75K miles. Delta/Virgin business class awards booked out of the US usually start at over 300K miles, but since it was booked out of the Caribbean, it is priced differently. I was in no rush to get to Europe so I thought this would be a fun routing while getting a great deal at the same time. I did JFK-NAS-ATL-LHR-HEL-BER from start to finish! Thanks for watching!

    Glad you and Delta handled that Karen situation very well cos idk what’s up her trying to you FAA stuff that she herself doesn’t even know about. With that being said great trip report. Seriously makes me want fly on this 757 so baddd!!

    Wow that seat mate of yours had some guts. I'm sorry for you! Question. How much would be a fair price for domestic first on a 1.5hrs flight. Have an MCO to ATL flight coming up and first is like 350 USD. Would you say it's worth the money? I mostly travel premium economy intercontinental.

    • @theplanesguy
      @theplanesguy  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't pay for first on a flight that short out of pocket. All you'll get on that flight is a drink service with a snack basket. I'd just do economy tbh.

    I realize the brief 90 minute duration, but for Delta that poor catering in First is sub par. They could easily bump up a notch, cold pasta salad or sandwich. But? Like most US domestic flights in this era of 2023 the company cheaped out.
    Oh, and keep moving on your airline career. I'm retired now, and have flown a wide variety dating back to the early 1980s. B-727, A-300-B4 and the DC-10 (blasts from the past). Type rated DC-9, B-737, B-757/767 (common type).

    • @theplanesguy
      @theplanesguy  Год назад +1

      Yeah this is normal catering on Delta flights under 900 miles. I guess I am just used to that type of service on flights like this.

      I have to agree. I used to fly Delta frequently and enjoyed every single flight with them. I was a frequent passenger on the Madrid to Atlanta or JFK routes.
      However, after several years without flying them, I recently (February 2024) flew from Guatemala City to Atlanta in First Class on one of these B757. It's a 3,5 hour flight and maybe my expectations were high, but all we got were some crackers, a chocolate cookie and a small tray with cheese & apple slices. I felt it was incredibly poor, plus the fact that there was only 1 F/A for the entire 1st Class Cabin throughout the whole flight.

    Recently had a similar experience when I was on a Austrian flight from Vienna to Sofia, Bulgaria. Some dude let his kids board before him, and when he boarded, he started arguing with the flight attendants because he was supposed to accompany his kids (I didn’t really understand what the FAs were telling him to do other than he had to go back to the gate and that they would call security if he continued to be disruptive). I was ready for a full on brawl to begin, but eventually he was allowed to take his seat. I have yet to have a Karen experience on a flight back in the states tho

    Wow! That Karen must have thought it's against the FAA to visit the cockpit even when the plane is on the ground before and after the flight while at the gate although it's not. The Karen in this video should've been kicked off the plane. I'm sorry that you had to face this situation. Unbelievable!

    Always sucks when you have to be stuck right next to the problem for an hour and a half. The SIDA badge is always a great way to 1-up Karens who have nothing better to do than stir the pot :-)

    I think you should have told Karen that when you told your mom you wanted to be a pilot when you grew up, your mother replied that 'you can't do both.'. Enough said.

    These Karen stories scare me because idk how well I’d handle it if I had to deal with one. Especially on a plane. Like, lady I’m just recording a video because I like to do that, and nobody has ever given me problems.
