Keep the videos coming Michael. Different use cases would be excellent addition too. Watching everything I can to Hone my set up in capacities. Loving the App
IMO you might pull a few defactors from the Notion camp but to win any significant market share from the Obsidian market privacy is paramount. Highly recommend thinking about licensing a self hosted option or at least zero trust encryption before additional feature enhancements.
Agreed. I am currently paying for the Obsidian Sync. What I wouldn't wanna pay for is some AI assistant stuff and the likes, but a good, trustable sync option like obsidian has would be important.
This is very well designed and I wish them well. It reminds me throughout of the reason I abandoned Roam for Obsidian: Obsidian is local and the data format is openable and editable in any number of other apps now and in the future. I trust the Capacities team intent to keep everything secure but in a world where large corporations and governments get hacked, I prefer to own and store my data however I see fit.
The channel liked almost all the comments and left this top/most liked comment. Lol. I hope they realise that these are important points to think of. I held back because it isn't open-source & doesn't have local options.

I've been thinking too broad, as in to move my entire system over, but I just realized that this would be really great for organizing video game development. Well in my case multiple games in a series. I was trying to do object based in NOTION, but that obviously could not work. Obsidian when I moved there at least could link things together, but wasn't that great either. Couldn't see a great holistic view for just the game.
Why use a pluging when you have everything right out of the box with Capacities? I haved used both Notion, too time consuming to create the system, and Obsidian, too many pluggins and time consuming as well 🙅♀@@Exclusifs
@@Exclusifs it has so many options that you get overwhelmed. Once you decided to stick with a setup you then find out about another plugin that you "will definitely need" and then you get sucked into a pattern of an ever changing customization loop. I wish the app had a built-in workspaces feature. For instance, I would like one capacities instance for just work and other instance for personal stuff. For instance, in this video there is a Recipes object type. That type of object might be important in my personal life but it has nothing to do at all with my work. Also, I think this video is a much better overview then their other video about Getting Started.
We do have spaces! If you click on the space name (in the very top left of your screen- in this video it's "my notebook" ) and click "home", you will see a button to create a new space. That would allow you to keep recipes and work things separate.
This is absolutely incredible. Every "second brain“ note taking app I’ve been using so far always had a free thing missing. Capacities has everything I need 😍
this is great. I've tried capacities and want to use it, but in a way, I can do the same (yes with more work) in notion through backlinks and databases. i saw the pro plan was released today. and i will most likely switch when the mobile apps and task management has been released.
I am just looking for an advanced digital filing cabinet with bi-directional linking and a graph view, that is less complicated than Obsidian. Sounds like too much to ask for until I see an app like this.
defiantly an interesting app. will look forward to see how it progresses. but what would be your privacy policy? will you have local files and the cloud storage with end to end encryption?
Looking for something similar for our team campaigns. Sadly we are not allowed to use not self hosted and it must be fully collaborative. That object feature would be a real selling point for our workflow though :|
Capacities are all very good, except there is no preview function for the video file, which is very inconvenient; I wonder if this feature will be under the new feature list; thanks for your reply!
I can't tell if I can draw and do voice or audio notes like Google Keep or Microsoft OneNote but this would be amazing especially with color codes notes and tags. This would be amazing

Can I make a simple table inside a daily note?? or inside a page?
No, simple tables are not supported yet, but it's planned for later this year.
can you dictate on to the note taking page?

How do I add the “person” object to the book? For author on the standard book template, it’s just a text box, so it can’t link anywhere
You can use [[person/]] in the same text area
You can also checkout shortcut keys provided for the same in capacities
