  • Another daily service call. This call had the garage door cables come loose and the garage door went crooked with rollers falling out of the tracks. Very dangerous but Dapper Dudes got the job done again.

    What in the world caused the door to fall off in the first place 😮??
    Love the grins when the job is done and all has gone well. To plan, if you will. 😃👍

      Anything like a broom, 2x4x16 wood or anything along their height related, if they get any where near the vertical tracks while the garage door is in operating closing mode and it gets stuck, it pretty much causes the garage door to go side ways and would cause exactly how this specific garage door that @dapperdude is doing.
      I always advise clients to not put anything within 4-6ft from the garage door and garage door vertical tracks for the same reason. Unless they are will to pay: $350-$400 each time then so be it.
      I hope this answer helps.

    Okay new "subscriber" as luck would have it my garage door broke the spring! Retired Master GM tech. Retired two years now. Last time it broke I was working 12 hour days and really did not have the time to fool with it, but before I could get someone out to help me I got it back on the rollers. I just did not want to go to work and leave my garage door open! The guy that showed up convinced me that I needed new rollers and adjusted it. $450.00 for less than one hour work. I will not do that again. While I am waiting for my springs that are somewhere in shipping, cleaned up door. Repaired that top center where the bar got bent. I actually went to a overhead door place and got a new 16 foot brace. Since the other guy already got me for Teflon rollers, I replaced the loose hinges. I was surprised to find many loose bolts and set screws. Your video gave me a heads up on setting everything up once the springs get here. As an automotive suspension mechanic, I understand to give springs, torsion bars, and torsions springs the "respect" they deserve. Thanks.

      Hey, sorry about the delayed response, but honestly ive flown across the country to different cities and worked and learned each demographic area kinda has an overall standard style of housing. Some mix but usually same. Here in Texas i typically install 207’s, 218’s, or 250’s on almost everything.

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  Год назад +2

      In Arizona i believe its going to be roughly the same but of course you always need to have a few of those not so needed parts incase situations arise

    I always carry extra pieces of rope and tie the door hinges to the track to keep it from falling as I insert the new rollers and then remove the ropes once everything is back together.

      absolutely. I have had the same kind for several years with never any issues. I've loaded the heaviest of steel doors along with other things at the same time such as all the torsion tubes etc and garage door openers. They work just fine. Love em.

    Hi there ! First thank you for the videos . I’m in Cali I have issues with my garage door and by watching your videos I think I can fix it , but we will see. I have one Question! On this Video the door has one spring but my door has two springs on the bar . My door is wider than the one on this video. To tension up the springs am I going to do both springs or just one spring?

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  Год назад +1

      No u can absolutely do just one spring at a time. If necessary though, don’t crank all the needed tension on only one spring. Meaning, if u crank one side 3 times and the door doesn’t balance still, and more tension is still needed, then swap sides and put more turns on the other side.
      By the way, it is better to have two springs instead of one.

    What caused the door to fall off to begin with? And will it be happening again soon?

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  Год назад +1

      I believe the customer had a broom stick stored in the corner of the garage door and it fell over into the track line and then the garage door shut, hit the broom, and caused the cable one one side to come off.
      And no, it won’t happen again because a Dapper Dude came through and those cables are tight now. However, it can happen again if they store things in the corner again which I did advise against.

    full length operator bracket on that jacked up center style! just my opinion. gettin those off track doors back down is always shady. 😮

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  Год назад +1

      Definitely could have upsold that. But wasn’t necessary. Those center styles hold up just fine if they aren’t too ripped up. If that spring balances the door properly of course, and if it does then not much pressure if hardly any at all on that center style anyway. It’s more of a judgement call based on what u know and have experienced. If you know then you know when it’s hands down time to replace something.

    • @dapperdudesgarage
      @dapperdudesgarage  Год назад +1

      If rollers are out and cables are off, $379.99 no less. Never an issue with the customer either. They usually actually think it should cost more bc how bad it looks to them.
