- Looking at every LEGO Castle ever released, from 1978 to 2016. I did not include Knight's Kingdom II, since it's more of it's own thing, and made a separate video on that one.
I miss the lego smile face. When you played with them they died with the happiest look.
They both think they can win!
They got honorable deaths in battle, the look on their faces is a look of pure content.
I remember my brother would get agitated with me and say, "The Lego good guys are stupid! They're always smiling!" I countered that the ninja good guys never smiled, and he said, "That's because they always have daggers shoved up their butts!"

Beneath Bionicle, Castle was one of the best productions sets Lego's ever made.

Man, that takes me back. Growing up, my room was a pocket dimension, and portals periodically opened pulling castles from different lands. They inevitably clashed, in a land full of knights and ninjas, mages and monsters. It was great.
Bruh that Lego battles theme tune is legendary
The reason for the themes and the reason they won’t be adding anymore because these were the main teams of LEGO battles. It consisted of the the blue lions, red dragons, Pirates, Space, and soldiers. Dwarfs and ninjas were added as additional characters to soldiers and lions
Damn. I remember playing that game years ago and having the greatest time on my DS.

Right? I mean it's a HUGE untapped source of possible sets. Just think of the old 7 wonders of the world for example. They could even go into mythology if they wanted. And legionary/hoplite armor would easily make the best looking figurines they have ever made. If I was a kid and saw a hoplite in a set I'd instantly want that. I so hope that they tap into antiquity soon.
They actually made few figures like that in those dam stupid mistery single packs but you're right they shuld I have a small unit of Roman soldiers and a few Greek gladiators still it's no enough I agree man
Come on Lego, bring back the classic sets like Castle , Pirates , Jungle adventure , cowboys already!
Man castle and pirates, if either of these comes back in force i don't care how old i am I'm picking up the sets. I miss when lego made a bunch of original themes and not just focuses on different parts of the city theme
We need like a lego creator building series but for castle sets where its giant castles that connect.

The thing with the golden age of Lego Castle is that the newer sets fit together thematically with the older ones. I could easily merge the Wolfpack with the Forestmen or the Fright Knights and nothing would be out of place. I could do the same with the Black Knights and the Dragon Masters (as they do), and arguably also with the Crusaders and the Royal Knights.
When they do attempt to bring back the medieval lego they try to do so by being all new and fancy with absolutely everything. New factions, new colours, new architecture, new characters. The first time it worked decently, Leo's knights fitting fairly well with the Royal Knights and the Bull' Bandits fairly well with the Fright Knights or the Dark Forest theme. Then things started getting weird...
I might just being old and nostalgic, admittedly.

4:14 I had no idea that giant turret piece debuted so early, in blue no less. I always thought it was a juniorized invention for Knight's Kingdom 2000.
Castle theme was best, so much variety and unique figs made it very enjoyable back then

At that time castle set is one of my favorite, a ghost and wizard wand can glow in the dark is the most highlight thing
I lost my glow in the dark wand. I was upset for months about it.
I didd not ever realize how many parts I have from the 80s and 90s sets (e.g. certain minifig torsos and stuff). The blue Castle sets just give me nostalgia, I had every one of those, although, I wish I had the battle packs, but they were not available where I lived. It would have been my dream to assemble an army by getting my hands on a few of the battle packs.
A weird thing with later Lego Castle sets is that it seems easier to get hold of multiples of named characters than generic ones. And that is not how that is supposed to work.
One of my favorite themes in lego, I really hope they make a return at some point!

11:41 this was the lego castle set I always saw at the store when I was younger and I asked for it every Christmas and when I finally got it one Christmas they switched to the new style of lego medieval stuff and I was so disappointed, but also glad because I still got a castle. Memories 😂

Lol I actually had the first one it shows at 6:33 (#2848). I remember I got it at I believe a dollar store and my grandma bought me it along with a few other small sets just like that one. I believe one was also a small western set

Of course could not buy all but now i have quite a collection that I just recently rebuild adding missing pieces etc.. (took 3 months work :). Born in the late 80s I am definitely a 90s kiddo. I've owned sets across different themes, mainly small ones tho... But oh man what an era...90s were golden years for me...So much creativity on the part of those designers! Even now as an adult I appreciate all those neat design decisions.. For some reason contemporary production is far from appealing for me...and the nostalgy aside, I somehow am not able to grasp all the overblown complexity of colors and elements. I duuno how many pieces existed then vs now, but the ratio of creativity vs. complexity seemed golden then :))

Probbably beacouse lot of lego sets comes from some kind of movies, TV shows etc. And those make most money beacouse People recognize it and want it more. Why would a random Kid want lego casttle set if the Kid can get set from star wars He knows and love :/

I got the castle 6:01 back in 95. It was my first big lego set. Years have gone by and I thought the base plate was lost since long but my mom found it on the attic a few weeks ago. I rebuildt It and man the memories. Now it has its own spot on a shelf in the livingroom.
The 2007 Castle Catapult set was my first lego set ever. I got it for Christmas one year from a cousin, and I fell in love with lego. For the next 8 years the majority of my money went towards legos

But also I think I got some 97' sets later in the early 2000s, fun for Halloween lol

Lionhearts
Black Falcons
Cross Axes
Dragon Knights
and then we also had the Forestmen,
Then the Wolf Bandits
And then the Fright Knights
I don't know what was after all the Ninjago sets.

I can recall i got the Black Knight's Castle(or w/e the name is for set 6086) one year, have tried to rebuild it but i can never find the pieces i need and it was one of my favorites. There is a Lego Ideas one close to that set and i truly wish it will happen. Also, love the music as i played Lego Battles quite a bit.

Just have it be decently grounded, regular buildings, generic characters, things you can build with, mix and match and do a lot of things with. No outrageous swords, armours or brightly coloured pieces that stick out from the rest.
I wish the recent lego castle lived as long as the vintage ones

I grew up with the castles in the 80s. What a time for LEGO! Castles, Space... all soo cool. no licenses... you were free to give your figures names and when you said: those are the good and those are the bad... that's it... today? Oh, look. Another police set... those figures are the bad. those are the good...
If you compare the amount of sets with Knight theme and those with police... I bet you have three times more sets with police than knights.. so sad.

funfact: my little nephew loves my old Lego bricks. He loves to play with the falcon knights and also he loves the space series...
When I bought him the Lego space shuttle a few month ago... he took it, played two times with it and what happened? He went back to play with the castles. cause for a little boy KNIGHTS are sooo cool! He's voice acting with those figures and plays little stories. So fun to watch... But I guess at LEGO they won't have young children play with knights cause playing a cop and catch a bank robber is soooo much cooler... nah LEGO.. you failed it

I had as a kid both set 6009 and set 6105. I don't know if set 6105 was the earliest lego battle pack, but was surely my first lego battle pack. Great small castle sets to have together as kid. Much play ability to have with out having one of the large play sets. Good times.
i found 2 sets of the Castle series at a convetion, I really wanna start collecting these, such a cool line
So upon watching this I had to look it up, set 10000 in 2001 is a re-issue of 6067 from 1986. I still have my original 6067 set "the guarded inn". I remember it well, it'll be in pieces now but good memories none the less.
Some off these sets was my first lego sets and its so fun to se sets that i slightly remember.

I had that original '78 castle set and the first space sets. Best years of my childhood...
Fun fact I happen to own set number 6097 from 1997 used to have it build and standing on a shelf, but it keept falling down and going into piece's so had to put it away, and as I just moved into a new appartment I happend to find all the piece's as well as the constroction manual for the set :)
Damn, things really took a dark turn between 2007 and 2009.
Im 43 and just rebuild al my old lego from the 80's with my 5yr son. Ive got the first castle in this video. I think about 80% of all our yellow bricks are from that set hehe. He likes that castle and its figures with weapons so much he hasn't played with anything else.
I had most of these set up till 1993. The set I always wanted was 6080, never got it. I also started collecting the "Viking" sets.

7:30 this wasn’t a castle set. This was an exclusive release for an old Lego game. This actually is a part of Lego island for the chess king 👑.
I don't understand why they created bad and good guys in the lasts sets ? In the firsts one it was no good or bad guys and that wasn't a problem
