What a wonderful player! Getting caught up in analysis of his performance prevents you from simply enjoying this piece. I have always been a fan of his style, Super Clean, Super Rubato! Every different player has their own take on this, and I wouldnt have it any other way.
@@devinfavara5226 that's not a lot in reality, if you practiced just 30 minutes a day for two years you would have practiced more than 10k hours. I've been playing for 5 years, and I'm not as good as him.
But do you really think that AV is better tonally and technically? I think that Vizzuti does some things that no one in the world can do, but Sergei does 90% of that stuff with having a much more musical style than Alan. Just my thoughts.... I’ve just never heard anyone better in my life than Sergei. He’s flawless.
@@CurtisL8.3066 this whole thing is subjective, i just mentioned him because so many people love his style of playing, and the insane technicallyhe has shown. Do i have a favorite trumpet player, no, i just enjoy the music. Plus picking favorites in this kind of situation can lead to very toxic arguments that all participants look like jackasses.
I wish clarinet solos were like this... Ours are just ridiculous. They make little sense. This is one is melodic. It has an idea. And that idea is expanded. I love it.
Don't most players? I don't know that I've ever heard anyone perform their own cadenza in performance or recording. If you know of any such recordings or videos, please let me know. By the way, and you may already know this, this concerto was heavily criticized on it's release. It wasn't until Dokshitzer's performances and recordings with his cadenza that it really gained serious attention and became a trumpet standard.

Brilliant recording! Different, but by no means less valid than any of the others... i mean, the piece is "russian," so there's no doubt that Sergei would have something very fascinating to say with his interpretation.
Мелодии армянские, но время сочинения оставило свой отпечаток. Тогда , при СССР, требовалось писать жизнеутверждающую музыку,мелодичность , пасторальные интонации-армянские!
By far, the best and most expressive recording I have heard.
Samuel Kim idk about the "by far", but it is definitely great.
No where even close to being on the same level as Phil Smith or Dockschitzer. Still pretty good though
@@aaronwhite02 I prefer this one to both of those recordings...
Idk I think I’d personally have a bit of trouble arguing that this is more expressive than dockschitzer
@@Trumpophone7 I agree, I like dock's version better. That is the right way to go in my head
This is my favourite version of this piece. I remember listening to it in my dad's car, it's my first musical emotion.
He is such a great player one if the most unique artists ever !

Who the hell would dislike this
+Hugh Ciereszko people who realize he recorded this when he was 12.

wait this version is really when he was 12?
***** not actually, but that was a jab at how his first recorded album was when he was 15. i think this was recorded in 2000. so he'd have been 23?
People that don't have the same taste in music as us
The Turks would dislike. That's who.
I don't always like Sergei's interpretations but this is really sublime from start to finish.
The best version out there
I think Arturo sandoval s version is better 🤓🎺
Love this guy's playing. Don't know how this guy manages to do this with his embouchure. Using as a model for my playing.
Imagine practicing the trumpet for over 10,000 hours. Sergei prolly did that before he turned 18 lol

If you don’t believe that this guy is the best trumpet player alive today, I’m not sure who you are listening to
Just because i know someone will say it, Allen Vizzutti. I don't personally care who's "better" but I'll give the likley answer someone would give.

Yes it is....composed by Alexander Arutunian, a russian. And it fits very well in the russian style.

Chris Arkin, and how come it's Russian piece? Alexander Harutyunyan is the composer of this concerto.
This piece was written for Timofei Dokschitzer, who was Russian, so that's why. He is sort of the Grandfather of this piece.
Gabriel Brown wrong, harutyunyan wrote it for someone else but this trumpeter died before the piece was finished so dokshitzer played it🤷♀️
This was composed for Haikaz Messian , Armenian , but later performed by Dokshiirser and the composer is Armenian
Magnificent recording - Russian music is so Wonderfully Emotional..and Who better to play this.
Timofei Dokshizer. Trust me, man.

No. But you, yes.
This is sadly not an Arutunian's vision, just a cold 'studio circus' without truly emotions and substance...
Which recording captures Arutunian's vision with true emotions and substance then?
