      Rohit Singh See, the "Wall" is the immune system and the "Night's Watch" your white blood cells. Most of the time you want the Watch to keep out the bad stuff "The Others" Sometimes though, the 'bad stuff" isn't really 'bad' just misunderstood like "the Wildlings" your replacement lungs. So, it's probably best they just co-exist. Every now and then your body "realm" is attacked and in order to save itself, it picks a dangerous ally by giving you a fever "calling in the Dragons". Though that can lead to positive results, it sometimes requires a way of harnessing the savage attack, "Daenerys". Yadda, yadda, yadda Ramsay Snow is somehow both your dick and your asshole...

    I have cystic fibrosis and am almost at my 17th year bi-lateral lung transplant anniversary. I have had chronic rejection for 14 years but am still alive. I am considered unique for the fact that my chronic rejection stabilized 14 years ago and I now breathe at 30%, which is 14% percent better than before my transplant. Since it is so rare for organs to last this long the best the Doctors can come up with is that your body can in some instances become used to the new transplanted organ and stop trying to kill it so much. That does not mean your body won't attack the new organ, just that it is less likely. Bodies whose organs have lasted this long semi-accept the new organ as part of the body, but if I were to stop taking my anti-rejection medicine I would die, so nobody get any ideas about not taking your rejection medicine. I did have a dear friend who had a transplant as well but she only survived 4 years. It was 4 years of being able to breathe though and I know she would not have given it up. Thank you for this video.

      ***** You can thank forced education for that. If you have a class where people voluntarily sign up because they want to learn something. Its a great experience for all. If you get a class full of people just trying to get their required credits or even worse a public school full of kids from the ghetto with absolutely zero intention of learning anything its going to suck for everyone.

    • @dahalofreeek
      @dahalofreeek 9 лет назад +2

      Jason Cates 5 year olds tend to lack the drive to enroll themselves in schools. Also education is powerful. Better education almost always improves both the economy and HDI (education is endogenous to HDI but it seems to also influence all the other aspects positively).

    I have 20 great ASOIAF theories, literally, if you are looking for a partner for one video. I founded and run the Q@ora space A Theory of Ice and Fire (same as here) and I have created some theories like Arthur Dayne is Lancelot and Rhaegar and Dany’s father; Aria will go to King’s Landing and steal Arriane Martel’s face; Theon is a greenseer and it’s why he hears Bran talk to him through the tree, and it’s Theon who will go into a tree eventually to stay instead of Bran; Jaqen is the real Aegon VI who got switched for Young Griff at Illyrio’s Manse at age 9 (Arya’s when the story starts); the series will end with the wedding of Jon to Sansa or Jaqen to Arya mirroring Aragorn’s wedding to Arwen and Henry Tudor to Elizabeth York.

    This was really interesting. My husband has early-stage lung cancer, and I was wondering why nobody had even suggested a lung transplant (apart from the obvious shortage of donors) as a future possibility, but had not asked thus far. I had not realised how low the odds were of long-term survival after a lung transplant. Now I understand why this isn't really a viable option for my husband, who may well live another 10 years just on regular chemotherapy.
    You're a good narrator, and obviously very knowledgeable (both in science and in GoT!).

      Yes, the major risk period is the first 6 months to a year. Most everyone deals with organ rejection at least once during that time. I had rejection once 3 months post which was treated with a three day course of Solumedrol. I have been lucky and not had rejection since. Everyone is different.

    "So, these are the lungs. They are vital organs in tetrapods." Incorrect. Lots of amphibians have vestigial lungs.

      @victoneter 7 лет назад

      Yes actually. However if you take aids medication you'll experience organ rejection again
