you did your physics exam 3 weeks ago? I'm in year 11 and the year 12's at my school are doing their exams with us at the same time (like right now ugh) but congrats on the A I find Physics really hard
hey thanks. I have never found physics hard and everyone thinks im weird when it comes to physics. But I just basically think in a logical way. When you are given a question in physics. Try to imagine it or even draw the situation on paper to help you discover a "what will happen" or "how it will happen". Then just apply formulas. hope i helped
RedTeamReview Wow....cool to see you here, as I go down the rabbit hole (I have no idea why all of a sudden I got interested in this topic). Looking forward to your Game of Thrones breakdowns. Peace.
How strange it is that I was subscribed to Alt Shift X for years for the GoT content and a random google search to assist in an Astronomy course brought me here. The good new is Alt Shift was still pumping out quality and super-informative videos. Thank you kind sir.

The animation has one flaw - the circles showing the wave propagation do not move with a car. A sound travels from the spot it was created, independently on how its source is moving.
The Doppler effect in radar works like this, the colour spectrum of visible light when an object is approaching towards you it will be red for example but green in the middle and blue when away. If everything in the radar is standing still it becomes noise. If an enemy aircraft is not moving in a direction where the Doppler effect is happening and moves into the right place, it can become one with the noise on the enemies radar and effectively disappear from their long range sight. I learned this in DCS World.
Your going to dress up as a fire truck running down the road screaming... so people in front of you hear it different when behind you. I thought I was crazy
This helped me a LOT. Thank you! We studied this in science class sometime this year, and I was reviewing for finals, and I found this. My teacher didn't do a very good job of explaining, but this short video helped greatly :D
Super helpful! I've been staring at my textbook with a car and observer for about 10 min and had no idea what the waves meant, but your 3min explanation makes it easy to understand. Thanks!
This is the best explanation and much better than my high school teacher's did. Big thank to the creator because of this video I can understand how to derive the Doppler equation, how the motion can really affect the wavelength. I try to make my own explanation video, and I hope it's easy to understand
Great visual explanation, thanks! I knew what the effect sounded like but didn't exactly understand how the phenomenon worked. This was very helpful! Excellent presentation :)
Please make more physics/science videos! I know your GoT vids must be more popular but your ability to produce succinct yet clear and intuitive explanations for scientific concepts is far more valuable in my opinion.
I'm a Physics teacher and I can say that this video was the best explanation of the doppler effect that I've ever seen. Congratulations on the excellent work. Warm greetings from Brasil!
Oh my god. This is u? I just recently found u thru all tomorrows, but this video was used by my physics teacher a few years ago to explain Doppler. It really is a small world
thanks I have a physics test coming up - this video is the absolute best , straight to the point and a simple explanation so that everyone can understand
You have a gift to explain things. Excellent video. Can you please post video's explaining important concepts covered in AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 courses. A lot of students self study these subjects and will benefit tremendously.
YES. Thanks VERY much for this. A very good video. You've renewed my knowledge of this from my school science classes from a very long time ago. Now in my 60s.
Thanks for bringing up the car horn example. Its easier to understand when you know what to look for and actually pay attention to the sound. The sound doesnt sound the same the entire time, or you could actually hear the sound changing from high to low pitch when its in motion. The low pitch part, it actually sounds like its being drawn out or stretched due to the lower frequency.
I was in the library and had biophysics exam, and doppler effect was one of the subtopics which i had some difficulty to understand. For a short break, i just opened one of your game of thrones videos, and it was well narrated, so I checked your channel for more game of thrones stuff but found this which was quite well explained as well :)
Hi, my name is Bianca, and I'm a physics teacher from Brazil. I use your video every time when I talk about doppler effect. Thank you, very much. May I dub your video in portuguese?
I found this video when I searched for some explanation of wavelength and visible lights. I’m so happy that this video combines what I heard before, red shift and Big Bang, with what I’m learning now in college. Perfect!
1:16 I can't believe that he actually notated the notes pretty on point... unlike some other people... but that's unimportant. Hats of to you Alt Shift X.
This video is the best I've found....correct length, illustrates sound and light, graphics and narration are easy to understand. I use it in geology class.
I had been watching your GOT videos the past week and recently was looking for doppler effect information and stumbled on this great video. My jaw was to the floor when I realized it was the same channel. The GOT/Doppler effect overlap is wild lol
This is such a well-done, intuitive explanation. I mean, I was able to understand and internalise this concept in mere minutes, which is awesome for someone who has only studied Physics at a basic level. Thank you so much!
I'm a visual learner, not really able to learn anything when it's just spoken to me, so this video helped a bunch. Much better than my 50-minute class on this
