FAST Install! How to install SharkBite coupling and fittings. Very easy. Shark Bite does not require any special tools and NO soldering! Works with copper, Pex, CPVC, HDPE, and PE-RT pipe. Best of all, Sharkbite is all made in the USA!

Good job my man. I would be terrified to work on something like that. Ha! Seemed easy enough though. Those shark bites are a life saver.
It saved so much time! Totally worth the extra little bit of cost to save some swearing and throwing stuff 😂
Bought to do mine thanks
Thanks for making this video! The whole time I was screaming (inside) take it outside and install the copper pipe! You must have heard me hahaha
Lol my first time doing this I guess I got something right 😆 wasn’t too difficult once you get it figured out. Thanks for watching!
great vid, thanks.
Glad you found this video useful, thanks for watching!
Just mark the damn depth on the pipe so you know it's fully in. Thank God you pivoted to pushing the copper in from outside
Great video...ty
Thanks for watching!
Nice. Thanks for showing how easy this fix is.
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
Nice install DIYD you make it look so easy, thanks
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
🌞Great explanation!! 👍
Thanks for watching man, glad you find it useful!
Add plumbers putty around the pipe - fill the gap in wall. Love shark bites
I ended up using like an expanding insulating foam to fill that gap and it worked out pretty well but plumbers putty would also be an excellent idea. Thanks for watching!
You didn’t show attaching the shark bite to the pipe. That’s what I looked for.
It's more or less just shove it in with force til it hits the back of the pipe you'll feel it once it bottoms out, go to about 10 minutes in I kind of explain it, it's pretty much a friction fit.
I thought the plastic shim was just for ensuring the correct slope when installed over exterior siding. Isn't the correct slope already built into the fixture if installing on brick?
I can't remember now, you could be right about that.
First Striperman :)
Hello! Things have really slowed down this time of year hasn’t it? I haven’t mowed in two weeks now! 😭.
@@DIYDad1 I know it sucks lol. I need to do this to one of my outdoor faucets the problem is I have no access to where it comes into the house anymore. Its blocked off :(
@@DIYDad1 well done. That shark has some bite. It worked :)
@@Striperman yeah it was a lot easier than I thought. I replaced that valve on the inside with traditional soldering and it was a lot more work compared to this lol. Shark bite is a bit more expensive but totally worth it.
I replaced a spigot with a shark bite sillcock. I wish i hadn't because the shark bite is extremely hard to turn. Will return it.
Oh wow that's good feedback to hear. Wonder if they are made a little bit different. I never had that problem with mine.
At 11:54. I s the answer to my question. Im having trouble freeing up the valve washer / stem nut, but noticed that the frost free spigot was threaded and not soldered to copper because I could easiy rotate the whole spigot. So thought I would just remove the whole assembly and try to free the nut. But the spigot kept turning no matter which way I turned. Never tightens. The basement. Celing is finished and could not see what’s up. Now I think I know.
I know the valve stem is reverse threaded I think. But anyway, on to the repair.
Thanks
Glad this was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Update to the video?
No video update but I’ve had this fix in place for over a year now and haven’t had any issues or leaks. Seems like a pretty solid fix! Thanks for watching!
Ty for the instruction, but these shark bite silcocks are total garbage. One failed in less than a year. The other in 2 years. Leaking everywhere
Garbage
Yikes! I'm sorry that happened! I've had this one installed for a little over a year now and it's still OK yet. I hope it stays that way. That makes me worry though. There's no reason for these to give out that quickly. It's a very simple valve these things should last decades.
These sharkbite sill cocks leak after a short amount of use. The O rings get squashed.
I’ve heard that from several people before actually. I think it depends a little bit on if you’ve removed the fitting several times or not. Apparently if you try to release the fitting once it’s together or move it around it can cause premature failure. Once the fitting is installed if it doesn’t move again it’s usually ok for the long haul. Asked my plumber friend if they use these fittings he doesn’t use them in new commercial rough-in but the times he’s seen it in use they haven’t failed unless it was an installation problem. But you’re right I’ve heard these concerns before with this type of fitting so it’s something to be aware of. For peace of mind I probably wouldn’t install in a hidden location behind drywall or anything. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYDad1 oh no I’m sorry I should’ve been more clear. Shark bite fittings them selves are great! I have several in place with no problems. I’m talking about the actual mechanism inside of the silcock . I’m actually at the store right now looking for the replacement washer. I disassembled the silcock earlier and the rubber washer was crushed I am hoping that was the problem. Sharkbites themselves like I said I use all the time, just make sure you seat the tubing all the way in to the fitting and you’re golden.
@@theloneviking9145 ah I got it! I haven’t actually had that problem yet with them leaking but it hasn’t been installed for too long yet just since this spring. But I have noticed that when I open and close the valve it makes a squeaking noise. I kinda wish these were only a half turn to on I feel like I spin it forever between open and closed. Hopefully it’s a quick fix for you! Let me know how it goes!
Update:
Seems to work now that I replaced the back rubber washer. I replaced it with a Danco “00”2 inch OD flat washer item number 88569. It seems to be working now.
@@theloneviking9145 awesome! Glad to hear it was a quick and easy fix. At least you didn’t have to replace the entire thing 😁
OMG just stop all the unnecessary rambling and get on with it, haha !
When I’m working I talk a lot 😆😝 lol thanks for watching.
