We're in a world where people buy cellphones for $1000 every year or 2...but $500 after 3 years is so hard to come by 😂 jeez
I think because the phone price is not all up front . U make a payment every month
@@lizardman1303 yeah, most people who buy phones this expensive just take a loan
You can do the same with a credit card. I wouldn't necessarily pay it off monthly for months, I'd just pay 250 each month. Tell me who doesn't have $250 lol
Also I think it'd be smart to make a payment plan for the PSVR2 and the Apple insane headset. Idk why they haven't implemented something around that. Easy way to get people on the fence I'd assume
in my circle the ones buying consoles and the ones renewing flagships that often are not the same people. derp.
In the UK, the PS5 was £450 at launch. Last year the price increased to £480. Now it is £400.
That's because of the dollar's inflation
@@irvingchies1626the dollar
you mean the pound
@@lusaminehq No, @irvingchies1626 actually means the US Dollar. The cost of the console stayed the same in the US while it was raised in other nations, and they are implying that inflation decreasing the value of the dollar somehow increased the cost in other nations. It's a nonsensical point, however, when you consider that the disc version of the PS5 stopped selling at a loss in August of 2021 and that Sony has been known to raise the price of their consoles before, but when they do so in the USA they actually take a loss in their consumer base. 600+ million is not a demographic Sony wants to drive away again, so the price of the PS5 was raised everywhere but the US in order to garner even more profit. Sony has gotten away with raising the cost of games to $70 and they still had a massive customer base worldwide, so they aren't afraid to gouge our wallets, but they know that raising the cost of the console in the US will see less games sold overall, and thus less profit. The sale price of the games has always been where console companies make the majority of their profits, after all.
@@irvingchies1626What does the Dollar (don't even know which Dollar you are even referring to, since you never specified) have to do with the UK?
A thank you for the CMA’s decision in their favour maybe!
It’s selling like hot cakes 🍰. And Sony’s price cut will make it even more popular.
Debating between the new PS5 Spider-Man console vs wait for a revision
I debating between getting an Xbox series X or just holding out till next gen and getting a One X for now (I only play older titles like halo MCC or Gears of war 4/5
Same but I would honestly just wait. If they do come out with a slim version it will probably come out on september so it's really just a month away..
@@juliancamacho7232 probably best. You can always grab the controller. Matching plates vs wait for the slim is the choice i suppose
@@TechDovewhy not get an s
@@Allpurple_reign I was thinking about the gears of war 4 one S
So let me get this right.
The ps5 increased in price everywhere BUT the US. Now it’s going back to its original price in a lot of places where it was increased and everyone is hoping that means the US will get a discount? That sounds ore like wishful thinking than actual evidence to me.
the incentive is they can fit 200 ps5 slims on a pallet for shipping instead of 150 ..plus less materials in the construction
The whole reason they make slim versions is to cut manufacturing costs -- as the hardware ages, they further refine the design to reduce space, use less material, address problems in the original design to reduce failure rate, and if there were features not being used by the market / consumers in the OG version, cut those features to (again) cut costs. Smaller consoles = less manufacturing cost = smaller boxes = cheaper logistics = Sony/MS save a LOT of money and the consumer saves a little money if they were previously on the fence about buying one. I can see Sony wanting to revise the design to be more efficient at the mid-life point of the console. (I mean, look at HOW BIG the PS5 is even compared to the Series X.) But I think MS may have already optimized the Series S and X designs about as much as they could from the very start to the point that a revision is probably unnecessary.
Mind blown.
Facts.
I mean no need to do a revision if hardly any exclusive games are pushing the hardware
I'm playing Starfield games dope I Love Xbox. But I think Sony makes enough exclusive games that they can make a much more powerful pro model so we can play Wolverine at 120 Fpuss that's right Fpuss 😂 say it out loud
It's crazy that we're at the midlife point of PS5 and I haven't even bought one yet. I guess I'll wait for the slim at this point
@@solodolotrevino Yeah same, I don't have one either. Gran Turismo 7 was one of the exclusives I would've wanted for a PS5, but I also still have a PS4 Pro and the game runs like 90% the same outside of longer load times (which arent even that bad since I put an SSD in my PS4.) Not quite worth spending $500 on a new console. But if I did get one I'd wait for the new slim that just got announced myself, I do like that the disc drive is an optional attachment instead of a whole "Do or die" choice you have to make with the original lol. I do have an X, almost exclusively for game pass games that crossplay between PC and XSX. But this new PS5 approach almost makes me wish Microsoft went a similar route with the Xbox Series -- the "X" is just an S with a whole extra compute boost attachment making it 2x the size of an S (and has the disc drive in it.)
I gotta agree with Mat, if the regular went down in price, and is being called the "standard edition" then that says to me that there will be a more expensive "Pro-Edition" coming out. You wouldn't lower the price of the regular if you were trying to sell a Slim model, because people would say "Well, the slim is $400, but I can get the regular for $450." It would hurt Slim sales. The only reason to lower the price is because a pricier model is on the way.
Depends if the slim is better. Sometimes the phat is more worth it.
It's been called the standard edition since being next to the digital what are you talking about dude.
I dont think theres any lowering the price going on. Slim will take the Digital edition and come with optional disc drive upcharge. And it will be at $399 not including disc drive but $449 w/ disc drive.
PS5 Pro would be at $499 the current price of PS5 standard edition
That is true but the 50 dollar price drop is temporary, and would be back to normal by the time they announce a slim model
Yeah I'm curious to see what the pro will be capable of especially compared to my rtx3080 PC if it can come close I may take up to it from my digital PS5
The series s is already basically a series x slim. I believe that the 1 terabyte series s will be the only console released by Microsoft for the rest of the generation, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were to release an external disc drive for the s, as people (or at least me) purchased the series s since it was the cheapest console of the generation and kind of miss the magic of putting in a physical disc, and would bring in more profit.
The series S has about the same power as a One X besides the SSD, and because of this and Microsoft being so firm on having Series X titles on it, they and Playstation have bottle knecked the Devs hard by a whole generation basically
Series S 😂. So devs have to dumb down their games for Microsoft?
@copingflower1909 Well in GPU it's basically the same as the one x. But the CPU is literally worlds different and is the same as series x. This means the series s is only really less powerful in terms of gpu so most new games can just have the resolution turned way down and have a 30fps cap like they've done with some games and it makes it not really much of something to hold this generation back much. Especially considering it's actually not much weaker than the PS5. The PS5 is actually exactly in the middle of the series s and series x in terms of gpu power. If games can run on ps5, they can run on series s with slightly cut back graphics.
It's really no different than PC where devs typically want to optimize a game for graphics cards that are even weaker than the series s so more people will buy their game.
I feel that because how small the current ps5 innards are getting that they will use that and make a slim and the current ps5 chassis will be used for the PRO.
The ‘slim’ model that everyone is talking about is heavily rumoured to have the same form factor, but with a detachable disc drive. So they could still sell both the digital and standard consoles separately, but only have to produce one console. It’s supposedly coming out in September, possibly even to be included in the Spider-Man special edition (although I doubt it).
This all comes from the same person who leaked the Project Q.
What if the slim model is just thinner and still uses the same side panel plates? It would definitely be considered a slim and the pro version be wider and still use the same side panel plates.
I think a wild card about a "slim" model is the faceplate covers. They are selling really well and allow customers to customize their PS5's in a way not really seen before, except for hit and miss stickers or skins in the past.
The introduction of the Spider-Man edition and the fact the plates sold out in minutes, long before the actual system or dual sense did kinda shows people love this idea. If they create a slim version, they will negate that line of income unless it somehow still can use the plates which I'm not sure how that could work. I think it more likely that there will be a pro version that still allows use of the plates, especially if they continue to come out with special edition plates.
On a side note; Sony, please come out with more special edition plates, like God of War and restock the Spider-Man ones. 😂
simple, make the plates compatible
doesnt need to look right
The slim will have..slim plates
Exacy. Why would Sony release special edition of regular console just when slim model is about to be released ? It's gonna hurt the sales.
They pretty much copied the 360 with the faceplates.
The incentive could be volume, as in dimensional volume. If a slim version is considerably smaller, it can be shipped in higher numbers using the same amount of volume, thus reducing a considerable amount of cost to them.
This is what Nintendo did with the OLED model. The box is considerably smaller than the past Switches, which may reduce costs for themselves.
Also what people arent talking about is the storage in ps5. The nvme2 ssd price have dipped so much they can easily do 1tb or 2tb ssd in the same price.
In 2023 600 gigs of storage looks stupid even series s is going for 1tb this fall.
Yes, box size is something people always forget about when it comes to cost
That's not a "could" that's just what it is.
Do people have short memory? Sony has made a smaller version for every single PlayStation in existence. Psone 6 years after the original, PS2 slim 4 years after the original, PS3 slim 3 years after the original and PS4 slim again 3 years after. They were smaller and cheaper to make and their purpose has always been to reduce manufacturing costs and bump up profits.
Also the ps5 is a big chunk of a console. Shrinking is IS useful, compared to ps4…
Will the ps5 update games without having to reinstall, on my xbox series x and series s I've reinstalled both my games multiple times so I'm hoping the ps5 won't have to reinstall games constantly
It would not be an impossibility for Sony to have both a Slim model and a PS5 Pro simultaneously in the works, while they decide in which order to release them to maximize profit and sales. I agree with others that the Pro is most likely going to be released first (hence the recent price reduction in some parts of the world). History is often a good indicator of what is to come in the console world.
I'm gonna have to say I agree with Matt on the take for the Amazon listing. I figured with the special editions, seeing that change just means Amazon has a way to list the multiple console types under one search term (ps5 obviously). I've noticed that over the years with like bluray and media as now movies they offer have the prime option but a tab to select dvd or bluray listing. It probably helps keeping the reviews for products going all over the place. And for my take, I haven't had a ps5 so far but just pre ordered the new spiderman one since I had the spidey ps4....so I don't see that need to run out and buy another. I think maybe if they're pulling the profit now, why try to dump a newer version on anyone. It's kinda gotten old having like 3 versions of a console in one cycle. I feel like they'd gain more value in creating a solid device, letting it run its cycle, then just selling us that next gen when it's ready. For a consumer, it's tough to plan these 500 console purchases (especially if you own more than one) and then a couple years have another half step up to the next one for a small difference in performance.
I thought the Spiderman 2 ps5 limited edition was a good deal. It was the only choice I had to get them cover plates, controller, and a digital copy. I hate that it's a digital copy but I'm okay with it.
Still waiting on a "Pro" with more storage built in and a better form factor. Was patient waiting for a reasonably priced PS4 Pro, no issue doing the same again. Current 1TB + 4TB external demands a price drop in SSD to be able to have the same library and more.
I think that also Microsoft updated the Series X process node(i don't know about the Series S),because the max power draw from my Series X with gta 5 fidelity mode is exactly 163w,meanwhile when i had the PS5 1200 model in the same exact condition (gta 5 with fidelity mode, same spot inside the game) it consumed 234w.
Both measured from the wall in the most intensive spots in the map, basically inside a lot of bushes.
Series x sucks
@@billpogi23XSX is a superbly designed console.
Sony did a 2020s console with 90s internals design and as stated by the OP their power consumption is atrocious and the "pro" will at best be slightly better than XSX or its equal.
This aged so well 😂😂
There will 100% be a PS5 Slim, its something they've always done and also helps boost sales on the second half of a console generation.
I truly believe in my opinion that there won't be any "pro" versions of PS5 or Xbox. The reason I think this is because last gen both console were under powered from day 1 and greatly needed a mid gen upgrade.
I'd argue that both XSX & PS5 are powerful enough to get us through this generation (imo).
i agree with this but i don’t even think there will be a slim for the same reasons. Slim and pro consoles were designed to be more powerful but these new consoles are powerful enough like you said
@@TheProphets_Bladethere will be a slim. They need to, to create a reviver within a generation.
@@TheRealMikeMichaelsi don't think it will be this year, as Matt stated with everything that has gone on the PS5 itself has only just become easily accessible. People are already rushing out to buy the "standard" edition of the PS5. Maybe in another 2 years or so they will make another revision or upgraded version. Sad that this generation just feels like it's barely starting because of all the scalping.
Which also leads to the second point is how much would we have to worry about scalping. If it is just a slider version with no noticable hardware upgrades I don't think we would have to worry that much. I found it sad I was reading a few days ago people are already scalping the spiderman limited edition PS5 and cover plates...they are also scalping the cover plates!
We can't have anything nice because of scalpers lol.
@@TheRealMikeMichaels Yeah there are rumors about a slim PS5, those same rumors also say it will be digital only.
@@TheCommanderTaco governments need to enforce regulations against scalping, honestly.
I don't think they'll make any changes to the exterior any time soon despite updating the internal specs over time. I mean, Why would they start selling official ps5 covers separately including special covers and aggressively went after dbrand and anyone who sells the same shaped covers.
Will there be a PS5 slim Spider-Man 2 bundle? I would prefer that to save a bunch of space
It's reasonable to think that the price decrease hints at a more expensive model around the corner I.e pro version. That said, historically speaking I can't see them not have a slim version. If there are people willing to spend money on a slim version, Sony will make one.
Bought a PS5.
Pawn shops in my home town have so many ps5’s on the shelf, they are turning people away. I caught a guy outside the shop after they said no and bought it for 200$, he asked 250$ I only had 200$. It worked one time and now it won’t power on. I’m so bummed. I took it apart, cleaned out the "ROACH GRAVEYARD" and just can’t get it to working. Anyone wanna take a shot at it for a decent price?
on german amazon, its currently 16% off all of a sudden. around the same time they changed it to "standard edition"
Maybe hot take, a newer version of the same console won't matter because developers will still have to account for all systems and make sure games run well on them. So we probably won't see major improvement until the next console generation anyway.
Are you talking about a slim model or a pro model??
Not just that a lot if devs anymore are considerably lazier then in the past, so for people to execpt a PS5 Pro, when the standard PS5 still hasn't been put to its absolute limits, theres still so much untapped potential that has yet to he taken advantage of, the only game I can think of that remotely feels like a game that uses a lot if what the system can do is Ratchet and Clank Rift apart, outside of that every other game feels like a generation late, also Sony still keeping the PS4 alive like they have been is a double edge sword
@@copingflower1909
Yep very true, exactly the comment I wanna see...People be talking about which console should come out Next when we haven't seen that much from the PS5 yet, I mean the remakes are amazing, but the PS5 have so much power I guess the devs are having a hard time since they been still juggling the previous gen at the same time...I mean if we can only see what the PS5 can do (well we've seen it in Ratchet & Clank)...don't even get me started with the 8k 😅
That goes without saying.
PS5 Pro was never going to be a PlayStation 6.
It's a PS5.5 at best.
We don't need a PS5 pro. In my opinion, I wouldn't be getting it. I will wait for the PS6 😄
Think of all the fuss people made about how BIG the PS5 Is, a slim is absolutely coming, this will sway people who have avoided buying a PS5 because of its gargantuan dimensions
you guys didn't mention the most important reason - Sony has given up on making good games. If you're not a Spiderman fan, there is literally nothing slated to come out on the horizon. what good is a fancy console with no games, i ask. I be switching to PC
How about releasing a PS5 that lets you download more than 4 games before maxing out your hard drive space?
If anything, the "PS5 Pro" would probably only come out in end 2024 at the earliest. There isn't really a point to having a Pro version right now when developers have yet to really utilize the full capabilities of this generation of consoles. A "PS5 Slim" would certainly be much more realistic as is tradition per se, but we don't really need it either at this moment in time. There's just no incentive for Sony to introduce a Slim or Pro anytime soon, nor is there any for us consumers, especially considering that the majority of the PS5 owners right now only managed to cinch a PS5 in the last year.
Trying to make people buy a brand new PS5 when they've just had theirs for just about a year old, is pretty ridiculous.
@akerouge3519 •
Exactly my mindset on the subject
What fully utilization of the hw are you talking about? Games that use the controller more? Cuz even now you have games that already kill framerates :)
It will come a Pro November next year, it’s not a maybe 😉
It'll be released in time for the biggest ps5 game release, GTA 6. Perfect chance to showcase a full powerhouse I won't be surprised if rockstar is already developing it's game around the ps5 pro. So yea it's gonna be massive, ps5 pro with GTA 6
@@Superfoodcookie Then release of GTA6 will be mid November or later but the game is multi platform and will work on Xbox as well which won’t come with a updated console next year so either it come anytime late next year, but the game is made for current gen machines, but I hope it come around that time myself and it take some advantage out of it but biggest difference probably be 120fps and see how it fares with 8K as that haven’t worked out well with either consoles.
Will be a great game anyways though I think release in 2025 could be better target but Rockstar is known for releases of same game so if it comes next year I bet it come a new version for the pro and Microsoft next upgrade.
I never got the ps5 or xbox series s or x. But I still really want the spiderman special edition, i think that thing's awesome.
Hasn’t the disc version of the PS5 outsold the digital version? To me it means people still want the option of physical media
PS5 Standard Edition is the one with disc drive.
PS5 digital Edition is without.
That's how they've advertised it here on Amazon in the UK.
I dont think there will be a slim but there will be a Pro version so we can get a more consistent 4k60fps
There has always been a Slim model of Playstation consoles, so a PS5 Slim is practically a given. Heck, most gaming machines eventually receive a revised model. Wouldn't surprise me to see a Slim release this year and a Pro model in 2026.
Yeah but it wouldn't make sense for them to release ps5pro in 2026. Why would they release it 1 year before ps6
@captain_rexzz ps6 isn't even confirmed yet 💀 we'll most likely have the ps5 for another 6 years
Right now I got a PS5 cause its been basically a beefed up PS4 and a lot of the games I have are PS4 games, I never owned a PS4 properly so knowing about the backwards compatibility definitely influenced the purchase
If I buy a ps5 what do I look for on the box to make sure it’s a 1200 model?
I have a feeling they will release a new PS5 for sure XD the changing of names... the price drops of older models... yeah haha
A detached disc drive as the standard sounds like the absolute worst thing, I really hope that will be for the non-main version of the console.
Sounds like next gen will only come discless. Seems they (Sony) are working toward digital only and streaming being the future of console.
@@RJ2A81 No, it's been clearly stated that Sony will begin manufacturing Digital only PS5's and WILL offer a separate Disc drive with the accompanying side plate to make it a Disc Version of the PS5 like the current Disc model.
It’s unfortunate but it does look like we’re going towards a digital only future. Anyone who wants a PS5 with a disc drive better buy one now.
Will it be HD-DVD?
Am still waiting for the ps5slim/pro..my ps4 is still alive and kicking up dust in 2023..damn..ps4 is nearly 10yrs old. 😮
Don't believe these guys is called a PlayStation 5 standard because there's a PlayStation 5 version of Spider-Man
Good point
Wasn't this the dude that said the Xbox one was going to murder the PS5 in the power department?
Every year Sony has come out with a more affordable version of their console since the Playstation 1 hence the slim models. . It would be nice to have a slim model of the PS5 but i guess time will tell if Sony goes that route or not.
Slimming done skus not only reduces costs via manufacturing and materials, but the supply and stocking, which becomes critical when you are talking about shipping millions of units, in time for the holidays and over the life cycle of the generation.
If PS6 (or maybe a pro-version) will come out when GTA6 releases, it wouldn't surprise me. The launch of that game often went hand in hand with a ps-releases or close enough atleast. Ps4 release was hardly a month after Gta5. GTA-franchise also often is first released on the PS.
I bought a series x because the ps5 is too big and for whatever reason I like the black rectangle. I’m not a big gamer, I just wanted a new gen console. If they release a ps5 slim (and short lol) I would want one way more
I sold my series X they have lack of games and not grand Turismo (super good game lol)
@@PatrickGotHands I feel that. The lack of exclusives is real. Mine came with the new Forza Horizon which is a fun game but definitely not on gran turismo level for simulation
@@negativ3spacegran turismo is trash bro, i would much rather have horizon with the free roaming aspect.
To me it's more likely that a slim will be a thing, but i highly doubt a pro will be a thing. There are no demands for 8k yet, as we saw in the last gen with the high demand of 4k which made the pro and one x, sense to be a thing,
Except you're forgetting that there a huge demand for 4k 60. Games aren't thitting that mark anymore and a lot of gamers are mad for some reason. A pro will shut them all up.
These consoles can't even do true 4k. A PCs GPU can't even do native 4k unless it's a 4080-4090 for high refresh rate gaming. Lower end GPUs could do it but won't get high fps which you'll need to use upscaling. Still room for improvement for these consoles going forward so who knows if there will be a pro or not. I say skip it and go at it with the ps6 and next generations.
I always thought the slims version start to show up when the sales/demand goes down. Playstation sees consoles sales decrease 30 to 40% in a quarter and then they release a slim and lower the price a bit to get those unit numbers up.
The slim models come out when the parts required to make them become much cheaper so they can lower the price and sell more of the console
@@d8l835 That is true but I don't think that is 100% all. If you look at the market this Slims come out when there sales start to go down the smaller cheaper parts is just normal progressing of tech. Computers show this all the time. You can go buy a great computer for 3k and in less than 4 years you go from beast to common.
@@ariesace02not so much at 3k price point that's more beast to above average
The slim announced today is 50 bucks more than a digital edition. BUT you have the option to buy a disc drive if your option doesnt have one.
I am looking forward for a slim model. I hate the big one, it is one of the reasons i have not bought a ps5 - the big ass mountain and the lack of next gen games. But since Sony has no competion from Microsoft, they think they are market leaders. But if they oppened their eyes and looked to Nintendo, they would know that the portability of the Switch is one big reason for Nintendo to be the market leaders
That is probably why they are also trying to get back into the handheld market with the Q they announced lol.
@@TheCommanderTaco yes, but the Q Project is ripping off the wrong nintendo sistem. They should be trying something like a steam deck, a asus rog and switch, not trying to do a Wii U
Agreed 💯
Yeah I got the ps5 last year and I hate how big it is. I think it looks awesome but I just wish it was like 30 percent smaller. I loved the PS4 because of its size but also because it was a box that I could set it on either side and not worry about a stand. I’m not an Xbox fan but I think the Series X is a great design and I love how smaller and modular it is, not to mention it’s a cube so you can basically set it either or. It’s why I loved the GameCube so much, I just like mobility and compactness.
@@newginslab6993 that is the thing: you can have a home console that is portable/moveable. The ps2 sold really well and I am sure the slim version (that was smaller than many books) was a big reason.
Just having the option of moving a console from the living room to your room or when you move from a house to go on vacation. You could go with your ps2 or gamecube easily. Now with a Ps5 you have to have a specific place for it, and leave it there forever
I did JUST break down and get a PS5 Digital for some of the exclusives that seem to be taking forever to hit PC. That MFer is YUGE. So now that I bought it, there's DEFINITELY a slim coming out, cause that's what happens every time I break down and give in to buying a console
I bought a PS5 Digital Edition about a month ago and I'm still happy with it. It's big, but it's also an attractive, symmetrical console. And at least to me, there's something special about owning original hardware in a console generation. Besides that, we have no idea what the Slim is going to look like. It might look better or worse. What I'm guessing is that Sony is going to tone down the design and go for something more minimalistic. I expect that the distinctive fin look will be gone.
Funny thing is im still waiting on getting a ps5 i just afraid because of all the problems ive noticed thats popped up im still on a ps4 but i do want an upgrade cuz in the future ps4 will be completely phased out
As long as they keep the power, space & add an aptional external disc drive, they can phase out the disc version tomorrow for all i care!
There is no way Sony would price the disc drive accessory at $200. It would be a detachable drive yeah but not that much, I'd say around $100.
It should be 20$ and no more! It is just a fking dvd reader, that is it! It will just have to read the disc and bluray, the rest of the console is the one doing the hard work!
It probably will cost 100$ or something like that, but it shouldn't!
@@DavidJCOprobably could buy a third party one for cheap
I’m fine with the detachable dvd reader for a slim. However if they do that with the pro model I think it would be ridiculous, your already probably going to pay extra money for the “pro” model (600$?) so you’d think they would have an already attached DVD player in it. I love the ps5 (mostly) but ever since they announced the q and also all these live-service games I’m starting to doubt Sony and PlayStation. It’s feeling like ps3 all over again where they overestimate and are overconfident and that’s where they start losing the console wars. I really think Jim Ryan is not a good fit for PlayStation and they need to get back on track with how they handled the PS4 initially. They had a winning formula but it seems Sony is trying to mess it up. That’s just IMO
I still can’t believe the ponies would get a petition going when they don’t get their way on their preferred plastic box. Lol
The salt always flows with the ponies lol
Just know the Xbox will be obsolete 😂 and you know it .. better they refresh or its game over
In a way I don't see a point for a slim model existing because there's already a disc less version but at the same time they could just make that one smaller and call that one the slim
no devoloper has pused either console to what they can do so whats the point in a pro or new xbox
There's been a smaller model for every PS. I will actually be mad if they don't do it this time because I absolutely hate the way the PS5 looks. And I'm not gonna lie, that's a huge reason I haven't bought one yet.
Right there with you man
I was thinking exactly the same until SF6 came out and recently realised the game was faster on PS5 obviously (I don't play on PC), and I needed the best perf for playing the game, so I bought it and trust me it was a very very good surprise when I unboxed it with my brother, the console is in fact really pretty and fits very well in my room when standing verticaly next to the tv. So performance-wise if you need it, don't get stuck on the idea that it is too big etc, I am in fact so happy to own it now.
The slim consoles are always cheaper (looking) and look less premium, don't expect the slim version to look any better, actually expect it to look worse lol the only slim that actually looked nice and not cheap as fuck was the PS3 slim.
Actually bought it, because I hated to spend loads of money on a gaming pc, certainly with the latest 'problems' and some overpriced parts. My last one was the ps2 and actually have to say, I'm very happy with my decision. Getting a new big screen tv, a yearly Plus-subscriptionfee, many hardcopy games and accesoiries, still came out to be very worth it and didn't break the bank.
Personally I wouldn't wait and it truely looks very nice tbh.
Yep same here
I'd like to see the Slim and actually sold mine (for a small profit after two years of use lol) in anticipation of it. I actually like the spaceship design, but the disk drive looks weird and it's just very big.
Hi,
I am planning to buy PS5...
Should I wait for new PS5 Slim or I should go for Original PS5 which is already in market.
Please suggest which one should I buy...... ?
GO FOR ORIGINAL OR ELSE
It's £400 in the UK and £300 if you trade in a console. I'm going to trade in my PS4 for one this weekend I think
@Matt they did the board shrink on all FAT PS consoles before releasing the slim one. The slim version is surely coming
Too late, I bought 2
I've always waited for a slim model cause I did it with ps3 and ps4 cause by then if there is any problem or bugs with something they would most likely be fixed
1:38 well you were wrong about the ps5 slim not coming. Because it’s coming in just a few days. 😂❤
Imagine just getting a PS5 only to learn a pro version is around the corner
Yeah, I'm kinda worried about it. I just got my ps5 march of last year. A Pro version coming out so soon after I just bought the normal one would be a bummer for me. I hope it's not the case.
I'm waiting on the 50 million special Edition in transparent dark blue with serial number plate... like the PS4 50m SE.
I would like a design change. As I didn't like the silly waste of money Sony did with it I am happy with the Series X design. I like the square design styles. No fuzz how to place the unit. No waste of money. I think I might wait for the PS6, even if it takes many years
I wish someone can read this comment and make a video about this.
I wish the PS5 camera could be used to record normal clips. I want to add my FaceCam video on my gaming video recordings without streaming LIVE or making clips on Twitch. I’ve always wanted this on PlayStation cause what is the use of the camera besides steaming and Astro’s Playroom? Please make a video about this.
One of the underrated benefits of the US is no VAT on any electronics within a certain price range (i think as long as the MSRP is under $800). I low key feel bad for Europeans who have to pay asinine ridiculous VAT that slaps a substantial price increase on basically everything.
Then again, i suppose that tax helps them pay for their superior healthcare system and they usually get an entire MONTH of guaranteed paid time off, so higher taxes gives them a higher standard of living.
I already have a PS5 so I'm not interested in a slim version or detachable disk drive. Now if the rumors are true about the PS5 pro that I might be interested in.
Can't see them doing a ps5 pro. Already at 120fps and 4k. Mainbe the problem will be able to maintain both but I don't think so
The removable disc drive version has already leaked online. They will just stop the current disc drive and digital one and replace it with the removable disc drive variant so it’s one console
I think there would be a lot of backlash if they'd phase out the disc-version. Because people would be like "See?! they want to kill physical media!". - And sure, companies might want to, but also discs still sell a LOT, cause people still want them. - I'm actually someone who prefers digital because I live in the 2020s, even though I am from the late-'80s. I just don't think it makes sense and I have enough physical crap already, let alone the hassle and noise of using a disc, with data that's outdated with one update for a game. - It's not of this time. - But anyway, STILL, I don't think the general consumer would stand for it. And I would agree, because people want/need a disc-drive for the most part, at least as an option. - The disc-drive on my PS3 Slim stopped working properly, so I'm screwed out of playing the discs on that thing. Unless I replace it, which... I can't really be bothered with. - See how all of this is very double-sided...
1:50 Austin interrupts Matt for the upteenth time. "Stop talking. I'm Austin Evens. I'll say what you were about to say better than you." 1:58 Matt smiles at peeps behind the camera who are smiling back knowing exactly how Matt feels.
I thought it was just me who saw that.
@@davidntumba2447 it was almost cringe worthy
This next iteration will be the one to make the digital and physical PS5 obsolete.
(At least in their eyes)
If what we've heard is true they can sell one single model with an optional disc drive. And most likely the pro model will also use the optional disc drive which means that will be how they deal with things going forward at least until the PS6 which I would be amazed if it actually has any form of physical media at that point.
Digital consoles make no sense to me. If that's what someone wants they should just buy a PC

Same here. The all digital future basically means PC is the only way to go. Once there's no competition and all sales will go through the various console storefronts and only through those storefronts PC will have the edge completely.
If Sony brings out the Slim and it has a more pleasing astatic design, then it will be a winner. The current massive design of the Ps5 is just a monstrosity to many gamers. They certainly made a design mistake with the PS5, imo.
The ps5 and series x sizes are the reason why I stayed on last gen (Xbox one x) until this week since it finally died. I’m getting a ps5 digital and some rounded black face plates to make it look smaller and not stand out so much on my entertainment center
Dolby Atmos for Headphones on XBX requires purchase and plus horrible delay
I am in debate with my self if i want to buy a ps5 altho i have a xbox series s and a gaming laptop
Oh this video aged like milk, bc the ps5 slim is more expensive than the normal one
Just bought it when it went on sale . Gonna be good for at least 2 years I think. Couldn’t wait for the spider man edition but that looks amazing
Even if a slim drop I’ll skip it and wait for the PS5 pro as I’m waiting for September 1st for my spidy special edition even though that’ll be a waste getting a pro mod I did it for the PS4pro so I’ll do same for the P5pro just because I like the newest more powerful hardware
I have always got the ps slims, for ps5 it's no different, waiting for the slim, so hope it does come out, if not, I hope PlayStation keeps bringing ps games to PC more often
Liked the video for that Vats edit! Awesome!
Something maybe not many knows or do but you can get a ps5 at GameStop for 450 plus if you trade in a Nintendo switch, Xbox, or PlayStation console you get an additional 50 dollars off pretty good deal
4:48 inflated Ps5 sales also due to
Covid and everyone been on lock down. Plz take that into consideration. Same with other console sales around that time
I’m lagging for no reason I have good connection port open mtu test ok firewall low still others plateforme kill m qouic even I have one gb connection with experience
isn’t the physical console is 70% of sales and digital is 30% so why would they phase out the physical?
I think personally that they will announce a slim within the next year, but just aren’t ready to. My guess would be they’re waiting for Spider-Man 2 to release and for its hype to die down. Spider-Man 2 is the console’s big exclusive, and if people knew a slim was coming but wasn’t ready yet, all the people who still don’t have a Ps5 might wait to purchase the slim before getting a Ps5 or Spider-Man 2.
I agree its going to be another 1 slim or pro leaning more towards the slim tho because the new nintendo is coming out next year! They have to compete!!
For me, saying 'Standard Edition' is like.. basic PS5, no included game code (let's face it, physical pack ins are probably done when even Nintendo doesn't do it anymore 🤷) OR DOES include a game, but it's just a regular console with no game and a physical game as a special bundle. Like Target / Best Buy / GameStop during Black Friday deals.
Versus other versions.. like the God of War / Horizon 2 / FFXVI editions that have special box art with a basic console, and actual limited / special editions like the Spiderman 2 variation they've got coming.
This could also include a default console (black, white, red, blue, or silver), a pack in game, and a limited edition controller, like the Ragnarok one.
Genuinely don't put much stock into Amazon or any other retailer (even if Sony has some say in the listing) saying 'regular edition' and interpreting that as 'there's a new console coming soon!'
Though, it is true.
There is probably a new variant on the horizon, but I also think Sony played catch up for over two years, meaning it COULD have come out next year but now they'll probably push it to 2025.
I wouldn't wait a year and a half just to buy a new variant when the experience of gaming on a PS5 is just vastly superior to PS4.
Not just loading times, every game looking, sounding, and controlling better, and things streaming faster (both online videos and actual games), but the quality of life things too.
Like not having to deal with shitty little USB micro anymore. Genuinely HATE that cabling.
My PS4 tops out at 700Mbps (683 is the actual peak). My PS5, with the same set-up? 974.
Fun activity:
I grabbed Lego City Undercover (Wii U died and I wanted a cheap open world game). It loads in 117 seconds on PS4. And just 26 seconds on PS5. The pop-in (notoriously bad on that game) is half as noticeable, and the overall performance is massively improved.
Playing Ragnarok and other first party games is slightly better performance and slightly better visuals. Third party games that drag ass on PS4? A world of difference.
Replaying Witcher 3 is genuinely glorious and Cyberpunk is an actual delight.
And that's nothing to say for the games I can't play in any shape on PS4.
Returnal, FFXVI, Integrade, Ghost Wire, Rift Apart (just a fun platformer) are all a pretty good time and all pretty different.
But I have a tough time choosing to go back to PS4 (even if it's cheaper) when the PS5 versions just perform so much better.
Maybe not everyone has had the same experience.
I still haven't played the new Demon's Souls and I never will. It's just not my type of game.
I get a ton of people might be looking forward to things like Lords of the Fallen or Lies of P (which plays like a worse Bloodborne or a better Steel Rising), but I'm kinda just looking for games like SO2 Remake and Rebirth. Games that are fun to play and are just at their peak on PS5.
I remember my friends, dealing with RROD on 360 (I had two different Xboxes go through it) and I had TWO power unit failures that bricked an OG Xbox One AND a One S.
My PS4, 8 years in, still runs fine. The fan is louder, games run a bit more slowly, the external HDD is a bit finnicky.
So I upgraded. And while I don't game every day, 6+ hours a day like a professional gamer, it's in daily use. It's probably still on 4+ hours a day, but it makes literally everything it can do (and everything PS4 did) that much smoother, without sounding like a gas air compressor 🤷
But wouldn’t you say the ps5 slim was the ps5 digital?
The ps5 price in Jamaica is about 150k and it's because of the shipping
That Vats reference just came out of nowhere! hahaha
There is definitely a new version of the PS5 console coming soon. Everyone seems to be referring to it as a "slim" model but I don't think it will be a lot thinner.
No
Will there be a pro? cous im thinking of buying a ps5 in a bit
I can’t unsee the triangle on Matts head in some camera perspective up to minute 5:57
