The dagger not being covered in blood is actually pretty realistic, blood doesn't coat blades like it does in media where you see swords/knives covered in a thick layer of blood (even if there is no visible blood there are particles on the blade that is unavoidable), the sharper the blade the less likely you are to get a lot of blood on it especially if the cut was fast. It's like how when you cut yourself while using a kitchen knife you see very little if any visible blood on the knife itself.

The issue for Corlys is that if Driftmark is passed to his granddaughter, it will no longer be the house seat of the Velayrons. It will become the house seat of whomever she marries. It may not be completely out of just the goodness of his heart, but I give him props for not disinheriting them because they do not share blood. His son accepts them as his own and they carry his name. It's not like Rhaenyra was sneaking around behind Laenor's back and Laenor is oblivious to the fact that those aren't his bio kids. Laenor knew and accepted them as his own. Laenor and Rhaenyra more or less used a sperm donor to have children. I think people underestimate the importance of her having children, and Laenor couldn't give them to her so she did what she had to do. I see a lot of comments (not here) hating on Rhayenara because of her kids, but she and Laenor basically used a sperm donor. Does that really make them illegitimate? (I know that, yes, in the time period it takes place it does, but she doesn't deserve the hate for it, in my opinion).

I agree, part of Rhanerya duty was to marry and produce heirs to strengthen her right to the throne and that's what she did. She was forced to marry a gay man who could not give her heirs, so they used a sperm donor they could trust to do just that. She did her duty as her father told her to. The show is making a point that she is turning into Otto and see's her kids as political pawns. Also the insult was true. But calling the future king a bastard is a significantly larger deal than a second son losing an eye. That may sound crazy, but in that world questioning the legitimacy of the future king is a massive deal
She ultimately is the reason her children were killed because of the throne. Similar to Cersei’s prophecy, even knowing the facts, they end up making the same decisions to make them come true. Even if Rhaenyra disliked her brothers, she wouldn’t have killed them. The tension was always Alicent poisoning her sons thoughts. Aegon even said he didn’t want it, this happens again when Viserys actually dies. He doesn’t want it. But Criston Cole makes him believe Rhaenyra will murder him and his siblings if he does not ascend the throne. So he does, but he also offers for Rhaenyra’s youngest sons Aegon III and Viserys II to be his squires growing up. Hoping she would take this as a peace offering. Against Alicent and Cole’s wishes. Lol Unironically, Rhaenyra views this as an insult and believes he wants her children as Hostages aswell as the Iron Throne.

Those are the people that bound dragons to their will. No people whining about what is and isn’t fair. This was Aemonds only chance to claim a dragon, and he took it. That’s the will that it takes to bind a dragon like Vhagar. Rhaena didn’t have it.
Rhaenyra made a huge mistake making everyone believe she is willing to kill her husband to advance her position, which proves alicent's suspicions of rhaenyra and may prompt her to act first in order to avoid a similar situation.

Vhagar always had a type, her riders were bold and fearless like Visenya the badass who fought during the conquest, Baelon who is Daemon's father, and Laena, all three of them were bold and fearless. From the small time we've seen Rhaena, she doesn't fit that type. Aemond on the other hand, at age 10 he went up to the biggest dragon of this era, at night and alone, commanded it, and was tested by Vhagar and passed, after I saw him do all of that, in my opinion he deserved to be Vhagar's rider.
Helaeyna, while playing with the spiders in this episode, speaks of "spiders looming webs of green and black" , etc. . she's a " dragon dreamer" ( what Viscerys tells Alicent he wishes he was in episode 3). They foretell prophecies. Aegon and Aemond think she's nuts. And nobody ever listens to her. But she's going to be an important character! She's the only one in this show( that i know of) that is both dragon rider, and dragon dreamer 💕🔥🔥🐲
@Fishy I started in the order they were written, Fire and Blood Vol 1, then A Game of Thrones. That's enough reading material for months, lol, depending on how fast a person reads. I don't remember exactly the order the rest of the books come in, but I know The Dance of Dragons was written waaaay after other books. I'd Google their proper order, but I'd definitely start at the beginning. I've only read the first 2. But I've watched RUclips videos about the history and Lore of the Dance of Dragons( which I regret.. there were spoilers for the TV show in those!) 😒😒... my advice, don't do that! You'll regret it. Well, at least I did! I was so mad at myself for that! GRRM has also published a very beautiful book that has like 150 illustrations from artists all over the world that painted portraits of exactly what he said his characters, iron throne, etc, everything looked like. I can't remember the name of it, but I'm interested in purchasing that! I've seen a few pics of the art on the Stephen Colbert show when he interviewed GRRM. The art is amazing 💕💕

Someone mentioned this but I’ll elaborate. Helena is a “Dreamer” which means she can foresee the future. At this point she doesn’t realize her gift and it’ll be interesting to see how the show develops her character. Pay attention to what she says as it foretells what will happen.
That “where is duty, where is sacrifice” scene…Olivia Cooke doing some Dinklage level lifting there. The agony, the passion! That’s a Emmy nomination scene. “We Know Father. Everyone Knows”.That’s Aegon’s “the Prince will remember that little Lord” moment. Aemond taming Vhagar & holding his own in a 1v4 makes him the real chad in my eyes. Only wholesome moment, our Prince resting his head on his mom’s shoulder to let her know she can depend on him. Last but not least, GOATTO Hightower with the coldest win or you die reference, “we play an ugly game”...and I’m the meme of Homer Simpson decked out in green onsies, sitting on green cushions, wearing a Hightower snapback, holding a Go Greens flag with a Alicent poster on the wall😂.
Huh, you guys bring up a really good point about the portraits. Like, each reigning King should've gotten a portrait, and these would have been preserved. that daughter who was shouting her dragon was "stolen" should have listened to her mother leana who explained that dragons are not inherited and dragon chooses the rider in last episode. to clarify, aemond was 1st physically attacked by the entitled 4(2 of them taking part in bullying him in past, 3 of them barely younger than him), who ganged up on him and falsely accused him of stealing the dragon and then started with blows ( he clearly didn't start , they did). 1st twin pushed him, he pushed her back. 2nd one punched him, he punched her back. etc. he was replying in proportion. he didn't use the stone. he just threatened, even took it down when others backed down for a moment in the middle . lenor is alive but some random innocent is killed. also with lenor still alive, any children she will have with daemon are also going to be illegitimate. and what about seasmoke given what dragons are supped to be, especially to their rider in that world? and there will be lot more plot holes if he keeps being alive. hope writers kill him by some accident soon. also the fact that rhaenyra and daemon expect lenor to give up everything but the boyfriend and be a willing tool of them, says a lot about their mindset towards others. this was same as cole asking her to flee to essos. it was too selfish of cole to ask then, it was same for them to ask lenor . fact that he agreed makes his character weak and unlike him as presented before. btw daemon was carrying out an eye for an eye justice on many people in king's landing in 1st episode.
there are absolutely zero holes if he is kept alive. Aegon married two wives and it was consider legitimate so there is no issue there. There is absolutely Nothing in the books that say the dragon bonds are permanent while the person is alive, and that dragons are never truly tamed. After a time apart it can move on just like any other 'animal' bond. And the kid fight, she pushed him back without hurting him, he threw her down hard injuring her. Even ganged up he wasn't going to be permanently hurt by the 4 CHILDREN just hitting him. He literally threatens their lives, then holds up a makeshift weapon. You are just as one sided as those you claim are.
Nonsense, Vhagar did not choose Aemond, He simply accepted him. There's a difference. If Rhaena tried to bond with her first, she most likely would have accepted as well, but she was in mourning....her mothers funeral was that morning...Aemond like the proverbial phrase literally snuck out like a thief in the night to try to claim her first. Vhagar has known Rhaena her entire life, since her mother was pregnant with her, also she has more targeyen blood than her mother, even more than Aemond. Also Aemond was being a prick, he literally told her to have her cousins find her a pig to ride, "it would suit her"......he doesn't know her, she never bullied him, why insult a grieving girl who's done nothing wrong to you. He told her sister, he would feed her to his dragon if he touched her again. He told the strong boys they will burn, just as their father did. Dude was a rude, violent and pompous prick, The fact that he didn't "Hit first" doesn't say anything......In many fights where the cause is investigated, it's not always "who hit first"....but who instigated the fight by their actions/words prior to violence. He knew what he did was wrong and was a prideful pompous prick about it. Like someone finding their partner in bed with someone, it's consensual right? that's all that matters, yet they get emotional which leads to physical confrontation in many cases. Both sides were wrong....but to claim Aemond was "just defending himself" reminds me of white southeners flying confederate flags claiming the "south was defending themselves"........when they seceded to protect slavery....Their actions led to the violence that ensued. Also in the books, they never confirmed if someone killed Daemon's wife or if it was a pure accident. Also in the books, they never confirm whether Lyonel and Harwin were murdered, it was simply an accident. Both cases were never confirmed but in the show they were. So the writers add/change things here and there. Finally, in the books, Leanor is straight up dead. Not free and alive elsewhere, they never confirmed why Ser Qarl killed him and fled but many speculate it was daemon who ordered the hit so he could marry his niece. A dragon will bond with someone else if it's dragonrider has been gone/missing/far for a long time. It assumes the person is Dead. I'm pretty sure dragon riders have gone missing in the past. Leanor wasn't weak, he knew those were not his kids and everyone knew it, he knew she wanted to marry Daemon, he knew he was gay and had to hide it in westeros, he knew there was so much responsibility on him and that he would might eventually be disinherited and driftmark passed to his sisters line since he had no kids and didn't plan to. He wasn't weak, he simply accepted reality and went to live free. Daemon probably set him up with a lot of the gold he got in pentos.
Not killing Laenor for real was the worse thing this episode did, what kind of a selfish person would make his parents believe they’re dead so just they could run away to avoid their responsibilities.

She has been doing everything she is being told from the very beginning all the while Rhaenyra keeps doing the opposite and constantly gets away with it. She postpones her wedding as long as she could, declines every single suitor, while Alicent had to marry an old man. The books aren't completely accurate because they're supposed to be history books and like many of those they're made up of different accounts, some unreliable, falsified or exaggerated, and the actual truth can be wildly different.

Primarily three sources; a septon, a maester and a fool. All have their own agendas and aren't exactly reliable. Amusingly, the source that seems least likely to be accurate on differing points (the fool) has been most right across many of the points of contention so far. Those stories do not have a definitive answer around Laenor, but essentially put it down as murder by Qarl (quoting witnesses) for unknown reasons (speculated to be either insulting him in some way, or more likely at the behest of a benefactor... such as Daemon - but nobody really knows or has any concrete info, and Qarl isn't seen again). *****POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT***** I believe Laenor will return under a new name (Addam of Hull) during the Dance itself, and ride Seasmoke once more in battle. Perhaps Qarl is killed in their adventures in Essos, or perhaps he also comes back under a new name. The histories just never found this out - it can fit quite easily. The Velaryons and those closest to them (Rhaenyra/Daemon etc) would know, obviously, which is why as per those histories they acknowledge this character as a 'bastard' son of Corlys who is legitimized by Rhaenyra.

I forget which actor it was on LOTR who didn't like the lighting at Helms Deep during filming and reportedly asked the cinematographor 'where is all the lighting coming from' to whch he repied 'the same place as the music' . The point being it's to aid the story telling and the viewing experience and the tension like score does, aim to keep it genre and time appropriate but if it becomes destracting it stops doing it's job
As part of the PC Master Race, I just turned up the gamma in my settings until I could see everything (since they shot in the day time and just used processes afterwards to make it look like night). However, TV users were shit out of luck and stuck with it unless they fiddled with their TV settings for a while.

Hey guys, the darkness is fine if you watch it like a movie (in the dark). Since you are reactors (hopefully not nuclear), you end up with background lights and such it may effect your eyes so you it appears darker because of the contrast. It always about tricking your eyes (balance, really). I love GOT and that HOTD so my wife and I make sure we see everything (love that darkness), but we don't dabble in reactions so...its easier for us.

The lighting was... interesting. My living room TV is big and relatively new and must have still been set for GoT season 8 because this episode was clear as a bell for me. I even thought it was a little bright for nighttime. (I was also watching it at night with all the lights off.) But when I watched it again on my smaller TV in my bedroom understood what everyone was complaining about. I couldn't see anything. I think the problem is that when they produce these shows they edit them on big, very high res equipment and they don't screen it on a regular TV to make sure it still looks good. 🙄
Also like to point out that dragons can't be stolen because they aren't inherited. They choose their rider. Vhagar was ridden by Daemon and Viserys's dad, but she wasn't passed down to Rhaenyra. Meleys, Rhaenys's dragon, was ridden by Daemon and Viserys's mom, but she wasn't claimed by either boys when they grew up. In the book there's a slightly longer period of time between Leana's death and Aemond claiming Vhagar. This happened at Laenor's funeral in the book. There would have been more time for Rhaena to claim her, if she'd intended to. You snooze, you lose.

Luke would not inherit Driftmark and Rhaenyras heir Jacerys would look even more like a bastard because his brother for some reason isn’t worthy of Driftmark, this would just cause even more doubt to the realm who already didn’t want a woman to begin with and think her sons are illegitimate and therefore so is she and it strengthens Aegons claim and line. All publicity is good publicity. Even when the audience complains, the show gets attention. People want to watch this episode to see if they can see what others cannot. They want to see if the lighting is as bad as people say it is. They want to see if the content is better than the form. Conversation centres on "this was good", "that was bad", "overall, it was great".
At 11:00 Rhaenyra’s kids are Velaryons by name, that was part of the deal they made until they ascend the iron throne. While Baela/Rhaena are Targaryens after their father Daemon and their names will be whoever they marry in the future. Corlys is basically saying, history will remember the boys are Velaryons. It’s about the last name and his namesake’s legacy going forward. He also seems to have accepted the boys as his Grandsons.

I dont know if it’s just that sanyo makes good cheap tvs but I had no problem seeing the episode, just like i could see the long night epi just fine (a different sanyo but still) and my settings are one of the regular-degular presets. I totally get what ppl are saying, some of the playback I’ve seen from reactors is just straight up black. So no I didn’t have problems because of a lucky choice in tv brand or something but on some tvs I know it was dark as shit.

The dagger not being covered in blood is actually pretty realistic, blood doesn't coat blades like it does in media where you see swords/knives covered in a thick layer of blood (even if there is no visible blood there are particles on the blade that is unavoidable), the sharper the blade the less likely you are to get a lot of blood on it especially if the cut was fast. It's like how when you cut yourself while using a kitchen knife you see very little if any visible blood on the knife itself.

The issue for Corlys is that if Driftmark is passed to his granddaughter, it will no longer be the house seat of the Velayrons. It will become the house seat of whomever she marries. It may not be completely out of just the goodness of his heart, but I give him props for not disinheriting them because they do not share blood. His son accepts them as his own and they carry his name. It's not like Rhaenyra was sneaking around behind Laenor's back and Laenor is oblivious to the fact that those aren't his bio kids. Laenor knew and accepted them as his own. Laenor and Rhaenyra more or less used a sperm donor to have children. I think people underestimate the importance of her having children, and Laenor couldn't give them to her so she did what she had to do. I see a lot of comments (not here) hating on Rhayenara because of her kids, but she and Laenor basically used a sperm donor. Does that really make them illegitimate? (I know that, yes, in the time period it takes place it does, but she doesn't deserve the hate for it, in my opinion).
Well, Corlys' cousins and nephews would have a stronger claim than Laena's kids besides, if all Corlys cared about was the Velaryon name keeping Driftmark, he'd just have to marry them to another Velaryon (a true one)
I agree, part of Rhanerya duty was to marry and produce heirs to strengthen her right to the throne and that's what she did. She was forced to marry a gay man who could not give her heirs, so they used a sperm donor they could trust to do just that. She did her duty as her father told her to. Should she had picked some random stranger with silver hair instead? Could he be trusted? Was there attraction? Enjoyment? They did what they could do during that time

The show has made a point in showing the drastic differences in parenting. Rhaenyra is affectionate, always hugging, kissing and smiling at her kids. Alicent is disinterested and almost dead faced whenever she has to show affection to her kids. Completely uninterested in them. The show is making a point that she is turning into Otto and see's her kids as political pawns.
Also the insult was true. But calling the future king a bastard is a significantly larger deal than a second son losing an eye. That may sound crazy, but in that world questioning the legitimacy of the future king is a massive deal
She ultimately is the reason her children were killed because of the throne. Similar to Cersei’s prophecy, even knowing the facts, they end up making the same decisions to make them come true. Even if Rhaenyra disliked her brothers, she wouldn’t have killed them. The tension was always Alicent poisoning her sons thoughts. Aegon even said he didn’t want it, this happens again when Viserys actually dies. He doesn’t want it. But Criston Cole makes him believe Rhaenyra will murder him and his siblings if he does not ascend the throne.
So he does, but he also offers for Rhaenyra’s youngest sons Aegon III and Viserys II to be his squires growing up. Hoping she would take this as a peace offering. Against Alicent and Cole’s wishes. Lol Unironically, Rhaenyra views this as an insult and believes he wants her children as Hostages aswell as the Iron Throne.

Those are the people that bound dragons to their will. No people whining about what is and isn’t fair. This was Aemonds only chance to claim a dragon, and he took it. That’s the will that it takes to bind a dragon like Vhagar. Rhaena didn’t have it.
Rhaenyra made a huge mistake making everyone believe she is willing to kill her husband to advance her position, which proves alicent's suspicions of rhaenyra and may prompt her to act first in order to avoid a similar situation.
There was no "prove". Rhaenyra would not kill Alicents kids unless they started a war with her. There is nothing to suggest she would ever kill her brothers. And THAT would prompt Alicent to act first? Alicent basically declared war years before. Otto and the greens have been planning a war for 15 years lol. Vhagar always had a type, her riders were bold and fearless like Visenya the badass who fought during the conquest, Baelon who is Daemon's father, and Laena, all three of them were bold and fearless. From the small time we've seen Rhaena, she doesn't fit that type. Aemond on the other hand, at age 10 he went up to the biggest dragon of this era, at night and alone, commanded it, and was tested by Vhagar and passed, after I saw him do all of that, in my opinion he deserved to be Vhagar's rider.
Helaeyna, while playing with the spiders in this episode, speaks of "spiders looming webs of green and black" , etc. . she's a " dragon dreamer" ( what Viscerys tells Alicent he wishes he was in episode 3). They foretell prophecies. Aegon and Aemond think she's nuts. And nobody ever listens to her. But she's going to be an important character! She's the only one in this show( that i know of) that is both dragon rider, and dragon dreamer 💕🔥🔥🐲
Hey quick question ! If I wanted to start reading the books which order should I buy them in?
@Fishy I started in the order they were written, Fire and Blood Vol 1, then A Game of Thrones. That's enough reading material for months, lol, depending on how fast a person reads. I don't remember exactly the order the rest of the books come in, but I know The Dance of Dragons was written waaaay after other books. I'd Google their proper order, but I'd definitely start at the beginning. I've only read the first 2. But I've watched RUclips videos about the history and Lore of the Dance of Dragons( which I regret.. there were spoilers for the TV show in those!) 😒😒... my advice, don't do that! You'll regret it. Well, at least I did! I was so mad at myself for that! GRRM has also published a very beautiful book that has like 150 illustrations from artists all over the world that painted portraits of exactly what he said his characters, iron throne, etc, everything looked like. I can't remember the name of it, but I'm interested in purchasing that! I've seen a few pics of the art on the Stephen Colbert show when he interviewed GRRM. The art is amazing 💕💕

Huh, you guys bring up a really good point about the portraits. Like, each reigning King should've gotten a portrait, and these would have been preserved. The only thing I can think of is that Westeros literally never went through the paint discovery process? Which is very odd, and now I can't stop thinking about this...
It’s based on medieval eras where tapestries carvings and drawings were most common. Paintings didn’t really happen until later during the renaissance

to clarify, aemond was 1st physically attacked by the entitled 4(2 of them taking part in bullying him in past, 3 of them barely younger than him), who ganged up on him and falsely accused him of stealing the dragon and then started with blows ( he clearly didn't start , they did). 1st twin pushed him, he pushed her back. 2nd one punched him, he punched her back. etc. he was replying in proportion. he didn't use the stone. he just threatened, even took it down when others backed down for a moment in the middle .
lenor is alive but some random innocent is killed. also with lenor still alive, any children she will have with daemon are also going to be illegitimate. and what about seasmoke given what dragons are supped to be, especially to their rider in that world? and there will be lot more plot holes if he keeps being alive. hope writers kill him by some accident soon.
also the fact that rhaenyra and daemon expect lenor to give up everything but the boyfriend and be a willing tool of them, says a lot about their mindset towards others. this was same as cole asking her to flee to essos. it was too selfish of cole to ask then, it was same for them to ask lenor . fact that he agreed makes his character weak and unlike him as presented before.
btw daemon was carrying out an eye for an eye justice on many people in king's landing in 1st episode.
there are absolutely zero holes if he is kept alive. Aegon married two wives and it was consider legitimate so there is no issue there. There is absolutely Nothing in the books that say the dragon bonds are permanent while the person is alive, and that dragons are never truly tamed. After a time apart it can move on just like any other 'animal' bond.
And the kid fight, she pushed him back without hurting him, he threw her down hard injuring her. Even ganged up he wasn't going to be permanently hurt by the 4 CHILDREN just hitting him. He literally threatens their lives, then holds up a makeshift weapon. You are just as one sided as those you claim are.
Nonsense, Vhagar did not choose Aemond, He simply accepted him. There's a difference. If Rhaena tried to bond with her first, she most likely would have accepted as well, but she was in mourning....her mothers funeral was that morning...Aemond like the proverbial phrase literally snuck out like a thief in the night to try to claim her first. Vhagar has known Rhaena her entire life, since her mother was pregnant with her, also she has more targeyen blood than her mother, even more than Aemond. Dude was a rude, violent and pompous prick, The fact that he didn't "Hit first" doesn't say anything......In many fights where the cause is investigated, it's not always "who hit first"....but who instigated the fight by their actions/words prior to violence.
He knew what he did was wrong and was a prideful pompous prick about it. Like someone finding their partner in bed with someone, it's consensual right? that's all that matters, yet they get emotional which leads to physical confrontation in many cases.
Both sides were wrong....but to claim Aemond was "just defending himself" reminds me of white southeners flying confederate flags claiming the "south was defending themselves"........when they seceded to protect slavery....Their actions led to the violence that ensued.
Also in the books, they never confirmed if someone killed Daemon's wife or if it was a pure accident.

Finally, in the books, Leanor is straight up dead. Not free and alive elsewhere, they never confirmed why Ser Qarl killed him and fled but many speculate it was daemon who ordered the hit so he could marry his niece.
A dragon will bond with someone else if it's dragonrider has been gone/missing/far for a long time. It assumes the person is Dead. I'm pretty sure dragon riders have gone missing in the past.
Leanor wasn't weak, he knew those were not his kids and everyone knew it, he knew she wanted to marry Daemon, he knew he was gay and had to hide it in westeros, he knew there was so much responsibility on him and that he would might eventually be disinherited and driftmark passed to his sisters line since he had no kids and didn't plan to.
He wasn't weak, he simply accepted reality and went to live free. Daemon probably set him up with a lot of the gold he got in pentos.
Not killing Laenor for real was the worse thing this episode did, what kind of a selfish person would make his parents believe they’re dead so just they could run away to avoid their responsibilities.

The books aren't completely accurate because they're supposed to be history books and like many of those they're made up of different accounts, some unreliable, falsified or exaggerated, and the actual truth can be wildly different.

Primarily three sources; a septon, a maester and a fool. All have their own agendas and aren't exactly reliable. Amusingly, the source that seems least likely to be accurate on differing points (the fool) has been most right across many of the points of contention so far.
Those stories do not have a definitive answer around Laenor, but essentially put it down as murder by Qarl (quoting witnesses) for unknown reasons (speculated to be either insulting him in some way, or more likely at the behest of a benefactor... such as Daemon - but nobody really knows or has any concrete info, and Qarl isn't seen again).
*****POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT*****
I believe Laenor will return under a new name (Addam of Hull) during the Dance itself, and ride Seasmoke once more in battle. Perhaps Qarl is killed in their adventures in Essos, or perhaps he also comes back under a new name. The histories just never found this out - it can fit quite easily. The Velaryons and those closest to them (Rhaenyra/Daemon etc) would know, obviously, which is why as per those histories they acknowledge this character as a 'bastard' son of Corlys who is legitimized by Rhaenyra.
Viserys is the one character that the more I see him the more I like him, he’s easily the best actor.

I forget which actor it was on LOTR who didn't like the lighting at Helms Deep during filming and reportedly asked the cinematographor 'where is all the lighting coming from' to whch he repied 'the same place as the music' . The point being it's to aid the story telling and the viewing experience and the tension like score does, aim to keep it genre and time appropriate but if it becomes destracting it stops doing it's job

Hey guys, the darkness is fine if you watch it like a movie (in the dark). Since you are reactors (hopefully not nuclear), you end up with background lights and such it may effect your eyes so you it appears darker because of the contrast. It always about tricking your eyes (balance, really). I love GOT and that HOTD so my wife and I make sure we see everything (love that darkness), but we don't dabble in reactions so...its easier for us.
Aemond had every right to defend himself after they physically attacked him. Dont bring those double standard saying she was a girl. So what? She throw the first punch, I dont care if you are male, female or alien, if you hit me you should expect to defend myself and hit you back.

The lighting was... interesting. My living room TV is big and relatively new and must have still been set for GoT season 8 because this episode was clear as a bell for me. I even thought it was a little bright for nighttime. (I was also watching it at night with all the lights off.) But when I watched it again on my smaller TV in my bedroom understood what everyone was complaining about. I couldn't see anything. I think the problem is that when they produce these shows they edit them on big, very high res equipment and they don't screen it on a regular TV to make sure it still looks good. 🙄
Also like to point out that dragons can't be stolen because they aren't inherited. They choose their rider. Vhagar was ridden by Daemon and Viserys's dad, but she wasn't passed down to Rhaenyra. Meleys, Rhaenys's dragon, was ridden by Daemon and Viserys's mom, but she wasn't claimed by either boys when they grew up. In the book there's a slightly longer period of time between Leana's death and Aemond claiming Vhagar. This happened at Laenor's funeral in the book. There would have been more time for Rhaena to claim her, if she'd intended to. You snooze, you lose.

In the discussion when Corleys says about “history remembers names” and about casting a Dark shadow on the boys I know you agreed with Rhaenys but if Corelys did this then surely Rhaenyras succession becomes even more illegitimate and Alicents claims are verified basically. Luke would not inherit Driftmark and Rhaenyras heir Jacerys would look even more like a bastard because his brother for some reason isn’t worthy of Driftmark, this would just cause even more doubt to the realm who already didn’t want a woman to begin with and think her sons are illegitimate and therefore so is she and it strengthens Aegons claim and line.
Sorry for the long post it’s just although Corelys is self interested in his legacy. The alternative could cause anarchy and I believe he cares about his grandsons. (Even if not his by blood)

At 11:00 Rhaenyra’s kids are Velaryons by name, that was part of the deal they made until they ascend the iron throne. While Baela/Rhaena are Targaryens after their father Daemon and their names will be whoever they marry in the future. Corlys is basically saying, history will remember the boys are Velaryons. It’s about the last name and his namesake’s legacy going forward. He also seems to have accepted the boys as his Grandsons.

There is no such thing as claim to a dragon. And even if it was last i checked Aemond has more claim to Vhagar than Laena's daughters and Laena herself ever will. Baleon Targaryen the father of Viserys rode Vhagar before Laena and after Visenya, Aegon I's sister wife and Vhagar is a dragon that belongs to house Targaryen to begin with. Dragons are not things to be inherited. The dragon chooses its rider not the other way around. Many have tried and failed miserably to tame Vhagar and payed dearly for it. A dragon won't bond or accept you just because you have Valyrian or Targaryen blood. Just because you have Valyrian blood doesn't mean you can even become a dragonrider.
Vhagar is still not at her full size here. There are still 10 years before the Dance of the Dragons. At the time of the dance Vhagar will be the same size as Balerion the Black Dread during Aegon's conquest of Westeros. And now imagine that Balerion has grown for another 80 years on top of Vhagar's enormous size.

I dont know if it’s just that sanyo makes good cheap tvs but I had no problem seeing the episode, just like i could see the long night epi just fine (a different sanyo but still) and my settings are one of the regular-degular presets. I totally get what ppl are saying, some of the playback I’ve seen from reactors is just straight up black. So no I didn’t have problems because of a lucky choice in tv brand or something but on some tvs I know it was dark as shit.

The episode was amazing. Great writing and superb acting but oh boy was it disappointing to not really be able to see anything 😑. They could have taken liberties with more moonlight perhaps?
