On my Kraton 1/8 scale exb, I run the Castle MMX8S ESC with either the 1520 or 1717 1650kv motors in 8s. The 1520 is just as strong as the 1717, but heats up easier. I run the stock pinion that came in the box with the 1520, but the 1717 will pull at least a 15 tooth pinion with no heat issues. I've found running th Proline belted MX-38's really help the driveability when running 8s. Some people complain about a lack of air control with the belted tires, but on this truck with my setup, there is plenty of tire weight and wheel speed to flip on command. I also use the auxillary wire set up for torque control, for times when I want to keep all tires on the ground hooking up for maximum control. I just leave channel 3 turned on when I am racing around, then turn it off for full punch when I want to wheelie, jump, and flip. Now I have purchased a spare motor mount from Jenny's Rc, and have both motors mounted with pinions, ready to swap quickly. I have a 21 tooth pinion on the 1520, and a set of smaller race type tires off a Hobao Hyper SSTe that I plan to run on the local track until I can afford a new race track only dedicated platform. With the smaller tires on 4s, the 1520 pulls strong with the 21 tooth pinion, without getting hot. My last test run the motor temps topped out at 127F, and ESC was around 117F running hard in grass.
I have the kraton 1/8 exb running the castle creations mamba x 8s esc and the 1717-1260Kv motor with dual 40x40x28mm powerhobby twister high voltage fans on the motor and 1 on the esc , solid fixed center diff with 46 tooth spur and 25 tooth pinion. Upgraded the front and rear diff with hardened gears and aluminum diff cups. Agfrc 55kg servo, rpm arms and wing mount, full line up of Just bash it rc upgrades including chassis,towers,battery tray, wheel hexes, ect just about every part they offer lol. It's a beast absolutely bullet proof. Able to land hard from 40 plus feet high and just keep going like it was nothing. Honestly it's the toughest rc car I have ever had or seen. Now I'm starting the process of building the 1/5 kraton exb to be just as bullet proof and it will be running on 12s-14s...... DOES ANYONR HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR UPGRADED SHOCKS FOR MY 1/8 KRATON ALL EXTRA WEIGHT I NEED SOME BEEFIER shocks

Honestly not sure that motor is meant to handle 8s Francis. It’s really a 6s sweet spot on those motors. Lol. Great vid and that’s what the hobby is all about. Having fun and mixing it up. Also fixing it up! Haha
I did the exact same thing with the exact same setup today. I purchased it used last night. Played with it on 8s on the max6 and 1650 and as I was bringing it back to pack up it sounded like the diff locked up. I'm also glad it is the motor. It's all locked up 😅😅 mine also doesn't have fans yet
I just got a Kraton V5 BLX. It’s still in the box! Once I decided to do videos everything slowed down because you gotta plan. The used Limitless that I bought to run at Warm Springs in Fremont came with the Spektrum 160A/1250Kv setup. Thinking I’ll swap systems and get better speed out of my Limitless and more grunt out of my Kraton. Probably do the metal diff cups while I’m at it, which I just did in the Limitless.
Hi I have an erevo 2.0 and I upgraded all the electonics to a TP Power 4070CM 2200kv motor and Castle Mamba XLX2 and I run it on 8s with gearing 20/46. It has circa 12+hp. The thing is a monster so I have to be gentle with the throttle. I usually rarely get more than 50% throttle as it accelerates so hard and it has awesome top speed. But I keep a hawk eye on motor temps seeing that the gearing is fairly high and I use a fan. I can definitely recommend this setup for an 1/8 scale basher/truck!
@@RCReviewChannel it would if I gave it anything more than 40% throttle🤣 I have proline badland belted tires on and they really help as they dont balloon up hence reduce wheelies. I can highly recommend this setup for your Kraton!
Insane power, I currently have the stock electronics on my 8s Kraton... I love the power yours showed, But the motor concerned me a little.. of getting that hot with only a 13 tooth pinion, I run my Kraton with the stock 1250kv motor, and a 23T, and the motor stays pretty cool, Yeah I have the heastsink and fan, but 23T to 13T pinion is a huge difference,

I can do backflips like that on my Kraton 6s running a Castle Mamba Monster X 8s and 1717 1650kv motor with 18T pinion and standard spur gear on a CNHL 6s LiPo. I only do one flip at a time. The 1717 is a beast! I run 10k rear diff fluid, 300k center, and 20k front. I do have a 40mm fan on the motor.
How easy was it to get this motor/ESC to bolt up to your kraton 6s? I’d like to go 8s on mine but would like to take the path of least resistance concerning fitment.
I run a max6 1650kv 20T pinion and on 6s it will do standing backflips if the punch is set to 5 but it’s almost undrivable so I run the punch at 3. Run 500k in the center diff. 👍🏻
On the Arrma forum, I was told to scrap the heat sink and run two fans on the motor directly because the heat sink actually holds heat to the motor instead of getting rid of it all
You've been misled since that defies all physics. A heatsink draws heat away from the motor and has a lot of surface area to dissipate the heat into the air. If there is airflow from wind or a fan, it is magic. It's so good it often doesn't even need a fan. But a fan on a motor works well too, just not as well.
also you can try the spektrum 1250kv 4685 size can that is small and was made for 8s. i put the kraton 8s system into my mojave. 23 tooth pinion . the mojave exb is half the weight of the Kraton 8s. I can't put it into words!
There’s a saying in the mountain bike world “ Your not a real mountain biker till you’ve broken some expensive parts”. Just saying. I learned my lessons to not over tighten mtb parts. I know your not going to leave that Fireteam stock. I recently received mine & I’ve had it out on 6S but without the speed pinion in yet. And it’s incredible stable at speed. Even without a gyro it corners super good. Please make a few videos on upgrading it because a lot of people have them know & are very interested in upgrades. I’ve seen a few that have shock mount or frame carbon pieces & also carbon body parts. It runs so well box stock I’m just curious as hell what could be done & in what area of the vehicle would benefit the most for upgrades. I’ll be waiting for any info for sure. Also any recommendations for a full electronics upgrade for a Senton 550 mega brushed short course truck?

I put a hobbywing xr8 plus with the matches G3 2200kv motor. Still 6S but 200 amp instead of 150 into my Arrma Talion 1/8 scale. On 6S I have to keep an eye on the temp but it’s insanely fast. Even on 4S it’s faster than stock motor n esc on 6S.
I have already replaced the motor with a NU castle 1515 2200 kv and steering servo and now I'm having too replace the chassis and the center drive shafts and drive shafts because they are bent lol by the time I get done replacing everything I could have went and bought the 1/5 kration
Great video. Don't see the point though. 6s is already a ton of power for speed, standing back flips etc... Unless u set up 8s and run 6s to avoid heat. Or doing speed runs. Best and cheapest option is add 500k to mil center diff lube. Generates more power to all wheels and saves the trouble of 8s swap. Just my opinion though. Mine is stock 6s and a beast on 16t.
Have a kraton 6s v5 blx put in hobbywing 4985 motor with max 6 . Have a power hobby fan that runs independently on a 3s battery at Luke 30000 rpm on on 6s run 19.tooth on 8 22 tooth but it's a 1650kv motor so need bigger pinion.for rpm
So I have a max6 g2 sensored Bluetooth 200 amp esc here and a 2050kv motor in a k6 with a spectrum stock 150 amp and it’s running good but according to people the max6 will help keep the motor cooler ? I had traded in a blown 250 amp esc spectrum for the max6 for $100
I got a max 6 esc with that exact same motor 2200kv in my traxxas widemaxx v2 I need to change up the diff oils but it handles punch 5 on 20/54 Slides and wheelies for days just in process of updating the servo and some new tyres too couple vitavon bits on there for the weak spots but not too much on the added weight things un real tbf I want to get this setup soon though new kraton amd 8s it!! Hopefully it punches harder than the max do you think I can run my max on 8s with this combo without anymore complications
I have the kration 6s exb I bought it used and the guy said that I could run 6s or 8s batteries with the same ecs I know it's something similar to the one you have I think lol but the only down fall I've had with it is it was supposed to have a bunch of upgrades on it it had some but the biggest thing is that he put a metal bar in it to replace the kration center brace that was a major know know it literally drawed the chassis up to shock tower' to shock tower so now I have to replace the chassis and build it pretty much all over again so by the time I get done with the rebuild I'll have a brand new kration back to spec's

For this setup, a big heatsink and fan. And definitely lighter center diff fluid. Possibly some weight in the front to keep that nose down during massive acceleration.

Only once. That system on 6s was what i usually ran. I was running a 24t pinion, shimmed diffs internally and externally. 50k rear 250k center 30k front. They take it, but with the extra power you should probably be on a more frequent tear down and inspection schedule. My main issue with running an 8s power system is that on any big hit, throttle control on the flip was hard to master because of the speed of the rotation...I mean like spinning 5-6-7 times is hard to tell when to let off for a clean landing. I just didn't find it fun. I might try it again. After that switched back to a max 8 and haven't looked back.
I got exb with castle 8s 1717 1650kv motor and run 17t and never even ran it yet on 8s it does standing back flip on 6s and so fast haven't tried the 8s yet also mojove spectrum 8s esc and leopard 1600kv loads of fun few other beefed cars also all over powered but hardly never run the at full potential until someone heads little to big then show them real power.lol keep up great work and rc juice has a 1730 kv 4092 6s but need run a max 6 because of amp runs like 8s and loads of power work great in kraton and mojave great price .
Makes the vehicle too heavy. The parts can’t take that much weight. Only if you’re running back and forth on super boring mode. In that case go count seconds for an hour.

I haven’t tried it but I heard the arrma nero springs are easy swap, a lot stronger spring. Might be a good solution

Hobbywing 1650kv is the sweet spot!!! 6s with a 20 tooth pinion standing backflips easy rolling backflips up to 10mph…… you’ll love it!!!

Dude the motor he was running was not for 8s that's why it's burnt the esc does is not the only thing that determines 6s or 8s

Oh the center. The thicker it is, the more it wheelies and flips. I believe stock is around 300k. Go to 500k or 1 million

The new censored hobby wing motors are incredible. They have so much modulation and they have more power as well.
That motor is only rated for 6s that's why it went bang. You should have used 5687 1100kv that's a 8s motor.
Might need a new chassis soon I know you say it's a newer chassis but they are weak and bend so easy if your not jumping high you should be good
Yeah, I try to avoid jumping the local bmx track. Everything is huck to flat.
My mt410 is at 9kbs or so i think I’ll get it on a scale but it does backflips standing on 4s.

I swapped a spektrum 1250kv/160a into my k8...it was just too much imo....and hell on my diffs.
good info. Good to know too that the EXB diffs are a little beefier than the standard.

Only once. That system on 6s was what i usually ran. I was running a 24t pinion, shimmed diffs internally and externally. 50k rear 250k center 30k front. They take it, but with the extra power you should probably be on a more frequent tear down and inspection schedule. My main issue with running an 8s power system is that on any big hit, throttle control on the flip was hard to master because of the speed of the rotation...I mean like spinning 5-6-7 times is hard to tell when to let off for a clean landing. I just didn't find it fun. I might try it again. After that switched back to a max 8 and haven't looked back.

Thicker r differential food will give you your front end more control and stayed down I think you have wrong

I have the kraton 6s I also put a hobbywing Max 6 but I have not changed out the stock motor any recommendations on what my next step should be
I have max 6 1650kv in my mojave. It honestly has too much power on 8s. I do however get cooler motor and esc temps when I run 8s vs 6s 🤷♂️.

I got exb with castle 8s 1717 1650kv motor and run 17t and never even ran it yet on 8s it does standing back flip on 6s and so fast haven't tried the 8s yet also mojove spectrum 8s esc and leopard 1600kv loads of fun few other beefed cars also all over powered but hardly never run the at full potential until someone heads little to big then show them real power.lol keep up great work and rc juice has a 1730 kv 4092 6s but need run a max 6 because of amp runs like 8s and loads of power work great in kraton and mojave great price .

Makes the vehicle too heavy. The parts can’t take that much weight. Only if you’re running back and forth on super boring mode. In that case go count seconds for an hour.
