No way hahaha I'm keinwa and I'm shocked that you found this what a small world. I considered messaging you about it but I thought it would be too niche to try it. Love you man, we spoke before about your "pharcyde" fisheye lens and you were really kind, I'm glad you did this, it means the world.
And thank you so so much David
No way! Epic! And you saw this so soon too haha! This one and the zoom lens were the two left on my list of weird RB lenses to try, now it's just the zoom one lol! Glad to have provided some insight for you!
@@willysheepskin Of course subbed with notifications on. Hopefully we can get you that zoom lens soon to try and thank you again for everything you do for Mamiya, I wouldn't have bought one if it wasn't for you.
@@Levoiar Thanks so much man, I'm keeping an eye out for a zoom one for sure haha! It'd be crazy cool if someday Mamiya saw things and decided to send over a phase one back to play with ahah
Name something more iconic than the “hey there, Will here” intro. I’ll wait.
My good sir, you and Pentax mirror lockup events ahah! Thanks though man, glad it's become a fun lil easter egg thing :)))
" And todaaayyy"
I'M A FAN FAN OF THE WHOLE OUTFIT! Looks like you're auditioning for a Wes Anderson film
Cheers fellow William! I had Paris Texas in my head the whole time editing this for some reason ahah, would lowkey love to audition for a Wes Anderson film though
I'm very happy to hear that you're not putting ads on your videos, it's very refreshing to not have to wait through that crap to get to your juicy bits.
I'll definitely be giving you some cash to get some film, maybe consider shooting some slide film if you haven't already!
Glad the decision appeals kind Chimney! Thank you so much for the support, and I'll definitely be shooting some slides in the near future for ya! I have miserable luck with their development but I'm holding thumbs that next time all is perfect haha!
I enjoy your "Lighting McQueen" coloured light meter :D
Cheers! I do too cus its actually a newer model than my main one, but only use it when I don't have the other one on hand ahah, currently the workhorse is being lent to my mate Kent cus' his has disappeared :/
Ha, William you seem like such a cool guy. The likelihood of this actually happening is probably extremely low, but I hope to be able to meet you some day. Cheers from the states
Cheers Kamari! I hope to make my way over there sometime and if I do I shall do my best to find a way to meet up with all who are interested!
@@willysheepskin come to santa barbara too!
The tag on that hat was hilarious!
Ahaha it was! Dangit I should’ve mentioned that!
Your VanWyksDorp Image break down on Buy me a Coffee is absolutely fabulous. Well worth a few $$. Excellent extra Sheepskin content !! YAY !! You write beautifully btw.
Thank you! More to come haha!
My RB showed up yesterday and and its in BEAUTIFUL condition. I cant wait to learn all there is to this rig. And for what its worth, if advertisements help in keeping this channel going, personally I would be 100% for them. Thanks for the vidja.
Congrats on the RB Dylan! The more beautiful the condition the better haha! Don't be disheartened if things don't gel with it instantly, it can take a bit of getting used to but once you've tamed it it'll do right by you! Also glad the idea of ads isn't a bummer for you! I'm holding off on that front still, the support folks have provided on the buymeacoffee is gonna help me make a bunch of cool stuff already!
These lenses are perfect for a street photographer who's an introvert. :D I love the hat!
Ahah an introvert with very good eyesight! Nailing focus with the telephoto things can be quite tricky! Glad you dig the hat Lyubomir, and thanks so much for the roll of film!
Those shots of the city at dawn were amazing. I definitely watched this even though I have no intention of getting an RB lol
Cheers Reimann! Glad you enjoyed it from a non RB enthusiast perspective haha, always keen to have things be interesting even if the main subject isn't the draw for some!
Knocked it out the park as always. The photos were incredible
Also super thankful that you present these videos. Give me all kind of ideas for my Rb
Thanks Miles! Glad you dig the photos and that the presentations give you RB ideas! Super thankful that you watch and enjoy them!
Beautiful city shots!
Thanks Isidoros! Was worth getting up that early again to go make the shot I spotted last time haha!
Immaculate drip sir,10k subs soon‼️
You are my favourite person on the internet
Thank you my good sir, 10k sub special/Pain first comment streak celebration will have to be the same video ahah!

Will - the photo at 4:16 is fantastic. Nicely done, and great video.
Cheers Tristan! Stoked I went back for it after noticing the scene in the background of the dawn patrol viddy haha
I love your use of colour, your images are almost inbetween documentary real life and an ethereal like nature! Interesting lens :D
Oh wow thanks so much Shanil, so glad that things come across that way, that's pretty much my exact intent!
good video Will, thanks for the info on the Mamiya. "Look at me inquisitively, or confused"! Hahah perfect!
Ahah glad you caught that! Cheers Josh!
Another great episode Will. Thanks so much. Shout out to Osher for the Mamiya cap. Kudos.
Thanks so much for watching Aristo! And for the support!
That Red Sekonic is beautiful, and so is that Mamiya Cap!! Hype Beast will Rubbing off on you I see!
Cheers man! He is indeed haha!
Such incredible sharpness coming from that 360mm! As a 'RB67 4 lyf'er I certainly appreciate these reviews 😁
I'm quite impressed with it! Glad you enjoy things Bren, RB67 4 lyf indeed!!
Thanks for covering the issue about the support bracket. Have been eyeing the 350 APO Z lens and saw that exact same post. lol. The 360 C you have is ~1.2kg, the 350 APO Z is ~1.5kg, which both supposedly require the bracket. But the 250 APO Z is 1.4kg and doesn't. Will give it a go and if it feels too squishy, i'll figure something out. lol. Will most likely be using it at far or infinity focus most of the time anyway (aka minimal bellow extension). I imagine the bracket is there to allow full safety margins for all the extra accessories and whatnot you can attach (like both extension tubes and other accessories, which would make it very front-heavy and prob would require the bracket).
Love the redish/pinkish tone you get in your photos!! Amazing
Thanks Salvador! I normally end up toning it down a bit once I’ve had a couple of days to rest the eyes and refine things
@@willysheepskin Please don't, they look so good
another banger ~~~ those lenses are just amazing. lovely photos, making me feel like I should wake up a bit (much, much) earlier.
Thanks a ton Kali! Glad to catch you here after your journey through the older things haha! Waking up a early can be veeery rewarding but also just a bit tiring ahah
Duuude! Coolest hat ever. Great episode!
Thanks man! I concur, it's my new favorite hat haha!
Patreon ftw:) Very entertaining channel sir! I've owned a 500mm Bronica, a 45-90mm, and a 100-220mm. Its comical how huge these lenses for MF can be. I settled on the 250mm +1.4x TC for the longest reach I felt was practical for me, and the IQ is still excellent.
I looked into Patreon but it'd be very difficult for me to actually get funds out of it because paypal is a disaster around these parts. If I ever find a decent way to sort paypal/ open an account with the right bank account I'll make a Patreon I reckon! Also cheers Jeremy, glad you like things! I'm curious about that 500mm Bronica lens now haha! I think the most comical looking one I've seen so far is the 800mm Pentax67 one, it's a chonky fella lol!
@@willysheepskin I had the 500mm EII F8 ETR version. It was comical - it had a giant case just as yours does, and must have weighed at least 8lbs, 3-4 kg. It had a substantial tripod collar and it was sharp wide open with no real vignette to speak of. I have an adapter that allows me to use my ETR lenses on my Canon digital, so I used it on that too. I find that really useful for evaluating older lenses without burning film - in fact, I consider that essential. It makes it so much easier to determine if a lens has a problem or not. It also allows you to compare them head to head in real time - that's how I determined the 250 + 1.4tc was sufficient for my needs. Cheers and keep up the great work 👍
@@jw48335 Woah that's crazy heavy haha! Also thanks for the tips, might have to see if I can source a F mount adapter for the RB sometime to give that a go! Cheers Jeremy!
Hi will, great vid as per usual. You got me to weigh my lenses, 360 is 1.2 kg, 250 is 1.5 kg! 50mm is 1kg 127 O. 6kg 90mm is 0.8kg, 180 1kg, 150 sf 0.9kg. But the go to lens for me is not weight but feel so I use the 90 and the 50mm the most.
Thanks Justin! That's super interesting, why is the 250 so much heavier! Is it the K/L version? The go-too is indeed not the weight haha, only when I'm scared of bent rails lol! I use my 90mm and 50mm the most too actually
@@willysheepskin no its not a kl
Perpetually perfect presentations! I always look forward to the next. Love that hat!
Thanks so much! Always have so much fun haha! Thanks so much for stopping by once more, and glad you like the hat!
Soon there will be a #dawnpatrolsquad and I’ll be the chief. Love you willy. All the best for “buymeacoffee”. ✌🏻❤️
I hereby dub thee chief of the #dawnpatrolsquad, because you are the only person that has requested the position lol! Cheers Sreeku!
Your videos are so lovely! I send you love from Mexico!
Thanks so much Emmanuel! Love back to Mexico!
I’m here for the appreciation of this legendary hat 🧢
Very entertaining video as always Will 😁
Ahah cheers Mathieu! Hopefully I get to take it on more legendary adventures and increase its notoriety!
Thanks for the video.
I do not really need a 360mm, 500mm, or 37mm fisheye for my Mamiya RB67. However, if I ever see one for a low price, I will buy it.
Wicked video! So stoked the hat finally got to you and happy you started a buy me a coffee! #sheepsquadsignaturehat
Cheers Asher! I am maximum level stoke, and very glad to have a buymeacoffee up now as per your advice haha!
I think he sleeps in that hat now.. ..
Once again, another banger bru!🤙🏽 David, we need you to give Will more things to try out, it's fire content😂🔥
Cheers AJ! David's got a bunch of goodies he want's me to try out I just need to get my act together ahah!
ALLWAYSSS BLOW MY MIND!!!
Keep up ur vids ma G 🤌
Cheers homie! I surely shall!
Great shakedown on this lens William. I especially appreciate the side by side views of the different lenses often compared to it AND weighing 360/250. That was a particularly helpful visual. I do have one question, about metering, on the skyline shots. Did you meter the sky and city and split the difference? Reflected metering? Honestly like to you know. That can be a tricky situation 🤷🏽♂️. Thanks again!!!!!!
Cheers Justin! Glad you found the comparisons useful! On the metering front, when it comes to metering big scenes like that I kind of guesstimate exposure based on what feels right. I did meter directly for the city as best I could without a spot meter though, I knew the sky wasn't going to blow out even if I metered for the shadows because of how dim the light still was and how great Portra is! Thanks again to you for stopping by!
@@willysheepskin Thanks for the explanation! 😀
Your reputation has started preceding you. ;)
Very nice analysis and comparison of alternatives. Thanks.
One thing about the weight comparison: how much more front heavy is the 360mm than the 250mm? I don't think it will make a huge difference considering how close they are in overall weight and size, but I'd wager that the 360mm carries a lot of its weight towards the front and that may be what motivated Mamiya to release a support bracket for it.
Ahah cheers Ben!
It actually felt decently heavier towards the back than the front, from what I can tell the bracket was an optional extra for when one wanted peak stability when using the lens as opposed to being necessary to prevent damage
@@willysheepskin That makes a lot of sense. These are the things you can't know until you actually hold something in your hands, and why your videos are so useful.
:)
dude hell yeah!
Whoop whoop!
How do you not drink cofffffeeeee ?? . Hope you get lots of film support . Awesome content as always ♥
Ahah it makes me bounce off the walls! And thank you, glad you continually enjoy things!
Willy in the Mamiya crown… Our Sekor Sovereign…
Ohhh I like that ahahah, I'll claim the title once I've tried every single lens I reckon, at this point I think its only the 180mm and the 100-200 zoom that I've never shot. Future aspirations for the crown!
@@willysheepskin there is also a quiet rare 75mm 3.5 kl with very little information out there
@@jazper4518 I’ll be on the lookout!
Thank you, Will. You always make interesting videos, imo. Is there any other obscure camera/lens combo you want to try out?
Thanks Fernando! Always lovely to see a comment from you! There are quite a few obscure things I'm keen to try out still, gonna keep them on the down low until I've confirmed I can actually use them though haha!
Amazing hat Will :)
Thanks Ryan! It's my new favorite haha!
okay. so weighing both lenses and seeing that they don't differ much in mass is not the entire story. It is the torque that counts, meaning mass multiplied by distance. There is a difference in length, so a difference in the distence of the center of gravity of the lens to the camera body. As you will remember from sitting in the middle or at the end of a seesaw, this distance matters a lot.
Ah interesting insight! Most of the weight on the 360 seemed to sit at the back of the lens rather than the front though whereas the 250 feels even throughout, the 360 is also only marginally longer than the 250 too, it didn’t really feel dangerous at any point. Cheers Andre!
You have me wanting to buy all of these lenses for my RB. Can we start a Buymeacoffee but to getwilliamtoshootinamerica?
Heyyy that sounds like a cool idea actually!
I actually stumbled upon that forum post a while ago and felt like the poster was a bit too dramatical about the impact on the rails, but I'm still wondering if the 100-200 sekor Zoom will damage the mamiya, it's extremely heavy but since it has it's focusing ring on the lens and doesn't need to be bellow-focused, I feel like it shouldn't be a problem since the bellows aren't extended, do you know anything about that? Btw nice video!
I do love that hat and will have to figure out how to get one. The 360 is a great looking lens and I love the portraits you took with it even though I'm more of a landscape guy. The extra working distance with the 360 could come in handy but I'm wondering were you both in the same time zone? It sure looked like you were way outside while he was just inside in those first couple of shots. Also how do you differentiate between the older and newer versions of the 360
Ahaha we were barely in the same time zone! Glad you like the portraits Bob, I was about 4.5 meters away for the first one and the close crop was pretty much exactly 4 meters to test the minimum focus of the lens, the focus is actually thrown onto his farther back eye because I got a bit too close! The oldest RB67 lenses tend to have that fluted shape, and will be labeled Sekor instead of Sekor C on the lens lip, with the 360 I think the Sekor and Sekor C are the same shape but the C will have a green C next to the Sekor marking on the lip. I think the K/L version is a 350mm instead of 360mm, but it definitely doesn't have that classic fluted shape!
I like your Mamiya hat
I do too! Cheers Andrew!
How about the 500mm with the 2 times adapter "Hmmmmm"
Ahah it's in the works! Going to compare it to something else interesting so should be fun!
Bro where'd you get that hat. Its so saucey
Hello William, I currently have a RB67 but am finding that it might not be for me. So I'm interested in the Mamiya 645 due to the cheaper overall cost and other features. Would you say the 645 is a nice camera to use? In terms of ergonomics mostly, and other noteworthy differences.
The 645 is very nice! I really enjoy it ergonomically, I'd get one of the later models with interchangeable backs like a pro/pro tl cus' being able to switch backs is a really great feature that I missed on my older 645 when I had it.
Well, if you put the lenshood on it is pretty much even bigger than the 500mm, as the lenshood almost doubles the length of the 360mm :D
What is the hard case you’re using? I’m testing with the 100-200/5.2 w/ bracket. I didn’t trust not using it. I’m planning on the 250 & 360 as well & for the same lens support bracket.
3:53 did you dip your sekonic into red paint or what de hell is that
Ahahah ltd. edition 60th anniversary one that I got for free when I bought my strobes a couple years ago!
Buy Maya a coffee
Fine but then you're paying for petrol muahaha
I see you specifically instructed Jono to go barefoot as to satiate Reddit's desire for toes!
Ahaha you already know! If there’s the potential for toes they must be provided to please the redditors
Nice Video, Nice Hat. Tirando facha.
Cheers Alfredo! Glad you like the style ahah!
Hi Will, i would like to buy a grip for my RB67 but they are so expensive! Which one would you recommend? The version designed for the M645 is a lot cheaper but i am confused if it will hold my RB67 and if there will be enough space between the RB and my hand. What would you recommend?
Ahoy! I reckon the RB specific one is probably best unfortunately, the RB has two slots for pins in the body to the sides of the tripod mount where most gear designed to sit securely in it will have pins that slot in. If you use a M645 one it probably wouldn't have those pins would be thinner and thus wouldn't be very secure, and I'm also not sure that there would be enough space. An alternative grip strategy might be to get a Metz like flash with a handle, they can be cheaper than proper RB gribs and are robust enough to hold things in place decently even without the pins!
@@willysheepskin Thanks a lot Will, I really appreciate it.
How do you get a film for 5 moneys?!
Haha they add up!
Hey Will, how do you accurately meter for the RB67 wide open using your light meter since f/3.8 is pretty non-standard
I just treat the meter reading for f/4 as the same as f/3.8! The difference is negligible, and slight overexposure is better anyway haha!
@@willysheepskin Thanks William you're the best :)
WILLY
PAIN
Bit late to the game, but what about the 500mm with the 2x adapter? Get that fat one metre focal length
Long boy for the longest boy :-)
No ur the longest boy, and gonna be on the longest flight soon for a long African adventure I hope! xoxo
paragliding with 360mm soon? lol
Ahaha it'd probably be somewhat more manageable than the 500mm but still too much to take up there, maybe on a microlight or something though lol!
I have the 250mm and I thought “my god this thing is HUGE”, then I see a video saying that a 360 exists so I went looking for that and this video says ‘second biggest” and I’m like SECOND!? How big does it go…oh my god there’s a 500. It looks like a missile launcher. Dear god that thing must weigh 20 lbs. Anyway, off to watch that video now…
fuc ya ill buy you a roll dude
Ahh cheers Greg! Much appreciated!
I wish you didn't use that black cloth, so that we could see the background, the DoF, etc... :(
