Great work on this. I definitely second everything you say about 'The Quiet Man'. They certainly don't make them like that anymore, or like many of John Wayne's movies. More's the pity!
Hi Jon- Quick question. Do we know who did the beach cliff jump in the 1948, Gene Kelly film “The Three Musketeers”? I’m sure Kelly could have done it but my gut instinct says he had a double. Any thoughts?
The obvious thing about John Wayne's punches was they were virtually all telegraphed and his opponents apparently didn't see them coming from 10 minutes away. Mind you they were nearly always drunk, and hey, we're criticising the greatest, most watchable actor there's ever been. Even when his wig comes off in North to Alaska.
Jon, after following up on your name “Dave Sharpe” … my research lead on to “Russell Saunders”. I’m fairly confident that it appears Russell Saunders did that cliff jump. Incredible work.

I used to watch The Quiet Man with my dear old mum. It was her favourite John Wayne film... she had good taste in films, it's a belter.

How do you find out who does the stunt doubling ? , I like to watch the credits to see if it tells you who doubles the actors
