Wear what you want. Defining yourself by some kind of "age-specific" garment just stifles your vibe. I agree with suiting your build to your jacket. Rock that duster and cowboy hat if you wear it though and don't look back.

I bought a cool leather jacket about 40 years ago, it wasn't cheap and I wore it for about 10 years or so then I put it away and forgot about it. Then around 25 years later I rediscovered it and it still looks cool, yes it's a little tighter (must have shrunk, ha ha) but still looks good, I like to wear it when out in our Mazda MX5 (Miata) during the summer.

When I was in between 19-20 years old. I had this leather trench coat, and I just barely got this jacket. One night it was raining in my neighborhood, the City of Colton, CA. I was riding my bike to get back home and I started riding this street that has a downhill slope. My front rim gave out and I flew over the handle bars. So when I landed I rolled with it, and stood straight up, ninja, all in one motion. It was DOPE, too bad it was in the middle of the night so nobody seen it. It was pouring on me and all I keep thinking about was,"my jacket, dam I just got it" I thought it had ripped during the fall. I took a deep breath, took off my jacket, flipped it to the back, not even a scratch. I was so happy, picked up my bike and rolled out. Never had a leather jacket before or after.

Getting rid of that excess body fat that makes dressing hard is very important and could massively improve quality of life. Especially over the long term.

Loved the video and like your approach on tactfully saying if you like this style or not when really it is only going to appeal to a niche market. The older I get (just hit 52) that I am going more bohemian, seems to suit my lifestyle and working from home too plus I am caring less and less what people think and dressing for me and me alone. So now I am on the look out for a black leather cafe racer style jacket.

I agree with most of these except for the Varsity Jacket... I think it depends on the color scheme and cut of the jacket. For instance, Rag and Bone makes a black leather and wool varsity jacket that looks great, with blended cuffs and hems. It definitely projects a younger feel, but if you feel and look younger as a 30-40 year old, then go for it! You'll look great!

    • @bighands69

It depends on how they are worn. If they are worn around sporting events or to the gym it is fine and will look the part. Wearing it to the cinema or shopping is not exactly a good look. Again it depends on how and who wear them.

When he says motorcycle jackets look functional you need to realize they are probably quite thick leather and if you don’t ride you may find it too thick.

I would like to add some thoughts here. I bought my leather jacket twenty years ago, and it is still going strong, but I have taken care. The buddy whose shop I bought it at complained that I have taken too good of care of it, as I do not need to replace. The lining has wore out, and does need to be replaced, though. A quality leather jacket is something that will be part of your wardrobe for years, so take the time to research your purchase.

Find a jacket that fits your style. Only you know what you want to express visually. "Trend" is dictated by the industry. Some items you will end up getting rid of, but you will hold onto others as you develop your style, which develops over time. When successful, your style becomes timeless.

Thank you, much! I’m 34 and just bought the Satchel and Page bomber. I like it, but I’m debating between the large and the medium. I feel like the large has a bit too much space in the shoulders...it overlaps my shoulders a bit, but the medium is too tight in the shoulders. I’m working out, and a aside from hopefully muscle gains, am also gaining the natural extra weight from being over 30, haha, so I’m leaning toward the large. Anyone with a similar experience or advice?
Would also love to hear if anyone has that jacket or their thoughts on it as I don’t see a lot of reviews for it. I’m looking at that one, and I also like the Cockpit USA Bomber, though it’s a bit more expensive and I didn’t serve in the military, so I don’t want to look like a “poser”. (I greatly respect the military, but it feels odd to wear a jacket that is an “exact replica” if I didn’t actually serve).

Haha...yeah, I have my High School Letter jacket hanging in my closet. I will never let it go, because it is a part of my history. But I haven't worn it out of the house since I graduated High School because...wearing it a day after your HS Graduation is a statement that says "I peaked at 17."

I love my moto/cafe racer jacket, though I am concerned how it will look as I get older. I'm going to be 34 this year. It's not something I am worried about today but it's a quality jacket I it will still look good in 15 years but will it still look good on me?

Hey Antonio, great content as always huge fan I wish you the best with the suade jacket like you are starting. I have a question md wanted to see if you can give me your insight, I recently lost 27 pounds of weight and im proud of it however I went to buy a leather jacket recently and it fits on the shoulder but since I lost alot of weight I feel it a little loose in the mis section. When I bought it I tried on a médium jacket and it was too tight when I zippered it up and I felt it tight in the shoulder so I went with a Large one. I know you always say that if it fits ok the shoulder that is the most importante thing do you think its ok even if it looks a little loose in the nid section mostly where I used to have my belly lol. Best wish es and happy holidays.

Went to a thrift store in Chicago a few years back and found a double rider motorcycle jacket for only 100$. (Looked up online, and it turns out that they go for 200$, so yay). It quickly became my favorite style of leather jacket. Bomber jackets are a close second, tho. Hope I can find one in a thrift store.

In my opinion leather Biker Jackets work for men of all ages. Just look at Jeff Goldblum, his biker jackets make him look younger than he really is and not in a bad way.

    This is an excellent video.
I have never had a leather jacket that fit me well and pretty much every time I have owned a leather jacket, it pretty quickly ended up hiding away in my closet.
I think the one thing really missing here is maybe a newer category. What about an older guy who is in good shape?
I'm meeting more and more guys in their late 30s, through early 50s who have been working on strength and fitness and are carrying a lot of muscle. Lots of these guys are in trt and getting back in the gym, sometimes seriously.
I myself am sitting at around 250lb at 5 foot 9 and had a little bit of competition with a friend of mine back in Canada as we were tied for the national deadlift record in the same age and weight class, although I am living overseas and was never competing against him directly. I am definitely a hard endomorph body type. Body type is probably a cross between Joe Rogan and Derek of more plates more dates... I'm not as big as Derek, but bigger than Rogan.
I'm looking more like a guy in my late 30s since I'm taking care of myself a lot better and I look younger now than when I was 35. I'm also built rather like a brick shithouse. 49 inch chest, boulder shoulders, thick lats, "kinda sorta 6-pack" power belly means my waist measurement is around 40, but visible abs and solid. I typically wear sporting clothes and tight t shirts, which usually work for me pretty well.
I need form fitting and good garment shaping because the power belly is very easy to look like fat, especially with loose clothing, although the fat layer is less than 1cm thick at the thickest... I don't want to buy a jacket that makes me look like I'm fat after all that work...
I have been shopping for a nice jacket and I want something form fitting that works with a muscular build, but I can't find anything.
The biggest problem I have at this point is style.
I drive a mid sized "executive style" scooter and I get around pretty quick, so the functionality of blocking wind is valuable to me. Visually (regardless how it looks on me), I find the full crossover to be most appealing, with a minimalist look. I don't need pockets, but a nice double layer in the front in case of rain and a long drive in the elements is appealing.
Waterproofing is important too, so I'm not 100% sure leather is the answer. I have rain gear, but I'd like something that I can wear even if it might rain, but looks good and is comfortable even if it doesn't. Getting something longer sounds good too and for colder weather, I have a 3/4 length black cashmere coat.
I'm in Asia, so it's basically impossible to just walk into a store and try stuff on.
I would live some advice. Got a bonus coming up soon and wouldn't be adverse to dropping a few bills on a wardrobe upgrade. I don't want to get something I won't wear though.

I am a rider and a aviator so my list goes 1. double rider first it is a classic and shows off your V. 2.. Bomber again a classic must be worn with aviator glasses Lol. 3. The utility I had one in black with a waist belt. 4. the cafe rider. 5. The duster it was the 90s and I was going through a phase. I had a brown one with a matching leather cowboy hat and matching brown strap boots.

i've always wanted to get a leather jacket one that I can wear for when i'm dressing Casual or dressing up, it's more about saving up for a good quality one, cause ive seen some jackets around but low price like $70 but I know its not a good idea to get those ones. plus im 21 this year so I want something that will always be stylish, cause I don't keep up with everything fashion wise.
