    FYI in some states you can designate your truck to be 26,000 pounds when you register it even know it could be rated for 40,000 pounds. Some people do this to save on registration and also to legally drive it with out a cdl. PROBLEM DOT goes by the manufacturer rated weight capacity NOT what you rate it as so you still need a cdl in those cases. It also applies if you add weight carrying capacity if you put more springs in so you can haul 10 tons but truck is rated for 5 tons you are now overloaded regardless of what the truck can handle.

    • @rollingops
      @rollingops  2 месяца назад

      @kenpaige990 I believe this is all very accurate! From my knowledge base, at least.
      A lot of guys try to buy 32k gvwr trucks FROM THE DEALER, then register them at 26k to avoid cdl. But the only way to truly do that is to have the manufacturer build you a 32k gvwr truck and then derate it from the factory back to 26k.
      If you get really lucky, you can find some of those trucks used occasionally.

    looks good. JW why not a hook lift?

    • @rollingops
      @rollingops  2 месяца назад

      Started with maxxd, decided to grow with them, and utilized my existing equipment. My customer doesn't care what my dumpster manufacturing rail size is. So I don't see a need to start all over, double my investment and overhead (hooklift trucks of this same size are significantly more expensive, and I would need more than one of them to keep up with demand. While I already have a truck and trailer still). I'd also be starting over again in a more expensive market. Everything is higher in price than when I bought the cans and equipment I already own. Only to charge the customer the same amount in price!
      That's just my personal opinion, but I'm sure others feel differently.
      I am currently trying to make sure that more money is being made than spent! And I don't see any reason big enough to switch.
      I have talked to many guys about when they made the switch to hooklift, and when I'd ask, "Show me where this made you more money" - I never could get a good enough answer. People would justify it with some things, which I understand. But no one could show me on paper where they were able to 2x their revenue. Some have even admitted they never factored in some of the additional expenses that ended up coming in to play with a hooklift.
      There are definitely benefits to hook, and I think they are very cool. But there are great benefits to this style as well!
      Long story short! I just like Maxxds design, and they work well for me. So I plan to continue with them. Totally preference.

    • @rollingops

      @danthompson1467 it is within the legal limit at around the 5 ton mark. Luckily with typically hauling residential dumpsters, 90% of our dumpsters are 1 ton or less.

      Maxxds rig is very overbuilt for the setup this is on.
      People all over the country run under cdl setups and make plenty of money doing so in the waste industry. And many other industries for that matter.
