That customer buying the corkscrew swivels is capt john duffie of the “billfisher”. He is one of the best marlin captains in the world. I’m surprised you didn’t know who it was
I really like how you have listed all of your gear/ hardware. If anyone was interested in doing this you really helped them out. Also I love seeing anglers catch big fish, but have never gotten the opportunity to go deep sea fishing.
That fella buying the large corkscrew swivels is the Capt of the "BILLFISHER"...out of Ocean City, MD and the "Agitator" our of Los Suenos CR. Very accomplished, successful Capt.
Wow yes I live in Maryland and I could've sworn I had fished with him but this was shot in Florida. Great Captain and hell of a dude in general had a blast on the Billfisher a few years back.
Man this takes me back to spooling reels. I used a tool to guide the line by hand, so thats interesting he does it with gloves. And then a towel to keep tight pressure on the spool.
Hey Josh, make a trip over to Naples, FL sometime. Great for everything- freshwater, saltwater, brackish. PB bass 7-8lbs off a great secret golf course spot. PB sharks- 11ft hammer and 12ft tiger both from the beach! Would love to do some fishing with you and learn a few things so let me know!
Carlos Carrasquillo you lucky guy! Here in Germany it gives just european catfishes they can be 2,5 m and 140 kg in just ever bigger river. But game fishing in solutaria in italy on big bluefin tuna over 500 kg is the max. in europe.
I am from costa rica my biggest mahi is a 20-25 pounder big mahi are rare but not imposible. I recently caught a 100lb tuna. You should come some day on the billfish season (January- February)
Im marty and I really like that shimano tiagra 130 because ive always been a really big phan of big game trolling reels and that looks like the tipe of reel that I would want right there.
I've never fished in my entire life before, however, I'm pretty curious about something. How much force or pressure would be needed to cause that line to break?
So explain to me how a 4-600pound fish is caught on that!? That’s conservative weight, I just caught a 200lb white sturgeon on 60lb! Fluid drag is different that mechanical shear force. That clutch is only 100lbs! ;)
EbkTillTheDay it is because of the amount of resistance the fish creates dragging through the water. Say an 800 pound tuna would only create probably 80 pounds of resistance going through the water. you are not dead lifting the fish. Its like how you can push a car by hand but could not dead lift and carry it around
If you've been spooled before on tiagra 80s, then you're not that experienced. I've caught a 450 pound swordfish on a tld 50. And I've caught 220 pound tuna on shimano tld 25s with 50 pound braid. And my friend caught a 920 pound mako shark on a penn senator 12/0 with 800 yards of 80 pound mono.
Bonefish one of my dream fish and permit the only 2 fl inshore fish I haven't caught even thou permits natural habitat is offshore on wrecks and rockpiles but as u know they like to go on the flats and beaches and passes
Pretty sure those are "braid ready". Meaning there is a little nubby to tie the braid to so slippage could never happen. So putting the tape on there is like buying low octane gas then putting octane booster in.
As a freshwater fisherman that doesn't know much about saltwater fishing, can you tell me why these large reels do not have a levelwind on them? I've never understood the reason for that. Thanks.
With the pure force of presser caused buy hug fish, it would break a levelwind, or at the very least pull on it so hard from one side, which would cause it to bend or bind up.. Peace!
I've tried all sorts of bearings but on basically every conventional reel I've found Boca Abec 7 ceramics are the best I've found. I've switched them into Avet SX's up to Avet EXW 50/2's and they are great. Can cast a 50 wide with those bearings!

Should've seen the smile when he caught 57 white ones.
Scotty Pierce at sunset marina
Wow yes I live in Maryland and I could've sworn I had fished with him but this was shot in Florida. Great Captain and hell of a dude in general had a blast on the Billfisher a few years back.
Yeah. That is capt john duffie
Man this takes me back to spooling reels. I used a tool to guide the line by hand, so thats interesting he does it with gloves. And then a towel to keep tight pressure on the spool.
Nope he doesnt do pressure with his hands....machine does it, he wears gloves and uses a towel because his hand would be burning lol
That splice technique is really amazing.
bluegill challenge with the 130
thomas watson yes
thomas watson that is going to be hard but i think he needs to acept the Challenge
twisty twisty
thomas watson yes
It would be near impossible to catch ANY fish under 30 lbs on that
Anyone else find these Spooling Reels satisfying? I watched like 50+ videos of people just spooling their reels, it's quite satisfying
I do too but its fun when the line is going the other way
You need a root!
Golden Cuddles hell yeah it’s satisfying 😂😂 people don’t know what their talking about😂
Golden Cuddles it just looks so clean
Love it I some times just switch from reel to reel just to be satisfied
The customer couldn’t stand the guy with the camera :)
who likes a guy talking to his camera?
The man doing the long splice should get a channel all on alone he has more knowledge to impart.
You should do a small fish challenge with the giant reel. Try catching redfish or trout or something. Or even pinfish
Z-Zone Fishing that sounds cool
no it don't because it can hurt the fish
True
Robert Thanel how so?
Z-Zone Fishing nice idea
Me *this looks really fun I'll try it*
I see the prices
Me *mabye when i become retired*
there goes your retirement
@@mileshardin6906 LOLLL
Man we love you Josh please get better we missed your fishing
Maryland. And I am here watching now. Love fishing
dang i cant imagine the days before there where reel spooling machines.
Corrrrrrect!

Where do you go for bass out of curiosity? I’ve never actually found a good bass spot.
With those Reels you end up going Beast Mode 🐳🐋🎣💪
Cameras don’t do these 130s justice showing their size. Things are truly massive
You should seriously try come fishing in South Africa!!! It would be great to see you here. Lots of fun fish, especially the Tigers.
Shimano should be more in consistence with their product names. The tiagra for bikes is a middlerange product, but this reel is upperclass I guess.
Thanks this was very educational
Greetings from Puerto Rico!

You should do a tour of that place
hey blacktiph My name is CJ just wanna say you got a awesome channel and your a great inspiration for all of us fishermen

Nice bluegill setup
Great idea
Such a down to earth guy. Love your videos! Be safe during the hurricane!
thats john duffie . good guy. fishes out of ocean city, maryland. one of the best marlin captains in the world.
braid to braid is a great splice! with hollowbraid its like one line and you can change the diameter to thicker line on the top
I am from costa rica my biggest mahi is a 20-25 pounder big mahi are rare but not imposible. I recently caught a 100lb tuna. You should come some day on the billfish season (January- February)
SWEET INFO THANKS GUYS
Im marty and I really like that shimano tiagra 130 because ive always been a really big phan of big game trolling reels and that looks like the tipe of reel that I would want right there.
Are these the best of the best reels???
Josh, do you have a patron account. Dude give so many valuable tips, I would absolutely sponsor you account.
Unit to uni knots work really well for connecting lines... the knot is stronger than the line and never breaks
Pittsburgh🤘💛💛🤘 can't wait to buy one of your shark rods! Trying to get a boat. Everything is a mess
I love your Channel and your fishing
The splicing was very cool
God, turn the clicker off... I’m over here worried about turning it off when I reel in and you’re there spooling the entire reel with it on lol
Amen
Y’all have clearly never heard the clicker on these things… 😂
The clicker is off..
This dude is a know it all 😂
That is one heck of a real
doesn't splicing keeps 100% of the braids strength?
it sure does
At 9:05 that is capt john duffie!!he is the best white marlin captain. He is well known
Great for sharing.. Just to add , I prefer a thin copper wire which is hard enough to do this task...
Some seriously skilled fisher man that.....
Perfect for tiny minnows
wow that guy knows what he is doing. impressed
I've never fished in my entire life before, however, I'm pretty curious about something. How much force or pressure would be needed to cause that line to break?
Chrisonix about 1200 pounds
well its 200 lb test whic means its tested to hold 200
So explain to me how a 4-600pound fish is caught on that!? That’s conservative weight, I just caught a 200lb white sturgeon on 60lb! Fluid drag is different that mechanical shear force. That clutch is only 100lbs! ;)

I hope some day you see that blue joiner knot fly by you as the fish is taking line!
You should go great white fishing😂
Cooper Roberts I think it's illegal to fish specifically for great white
That would be cool to see tho
Cooper Roberts I have the same reels there big but not that big
UsBassin it's legal
It is 100% Illegal to fish for Great White Sharks.
from what I've read on the FWC it is only illegal to harvest great whites, no where did it say anything about targeting them
THATS REALLY CRAZY NEVER SEEN THAT DONE THAT WAS CRAZY KOOL REALLY WTG BOSS NICE JOB LOVE IT ......
You should do a big bass fishing in Louisiana and I live in Louisiana.
Wish I lived closer to the gulf coast, I'd try to fish every day. Freshwater fishing is enjoyable but saltwater is where it's at.
Bullion Forever I live 10 miles from there I guess I'm lucky
It'll ruin you on freshwater fishing.
Jacob D I've always enjoyed the freshwater more I guess it's just prettier in my area
I'm William hancock I like to fish a lot I love your show
Watching from Port Saint Lucie
Yeah can't wait for you to fish my island pei.
You rock man
I love how dudes face lit up after you asked him what's the biggest marlin hes ever caught hahaha I'm guessing it was BIIIG

Who told you that mono breaks after it's been stretched?? But if your thing is shark fishing then I know the type!!!
Says the guy holding a dink of a fish in his profile pic
I think that's What I need. does Wal-Mart carry that reel?
Taylor Martin online they do
Taylor Martin no but I saw them at Publix
Taylor Martin yes
No
U for reel?
Pretty sure those are "braid ready". Meaning there is a little nubby to tie the braid to so slippage could never happen. So putting the tape on there is like buying low octane gas then putting octane booster in.
That looks crazy , but I’m going to try it .
First of all monoline my dad as 150 lb mono line on his deep sea real and he has been using the same line for 20 years and it still hasn't popped
South Carolina hey man your a fish catching machine hoorah
You always know when someone from the south gets on. SO WHATS YOURE BIGGEST BASS BO! Lol! Trust me iam from Georgia i know!
**AMAZING SPLICING**
Lots of fish here josh
for big game fishing for sharks, tuna and marlin is it best to use 130 size reel or a 80 size reel.
Raymund Turner for big tunas use a 130 as a 100 lb tuna will bull 600 yards on its first run
greetings come again from Indonesia senior to listen
you guys should try blue marlin fishing it would be epic if you get one
or dropping deep for swords
Look up day time sword fish on the channel
That a huge reel.
Im here....San Antonio Texas!
As a freshwater fisherman that doesn't know much about saltwater fishing, can you tell me why these large reels do not have a levelwind on them? I've never understood the reason for that. Thanks.
P.S. That splice was interesting. I've never seen anything like that. I'm from Minnesota.
Got more line on the reel, and it doesn't get in the way, less stuff to break or bend.
@1guy fishing: Thanks for the information
MsPrincesspaulina s
With the pure force of presser caused buy hug fish, it would break a levelwind, or at the very least pull on it so hard from one side, which would cause it to bend or bind up.. Peace!
That is awesome what you do wish I could go fishing with you
hello from Huntington wv
Ha! I grew up in Chesapeake
What are you going to do with your old duels?
Sound like one heck of a beach fisherman
This SPLICING = A WONDERFUL INNOVATION = **CHINESE HANDCUFFS**
You should seend the reels to team hard life they do the best spooling
TX & MO!!!
What bearing do you use? Ive been using Boca Bearings but looking for more options.
I've tried all sorts of bearings but on basically every conventional reel I've found Boca Abec 7 ceramics are the best I've found. I've switched them into Avet SX's up to Avet EXW 50/2's and they are great. Can cast a 50 wide with those bearings!
Those aren't as big as they get. An everol 20/0 is
I like these a lot to be honest!
Lots of line there!
Watching from Taiwan
THATS A GIIIIANT REEL BRO hahaha cheers
i'm from South Africa
going after the big boyz
You should do a fresh water challenge
I still remember watching this video live long ago ❤️

damn! those are big boys, aint no shark gonna break from that reel
Very very good,Joss brother I like your video
like the gear
You are that guy everyone hates to see come in . The annoying know it all but has a pro doing the work for you
What do you think about splicing for freshwater bass applications?
The way you floss is known as a French whipping in the rope world
