I found a like new XTERRA 705 for 200 but didn't find great reviews. Seen Equinox 600 for a bit more with better reviews but still not great. I know both are Minelab, I'm not stuck on any brand just want the best for what I have to spend and not waste money. I'm in the Central California Valley & hope to "nugget hunt" but plan to "treasure hunt" also when I don't have the time to get in the hills. Thanks & good luck this year!

One is supposed to check online or call BLM to verify that an area is NOT claimed or active. Claim Jumping is a Federal Crime, it carries stiff penalties if convicted.
Yes. I’m a newbie, so I’m sure this is a stupid question. First of all I’m a fairly new member to the GPAA. I don’t really know anyone. I have panned areas in the Sierras off and on for over 20 yrs. I’ve never seen any kind of specific markings anywhere I’ve been, never been ran off, so with all that said, how do you know an area has a claim on it? I’m assuming they have to mark it clearly.

That 4500 better than the SDC and he’s got the good coil on it is it modified? Got to use headphones or won’t work especially with that river making noise what. Got to keep a stable your adjustments then don’t beat it up like the other detectors it will post right through everything so you can float it. It will charge up them big big deep nuggets

For doing both I'd look at the Minelab Equinox 800 Might be able to find a used one for a good price

Do you place signage stating an active mining claim ? If I saw a sign, I would move down stream until i saw no sign's 100 yards upstream.
