That happens because it's so ill-defined. Few people genuinely think that black lives don't matter. The problem is that when people say black lives matter, they mean a lot of different things which have a lot of different degrees of validity to them. It's the same with defund the police. It's way too short of a slogan to express any particularly meaningful position. We can't literally defund the police and expect any good to come of it, without doing other things like allocating that money to alternate ways of addressing the same problems and really doing that before the defunding. But, that isn't an automatic assumption that comes from the slogan and there are a few people who literally mean, defund the police and call it a day. (Admittedly that's fringe)
@@drippycity4135 it could mean you stand with the organization itself and all their beliefs. One issue with the BLM (Black Lives Matter) organization that I’ve heard from multiple people is that they are apparently against the idea of a nuclear family, which many people don’t like. That is the exact reason why my dad doesn’t like the BLM organization. It’s not that he dislikes black people, it’s that he hates how the organization is against the idea of a nuclear family or having a father figure in the family as he loves being a father in a nuclear family household. I’ve never looked into this myself because frankly, I just don’t care and I personally suck at research. I’ll let people think what they want of me based on my own actions, not me going out of my way to say Black Lives Matter whenever I get the chance.
A couple of people in one state started an "official" BLM group, ostensibly trying to organize, group together, and create a main power structure for Black Lives Matter activists. In truth, these people were both scam artists who stole as much as a few hundred thousand in donations by basically running a sham organization, after which both dissembled and fled. I don't know if they were caught or if anything was even held against them, but they gave BLM as a whole a bad reputation. A lot of people who talk about it being an organization, it being terrible, it being fraud, stuff like that, are unknowingly referring to this scam organization. True Black Lives Matter activists are just normal people, across this and other countries, who generally aren't involved with taking or spending money, much less spending it like that small organization did. All it did was money the waters and give haters ammunition, because they don't have to look very far or google very hard to find some kind of information they can abuse to pretend like everyone in this country is related to those two people and their sham organization.

Because people want to emphasise they are referring to the company not the phrase. And the problem is people are tricked into thinking they are the same. If I created a company called ‘protecting kids’ then started using money to buy mansions, violent protests, then when people complained, I said ‘ah so you’re against protecting kids’ It’s total B.S. you can agree with the statement that Black Lives Matter but be against the organisation.
I guarantee people are not trying to emphasize that they are not against the black lives matter movement as a whole, but the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation specifically. Most people don't even seem to be aware that such a lobbying organization (not a company) even exists. If that were the case, at least some of them would be willing to elaborate on why they disagree rather than refusing to engage in discussion. You absolutely can be against the actions of a particular group but not the overall movement, but you had better be prepared to explain and defend your position, especially when the general understanding of an acronym in common parlance differs from the implementation or meaning of that acronym as you understand it.
@@SlinkySphinx well it’s really not my to defend your position. The company has clearly and blatantly misused funds that were intended to help victims of racism. But even beyond that I challenge the premise of the entire movement on the basis of black people disproportionately being discriminated against by ‘white people’ For starters white people are not even at the top of the earnings pyramid, that would be Indians. In terms of violence, black on white violence is 10x greater than white on black. Sure you can cherry pick isolated incidents like George Floyd, but I can do the same for example ‘Lisa Edward’s’ a white woman who was having medical problems, was dragged out of hospital, and suffocated to death the back of a police car after saying ‘I can’t breathe’. Race baiting media outlets will paint white people as the devil, but it’s my honest opinion that discrimination affects everybody regardless of skin colour, and society is often looking for racism even where none exists.
Another group that gets the "don't say it" but in how they pronounce it is *Antifa.* It's always _Ant-tif-a_ not _Anti-fa_ as in _Anti-fascist._ It only works with speaking, but using the _Anti_ pronunciation can annoy them a bit, but using the full _Anti-fascist_ is always fun and can't be glossed over. 17 years have passed and I still have no clue how comments work on Twitter.
Yeah, especially since the screenshots in this video are from Facebook
The fact that people can say “black lives matter” like it’s a bad thing is trippy to me
The organization is
That happens because it's so ill-defined.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade question: what “lots of different things” can saying “black lives matter” mean?? Like I can only think of 2
@@drippycity4135 it could mean you stand with the organization itself and all their beliefs.

Ben, it has been such an awful time for so many reasons but these videos made my evening. Thank you so much for the smiles and laughter - you are clearly incredibly clever and witty. I hope you are taking care of your mental health as you take on these challenging comments.
Same sentiments. I also hope Ben takes care. Funny people, the really funny, clever ones like Ben aren't always laughing inside. I hope Ben has someone who makes him laugh daily.
Your deadpan responses are pure gold.
It's almost like saying "BLM is a terrorist group" would hurt you
Yeah duh, vid would've got demonetized

BLM stands for Big Luxury Mansions
Hi Ben! I’m digging the halo effect glowing behind your head. It’s much more complimentary to your complexion over the grey corpse tone lighting you used to use. 😜
lol - I have no idea what's going on with the editing. I try to make things look good but then there's certain things that just pop up like that lol :) Glad you're enjoying the halo Bex!
I'm confused, I always thought that BLM was in reference to Bald Ladies Mattress, they are SO COMFY.
That last lady acted like she was being asked “who was in Paris?”
Maybe if you said "We work with the Bureau of Land Management when constructing airports" it could annoy people better
This video just made my day, Ben you’re amazing 💪
Right the best shit ever!!
Thanks :)
Some black people dont seem to think so. Black on black crime has rocketed since they painted BLM on the street and cut funding for police they wanted defunded. Bring back law and order for Black lives to matter again.
@@sourcessay8295 yes them blacks sure do black it up sometimes. Do you understand what defunding the police means? You don't. I know you don't, or you wouldn't be making dumb shit comments.

They say blm cause there talking about the org not the sentiment. The company strategically named itself in such a way where you could never criticize them without sounding racist so people say BLM. It’s crazy how people can’t seem to wrap their head around this.
i hate the blm group but the sentiment is true
Seems weird then that they're not calling it BLMGNF which is the *actual* name of the organisation eh? Crazy how they choose to use the shorthand for the sentiment instead of the organisation, then point their fingers at the org when they're called out.
@@KangarooKommando is that even common knowledge? I dont even know what the rest of that stands for, no one uses that acronym.
Because the phrase “black lives matter” has a meaning in English apart from the organization of BLM. The use of the acronym clarifies this.
I work in natural resources and it’s so wired hearing people say blm referring to Black Lives Matter because that means bureau of land management
The lack of critical thinking in our country really, really makes me sad

The organization has literally built negative houses. 😂😢
I've always been anti-BLM. I'm especially upset with their policies against wild horses!
The British Broadcasting Company is jealous of how well endowed these horse breeding businesses have become .
Because people want to emphasise they are referring to the company not the phrase. And the problem is people are tricked into thinking they are the same.
If I created a company called ‘protecting kids’ then started using money to buy mansions, violent protests, then when people complained, I said ‘ah so you’re against protecting kids’
It’s total B.S. you can agree with the statement that Black Lives Matter but be against the organisation.
But even beyond that I challenge the premise of the entire movement on the basis of black people disproportionately being discriminated against by ‘white people’
For starters white people are not even at the top of the earnings pyramid, that would be Indians.
To be fair, the Bureau of Land Management is pretty shady.
Damn, I've been following your tiktok all summer. Sorry for taking so long to subscribe to your RUclips channel.

Another group that gets the "don't say it" but in how they pronounce it is *Antifa.*
It's always _Ant-tif-a_ not _Anti-fa_ as in _Anti-fascist._
It only works with speaking, but using the _Anti_ pronunciation can annoy them a bit, but using the full _Anti-fascist_ is always fun and can't be glossed over.
There's also asking if they support Profa?
But mentioning that Antifa was originally the Allied military in WW2 is great for triggering.

Not really... It's funny cause we all have middle school level humour too
honestly, I really oppose BLM's policy of letting loose free-roaming donkeys and horses, and I think nuclear energy (specifically thorium reactors) should be invested in rather than space-polluting wind turbines and solar farms. great way to start the day.
I think people just say BLM cause writing out Black Lives Matter is a lot, same with US, NFL etc.
It's because it makes it sound like the name of a specific group of people, rather than a phrase that is said by a lot of people who are unrelated to each other except for saying the same three words.

Or people just don't want to say black lives matter because they think their life doesn't matter.... for some reason.
