  • Abusing conjuration magic in DnD for some low level, BIG POWER shenanigans.
    Don't be un-chill with your DM if they don't allow this, although it works RAW, it breaks campaigns, and is an exploit of an ability that hasn't had proper rules clarification.

    FAQ: Is the Poisoner feat necessary? Not technically, but I think it’s reasonable to demand a lot of experience in poisons to pull this off, and taking that basically covers us in our backstory. Also, bypassing poison resistance is nice!
    Can minor conjuration even make poisons? Yes! It can make any non-magical, discrete item for one hour.
    Does the poison vanish? Yes. It only lasts one hour and disappears when it deals damage, however it deals damage before it vanishes, and the 12d6 is instant, so no worries there!
    This combo is maybe the most busted I’ve ever come up with. Don’t be angry with your DM if they ban it, as repeatable, free damage on this scale is totally game breaking at level 2. Purple Wurm poison is strong even at level 20, so use with caution, but if you use it on your DM, they might decide to use it on you!!

      I have a couple questions:
      Can you conjure rare materials (the equivalent of adamantite or mythral, or even Gold?). I admit, I would probably ask for 6d6 damage (half) because this is an imitation poison and is not the real thing. But that would still be awesome for that level.

      @@piotrandrzejhertel4046 The "0 gp" bit was in regard to the use of a Diamond as a material component, while the "magical facsimile" bit was in regard to the creation of a spellbook. If conjuring purple worm poison wouldn't allow the poison to deal damage because it's a magical facsimile, then the same could be said of any weapon conjured with minor conjuration. The most you could argue is that the item conjured would be "less efficient" than the original, but that's not a rules-as-written thing, that's specifically a "I think this is too strong" ruling on the DM's part. The combo works perfectly fine because: 1) The object being conjured is non-magical in origin (though it is a magical facsimile once conjured), 2) The object being conjured is no larger than 3ft on any given side, 3) The object being conjured is inanimate, and 4) The object being conjured weighs less than 10 pounds. Those stipulations are being met, and it does not matter if it has a gp value of 0, as that has no bearing on the functionality of the item being conjured. You'll notice that Jeremy Crawford didn't go on to mention what would happen with the key, as it is still a key and functions as such. This is still a poison, and functions as such.

It's pretty underwhelming, even if you go valor or swords bard, but it's a very unique build which would be fun in a lv11-12 or so one shot since you can multiclass into a class such as fighter for the archery fighting style and potentially action surge :)

    It takes an action to apply, and it vanishes as soon as it takes damage. That means you get a single strike with the poison instead of the usual 1 minute of poison. I think RAI is that it's a single solid object, not a potion or a poison, but that the Minor Conjuration ability is poorly worded.

  • @usernameed
    @usernameed 2 года назад +1

    This was actually asked in a FB group I’m in like yesterday. The wizard feature lets you conjure an object. The poison is an object, the vial is too so therefore you could either conjure one or the other. I'm pretty sure my DM would probably argue that even with the Criminal background, that your character would never have seen Purple Worm poison even on the black market. As he would probably consider that a "behind closed doors" type of poison as it would probably be a very rare, highly illegal, highly lucrative, and highly guarded item. So logic would follow that at level 1 or even 2, your character could never have even made the connections possible to even come close to seeing such a rare and valuable poison, let alone taken seriously enough by anyone who knew you were seeking it out. Or he'd probably rule for minor conjuration that you'd have to be fairly familiar with the item (i.e. spent a lot of time really 'solidifying' the item and its properties in your mind) before you could effectively recreate it. Or in other words, the more complex/sophisticated the item, the more familiar you have to be with it. Like you wouldn't be able to just freely recreate a clock because you saw one once. He'd probably argue your character has to actually know how a clock works before you could recreate a functional one. So I don't think he would consider "I saw it once before" as fair grounds to freely recreate some of the most powerful poisons in the game. Or he would just flat-out say you couldn't period.

    Couple of quick DM kludges to prevent this
    1. Errata purple wurm poison as inherently magical, having been produced by a monstrosity and having incredible potency that defies what mere chemistry can do.
    2. Errata the equipment entry to reduce the damage of purple worm poison applied to a human-sized weapon. The 12d6 damage represents the damage a large dose delivered by an intact stinger can deal, whereas the comparatively much smaller amount on a weapon might do one half to one quarter that much.
