      I tried the dinosaur one, used conjure fey tho. Turned one of my friends into a t rex. My dm ruled that my friend had the soft stats for the t rex so he was dumb. Had to use another spell to take control of the t rex which wasn't too fun for my friend who got his character hijacked so I used it to give him free use of his character back. It was kindof roundabout but we did kill hordes pf ooblex completely avoiding combat and were destroyed one of the 4 pillars needed ro destroyed to hill the ooblex king that was trying to turn himself into a god with just one t rex. To be fair, for the "Do you even lift bro?" you could add to it further by having a friend actually cast "enlarge/reduce" on you (the potion of growth requires no concentration and it gives the enlarge effect yeah but it doesn't specify that you can't further enlarge the target by casting the spell on them technically; it would be up to the DM's ruling)

    That "Inhumane Torch" with an invisiblity potion idea is looking really good as a mystery for a party to solve, like no one knows how these places are burning, no dragons are around and no fire elementals either, and the party needs to pay close attention to find out what's really happening.

    Fun fact about Horseshoes of Speed (possibly helping out the combo at 0:55), they say "While all four shoes are affixed to the hooves of a horse or similar creature, they increase the creature's walking speed by 30 feet." It says the hooves of a horse or *similar creature*, so JUST with those, you can have a base speed of 70 feet per round being a centaur. You'd lose the feline agility, but if you shape change into a centaur instead of a storm giant, you'd keep it.

      Onyx the cat has a base speed of 400ft as a cr0 best, so all druids can turn into it at level 2

    • @mal2ksc
      @mal2ksc 8 месяцев назад

      @@Somber_Knight Onyx the cat is specific to when the party is is a shrunken state, and its stats reflect this. 400 feet is not 400 actual feet, it's probably still only 30 or 40 feet but since the characters are mini, they scaled up the cat's speed rather than changing the mechanics of the entire encounter. Sure, you can change into a CR 0 housecat named Onyx. But you won't have 400 feet of movement.

    • @Somber_Knight
      @Somber_Knight 8 месяцев назад

      @@mal2ksc That's the opinion that most people have on Onyx, and I mostly agree with it. However, the context of the adventure only supports a RAI viewpoint. RAW, 400 ft of movement is 400 ft of movement, which implies that the party didn't actually shrink - everything else just got bigger.

    • @SolemnlySquid
      @SolemnlySquid 2 года назад +20

      Also keep in mind that there are stats for how far a spear can be thrown, regardless of the speed it's traveling. So you've got a hyper-sonic spear that poops out to a maximum of 60 feet and deals 1d6 non-magical piercing.

    • @vulpes133
      @vulpes133 2 года назад +8

      Yeah, if you're using the games rules to your advantage the rules still apply when the spear is in the hands of the last peasant and aren't suddenly flying hundreds of feet. It's only fair that the rules would apply the entire time and not just at the start.

    • @tattoodude8946

      @@teamchaos5101 I think most everyone gets that in math, 2x2x2 = x8, that's not the issue.
      Rather, in a lot of game-design, when several effects "double" something, you instead add up the multipliers, because otherwise constant "doubling" effects scale out of all reason. In fact, 5e already has several other specific rules that indicate this logic.

    • @mal2ksc
      @mal2ksc 8 месяцев назад

      @@Soren015 I'd even read "double" to "add one copy of itself". 2x2x2 doesn't equal 8, and it doesn't even equal six. I'd interpret it as original quantity + (copy of original quantity) + (copy of original quantity) + (copy of original quantity), resulting in a total multiplier of 4. But given all the other shenanigans going on, nerfing the multipliers won't be sufficient to stop this from working.

    You should have used quicklings I believe they are fey creatures that have something insane like a 120 foot walking speed. So, with all of that you end up with with a movement speed of around 8400 feet per round or roughly 950 to 960 miles per hour taking three dash actions in a single round. So if you want to break the sound barrier this is how you do it.

    • @NobodyDungeons
      @NobodyDungeons 2 года назад +8

      The sound barrier at ground level is around 700 to 750 miles per hour if I remember correctly. Although the sound barrier in the D&D universe is likely higher as the oxygen content is enough to sustain massive dragons and a tarrasque making the atmoshpere denser making it harder to break the sound barrier.

      Spike Growth is an amazing combo spell. Bring a Warlock: the Eldritch Blast cantrip with the right invocations can be used to push 10ft OR pull 10ft, at range, as long as one of the beams hits your intended victim.
      A particularly brave Barbarian with Extra Attack (level 5) can probably Rage, knock the victim prone (with advantage), grapple them (with advantage), then drag the prone body 20ft into the spikes... in the same turn. Horrifying.
      Battle Master Fighters can use the Pushing Attack maneuver if they hit a target, launching them 15ft if they're Large or smaller & fail a save. No melee restriction here, so a ranged Fighter could do this from 600ft with a longbow or by throwing a handaxe from 15ft away. The victim does get a save, though.
      The cantrip Lightning Lure works like Thorn Whip, iirc it's a 10ft pull with 15ft range. Still useful, and it can be accessed by Wizards and Eldritch Knights that don't get Thorn Whip.
      Crusher feat lets you force a creature to move 5ft in a direction of your choice, once per turn when you hit with a bludgeoning damage attack. Lots of ways to do this in melee, but a light hammer can be thrown to do it at range. It's completely RAW to move them TOWARDS you as well, so it's more versatile than a shove.
      Infestation cantrip, which Druids can use, forces 5ft of movement in a random direction on a failed Con save.

    There is a weird combo you can do in 5e with warding bond. Two casters each uast warding bind on each other, then if either one takes any amount of damage, they each die.
    I used this in adventures league to kill a player who was obviously cheating and also happened to be playing a character who was doing pretty evil things. 😈
    Tricked him into doing it, then waited for him to take damage. When he realized what happened he told the GM (who's game he was sort or ruining, by cheating) that I am not allowed to do that.
    The GM Responded by saying, the spells specify willing creature, meaning that he had already agreed to it. He was reduced to 0, ending the spell just before I died. The GM suggested that maybe he should spend time reading and memorizing the spells instead of memorizing the adventures. And bringing in characters which were obviously not officially leveled.

This allows the GM to make it up as they see fit, though as they will use it the most, this is the case anyway, but player trying to do something sneaky, he may say it is based on spell level, VM being 0 level, DC of 10 or 8.

    1:43 When you polymorph you lose racial abilities so remove the bonus from feline agility, equipment melds into your form so remove the bonus from the boots of speed, longstrider works as long as the chosen form is capable of casting the spell or you have a mage capable of casting the spell for you, you do NOT retain class features so remove all but your action dash unless the new stat block includes a bonus action dash. Mobile is technically as class feature as it is gained through the use of a ability score improvement which is a class feature so remove that as well. so your actual calculation is as follows: Storm giant (50)+ dash(50)+haste(50+50+50) as haste doubles your move speed and a dash does count towards move speed plus it allows for the additional action to be used on a dash so thats an additional 50 + longstrider(10+10) which would be doubled as well because of haste, so in conclusion your formula is 100+ 100+ 100+60=360 which is still faster than most things except a 20th lvl tabaxi monk using their class features and feline agility intact without any spells or items. so you can use the above build for the cost of a 9th lvl spell, a 3rd lvl spell, and a 1st lvl spell for about a minute but it is subpar and frankly a monk with the above build except of course a true polymorph spell and5lvls in barbarian could move a total of 2040ft in a turn. if they really wanted to really puts the above build to shame.

    5:00 - Gravity slam is great for dealing with a group of enemies but I was thinking if you have a BBEG that is size Huge or smaller. You could use Bigby's Hand to grapple(it has a +8 and advantage if the target is large or smaller) and drag them through the wall 6x under ideal circumstances. For basically 600d6 dmg, 6x con save vs petrification and 6x wis saves vs blinded. As I understand it, grappling is not a save but a check, so Legendary resistance wouldn't work and they would have to make so many saves against the petrification / blindness their legendary resistances would most likely get used up. If the 600d6 damage doesn't end up killing them.
    Going through the legendary monsters that are huge or smaller. It looks like you would have a fair shot at succeeding on grappling them.

    The permanent dragon form with clone thing won't work. Bc it IS a spell effect, it wont transfer to your new body. It's not your actual form, just the effects of a spell. It also removes permanent Bestow Curse effects and any other magical effect. Your old body was affected by the spell. Your new body wouldn't be.

    Some of those combo does work and are usefull in a campaign (reduce gnome who can fly using mage hand) or the poisonner/thief using minor conjuration to conjure purple worm poison
    But other will take SOOO much time (infinite simulacrum will require infinite 12 hours period, might be faster if you use the wish spell to copy simulacrum, but then you have an army of simulacrum without wish themself, till not a bad combo (except doesn't work in advanture league sicne they added a special rule against that)
    Other are just so ridiculous that they are useless. your tabaxi monk/barbarian true polymorphed into a giant ect... going at 3000+ft per rounds... when the last time you needed 3000 ft of movement in a single round of combat? if you need to speed to reach the next town over and warn the guard of the impending doom... why don't you just teleport? it's faster, lower level spell, and do not require a full build around the concept.
    Same with the 1200ft eldritch blast, how often do you need 1200ft range on your spell? most of my fight are within small cavern or dungeon room and the ennemies running away in a hall quickly turning a corner, with a maximum of 60ft distance between me and that corner. Even outdoor combat... how many time did you fought an ennemy in a battelfield with no hiding spot, nothing to block line of sight within 1200ft?
    all those requiring to use true polymorph... it's a 9th level spell, you are already broken as a 20th level charater.
    All those requiring "summon [something]" the DM chooses what creature are being summoned (you choose which CR) so if your DM is nice enought to give you 8 pixies or raptor or cow to allow your broken combo... that on him...
    Peasant rail gun is just ridiculous. in order for the rail gun to work, you need a DM who allows the use of real world physic to modifie the rule of the game by adding damage on an attack (a spear deal 1d6+str using half orc peasant that would be 1d6+1) if you want to add the damage require to kill a dragon and half a mountain you need to add physic calculation on the weapon.
    But at the same time, it require a DM who accept that law of physic do NOT modifie the rule of the game in such a way that those peasant can pass that spear throught the entire line within 6 seconds. You are asking to cherry pick when the law of real world physic appliesand when it does not.
    That tortle character with 30 AC... yeah sure gratz you got 30 AC... let see what Shell DEfense actually does:
    require your action, put your prone (so give advantage to all melee attack and disavantage to all range attack) speed =0 so you cannot move, disavantage on dexterity saving throws, no reaction, and require a bonus action to get out of the shell.
    So gratz on your 30 AC, my wizard friend lvl 1 will use burning hand to cook a delicious tortle soup, ignoring your 30 AC and taking advantage of your disavantage on dex saving throws.
    The stunned evil creature destroyed with amulet of pure good, also work if you are a diviner wizard with potent and rolled a low score on your dice... beware legendary resistance still applied... even with stunned creature
    You illusionary wall of smoke, also work with minor illusion but will protect only 1 ally (since it's only 5ft) bt doesn't require concentration.
    No cofee lock DO NOT WORK, IT'S RIDICULOUSLY WEAK "COMBO" just no! can we stop with the stupid cofee lock please? no matter how you build it compared to a full level sorcerer you are loosing versatility to gain marginal bonus. withotu counting tht you are loosing your HIT DICE recovery, you are loosing your higher spell slot (since warlock do not boot your spellcaster level). So unless your character took a full year sabatical doing nothing more then non stop short rest to gain infinite spell reserves... the combo is not worth it. Sure on paper explained in a 10 second video it look good, but if you actually start crafting it you quickly realise that the conversation of spell slot into sorcerer point back to spell slot is not an equivalent exchange, your level 1 spell give you 1 sorcerer point, but cost 2 to create. Warlock have a very small pool of spell per short rest (1 at level1, 2 from level 2 to 10, and if you take more then 10th warlock level you'l have level 4 sorcerer spell and wonT' be able to store all your sorcerer point gained via the combo)
    Elf long rest is still 8 hours long. Sleep is NOT is a long rest sleep is simply the activity people do the most often during a long rest. So your elf sleep for 4 hours, and then can do other thing during the remaining 4 hours (as long as it's non streneous) so he can prepare his spell for the next day, he can prepare breakfast for the party, he can stand watch etc... but he didn't regained his spell slot within 4 hours, still take a full 8 hours long rest, he simply do not sleep the full 8 hours

    • @Anschlagen
      @Anschlagen 2 года назад +1

      Coffee Sorcerer is cancelled by the optional rules, that every GM should use, for going without a long rest.
      24 hours without a long rest is a DC 10 con save to avoid exhaustion, every additional 24 hours adds 5 to the DC, so 3-4 days is instant fail, so maximum 10 days before you outright die.
      Also, short rests cannot be done while travelling, etc, so you only really get the time when the party long rests, so only about 8 short rests worth. Coffee Sorc can be powerful, but is not broken, GM just needs to know the rules.

    Polymorph limits the CR you can change into, to the creature's original CR or their level. So you need to be 8th level to polymorph into T-Rex even regardless of who (the caster or pixies) are casting the spell.

    "Gotta Go Fast"
    Remember you can only Spell Glyph at X level - where X is the level the Glyph of Warding was cast at, such as a 9th level GOW for a 9th level Shapechange.
    Spell Glyph. You can store a prepared spell of 3rd level or lower in the glyph by casting it as part of creating the glyph.
    Shapechange - 9th-level
    This does not work without an epic boon to have two 9th level spell slots.
    Also: Your DM has to rule that a Storm Giant body can feasibly make use of a Feline Agility trait, to get the flat double on top.

    Disciple of Life adds your spellcasting mod to any 1st level or higher spell you use to restore hitpoints to a creature. The spell, Goodberry, doesn't restore hitpoints, it creates up to 10 berries. Yes, the berries are created with the spell, and yes eating the berries restores HP, but eating a berry is a separate action, CASTING the spell restores nothing. I know it sounds pedantic, but always remember the wording used in a mechanical description is deliberate. I'm sure most DMs would accept this combo without a thought, but *as written* it doesn't work. Just my 2 coppers.

    • @captdaf
      @captdaf 2 года назад +2

      It adds a flat 2, rather than your mod, but otherwise yes, it's added to spells you cast to restore hit points, not spells you cast to create items that restore hit points.

    So for the infinite spell slots sorlock, I'm pretty sure that the Aspect of the Moon doesn't prohibit you from taking a long rest, just that you don't need to sleep to obtain the benefits.
    If that's the case, then you would lose any additional spell slots you gained when your party does take a long rest. My DM also makes it to where you will suffer a point of exhaustion even if you don't really need sleep if you don't take a long rest. like warforged, but i'm not entirely sure that it's by the book and less house rules.

    A neat combo I brainstormed with a friend is something you could call the Ultimate Undead Undoing.
    Be a Paladin with Greatsword and Great Weapon Master. Have a Valor Bard and a Grave Domain Cleric, or someone that is a multiclass of the two. Bard casts Combat Inspiration on Paly. Next, either Bard or Cleric cast Hold Person/Monster on the target. Then, Cleric casts Path to the Grave. Vulnerability to all damage dealt by the next attack. Next, Paly attacks with Divine Smite. Attack is with advantage, +10 damage from GWM, up to +6 from Combat Inspiration, and vulnerability thanks to PotG. 4x damage.
    It might be inefficient in terms of action economy, especially if bard and cleric are the same person, leaving you to wait a turn between Hold Person and Path to the Grave, but the single damage potential is nuts.

    The peasant rail gun requires each peasant to use its free interaction with an object to receive the spear and an action to pass it. Good so far. In D&D, you can hold an action. You can't hold an interaction with an objection. Unless every peasant rolled the same intiative roll, there are going to be a lot of peasants in that line who can't interact with an object. I figure you are lucky if the spear moves 5 feet. Perhaps do this on the night that you agree with your DM that group initiative would make the game run more smoothly. He'll probably agree with you, or else he is going to spend several hours setting up his initiative tracker.

      The rules also don't allow for momentum affecting damage or to-hit rolls, so at the end of the line it would still be...a 60-foot range thrown weapon with 1d6 damage and probably a bad to-hit roll considering it's a peasant throwing it.

    The death trap room was basically the idea behind an npc i made once that was a spider demon. He'd use a mix of aoe and glyph of warding then the command spell while outside a window. If that failed, he'd web pull you into the room instead, basically setting them all off. I never got to use this but definitely was same vibe as the magic missile death trap, just not as guaranteed in damage lol

    One more combo I can propose is playing as a fighter with the polearm master and Sentinel feat, tunnel fighting fighting style (if the DM allows it, it's UA material), and use a reach weapon, like a glave. As a bonus action you can attack anyone that comes 10ft near you, and stop their movement. It doesn't deal much damage but it's a strong defensive build

    The problem with the gnome casting enlarge/reduce on themselves and using mage hand to fly around is it takes their Action to move the mage hand up to 30 feet. It's a fun trick, and I use it occasionally with my current character (a gnome wizard), but I find it more useful as an out of combat utility than something I've found real use for in combat. Honestly, it's basically a poor man's version of the Fly spell, since Enlarge/Reduce only lasts for 1 minute, whereas Fly lasts for 10 minutes and doesn't require your Action to fly around.

    1:47 You accounted for movement and 3 Dashes. You can only dash twice per turn. The total move speed is 2,520

    I love the Acid + Catapult combo, as player and DM, for a ton of reasons.
    #1. High risk, high reward. Acid is expensive and you lose it all if the enemy passes their save, but you get big damage if it lands.
    #2. You've got to carry around a bunch of vials of acid to use the combo, which can go wrong in a bunch of fun ways.
    #3. As the party gets more gold & more power, the combo gets easier to use. An Alchemy Jug makes it basically free except for the cost of vials!
    #4. Doing a bunch of acid damage to a single target that fails a Dex save is GOOD, but it's not going to break a campaign in the same way a combo like "infinite Wishes" or "infinite Find Familiar" might.
    #5. The combo is pretty much tailor-made for landing a single massive, expensive hit on a big, tough creature with a mediocre Dexterity save. Something like "the Manticore was swooping down to tear apart the defenceless orphans when the Wizard catapulted a year's wages worth of acid flasks into the monster's open mouth & killed it instantly." Cool story.
