He starts getting hooked on drugs and meeting new sexual partners. The wife eventually finds out he's been cheating on her, and her anger leads her to cheat herself. This time the wife has someone invisible, because that person doesn't mean anything more than short experience. When the mime finds her cheating on him, he beats up that person, and leaves. If we listen to the song it's about a girl losing her innocence, "Raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses, it's sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses, at the shade of the sheets and before all the stains". I guess you could relate this to the wife losing her innocence. The entire song’s message, imo, is that there is a "wonderful caricature of intimacy" here. I'm old and this comment made me feel even older. This album can out shortly after I graduated from high school. Anyhoo. Ya it sucks that so much of the younger generation associates with the Pray for the Wicked album and a couple other mainstream hits HOWEVER, I think its pretty damn amazing that Panic (well, Brendon I guess) has impacted so many ages. So many different sounds and changes but kids and adults thoroughly enjoy at least one type of sound from them. I myself have 4 kids and my first grader enjoys this album the best but sure doesn't have a problem with blaring Into the Unknown loud enough for the North Pole to hear. :)

This album came out when I was 13, I’m nearly 30 now and I still remember the lyrics.
This video does kinda make sense when you look at the song lyrics. It's talking about affairs and prostitution being a "caricature of intimacy". The mime imitating sex, a lot of parts of the mimes and the girls relationship being mimed, and the girls affair at the end being a mime all show this caricature. This video is actually really really good when you think of it this way

My interpretation: The theater is a representation of night life for party goers. The mime is picking up women that don't mean anything to him, hence they're not really there (invisible). He eventually meets someone that he falls in love with - mutually. So they get married; however, the mime still succumb to his lifestyle, begins to go out again. He starts getting hooked on drugs and meeting new sexual partners. The wife eventually finds out he's been cheating on her, and her anger leads her to cheat herself. This time the wife has someone invisible, because that person doesn't mean anything more than short experience. When the mime finds her cheating on him, he beats up that person, and leaves.
If we listen to the song it's about a girl losing her innocence, "Raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses, it's sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses, at the shade of the sheets and before all the stains". I guess you could relate this to the wife losing her innocence. The entire song’s message, imo, is that there is a "wonderful caricature of intimacy" here. Sarcastically, it's poking fun at the fact that there is no real intimacy here.

I'm old and this comment made me feel even older. This album can out shortly after I graduated from high school. Anyhoo. Ya it sucks that so much of the younger generation associates with the Pray for the Wicked album and a couple other mainstream hits HOWEVER, I think its pretty damn amazing that Panic (well, Brendon I guess) has impacted so many ages. So many different sounds and changes but kids and adults thoroughly enjoy at least one type of sound from them. I myself have 4 kids and my first grader enjoys this album the best but sure doesn't have a problem with blaring Into the Unknown loud enough for the North Pole to hear. :)
